Changes for R22 - vs Richmond

Spangher was horrible early but he improved as the game went on and did make 2 or 3 quality spoils which was something he hadnt done much before. Contested, genuine spoils. His positioning is still poor and he is better at spoiling when he arrives late (no body on body) but he improved.

Wilkes was WAY worse than you suggest. He was terrible. Genuinely bad. Brain fades, poor skills, terrible athleticism and just ordinary as a one on one defender. He is just a WAFL player. He took a couple of good marks but his move away from defense was telling I think - he is not good enough.

I am interested in your views on Davis. His weaknesses have been decision making and disposal. He was still suspect in this area and he was isolated by the crows when used as a defender and his one on one defending was pretty poor (he had good opponents but its the AFL that will happen)... I would have thought he is no automatic upgrade. Your thoughts?

Sorry, was going to go back to say that I still think Wilkes should be dropped. I was pointing out that 2-3 are being isolated when the team, as a whole, didn't work near hard enough, hence the ball coming into the Crows F50 at a rapid rate and a number of other players made poor decision, regularly. I can't believe Mackenzie would be behind him in the pecking order, just can't accept that.

Re: Davis, I'm fairly sure my views are similar to yours. I have long maintained I don't think he'll be a long term name on our list. Credit to him though, that he's come from Rugby background and from a level where they expected him to play Swans reserves most of last year and he was in league and AFL. I do think he needs an extended run in the AFL if they really want to see where he's at, but I think that's passed.

Wilkes wasnt as bad as Spangher was. Both were very average. And your blind hate wins out again E87 suggesting Wilkes was way worse. Perhaps you could be objective and take off the coloured glasses hey?

I doubt Mackenzie is truly behind either. He seemed to have lost all rebound and was purely lockdown since our Sydney game where he miffed up the kick and lost it for us. Maybe hes back at WAFL to work on his rebound as he certainly got a lot of it this weekend? Or maybe he was instructed to play more tight after that game and he is just a little sore at this stage of the season? Obv the whole defence would have looked terrible with the speed and accuracy the ball was coming in. Adelaide had numbers everywhere.

Also on Spangher. Needs to be a winger. Not strong enough defensively to play off the HBF and I genuinely think he is very good when attacking.

On Davis, he is probably one of my favourite non-22 players. Quick and good build. Doubt he will make best 22 but one can hope.

, can't agree with that. Why was Wilkes moved from defence if he was doing OK? Wirra was worse than Spangher. Scott Selwood sells teammates into trouble with a handball very often, in fact, so does Adam, yet you hear nothing of that.

Can people tell me reasons for the Spangher hate? Is it his hair? You're jealous that he looks like Mel Gibson in Highlander?

Ok. Thats an opinion and we all have them.

I just think yours is completely and utterly unfathomable. Wilkes is a poor mans Trent Carroll.

Im not at all happy with the team put on the park.

Because we have a kid in Ash Smith who deserves a game, a kid with one seriously high ceiling. If he can develop a decent tank he will end up as Robin to Swifts Batman, i would play Swift 75% of game time and have Smith follow him around for a long as he can. Give Swift the instruction to get he hard ball into his hands as many times as possible.

Fletcher has no future, i would like to build onfield relationships, ala Glass, McKenzie, Hurn, Brown, Butler and Scooters in the backline. Currently we have only seem glimpses of indervidual efforts through the middle. We have no Cox, Masten or Kerr, with Shuey not playing a game this season i would like for us to experiment.

Exactly, remember tesser, we need WP to knock off Subi this week, so Swans can knock off those other pretenders in Sowfs and we can take 2nd spot, get the double chance and unleash the reserves.:D

Bit worried Swannies, Jeffrey Farmer tore his hammy at training yesterday, in doubt for the finals.

Ouch, although Phillips, whilst not the same league, was an OK to good replacement wasn't he? Or just the 1 good game? What's happened to Dell'olio? Started with a bang, but now......

Thats the argument I suppose, the worth of playing the kids ahead of a bloke who has been a stand out when ever he has taken to the park in the WAFL.

This same bloke is a life member, premiership player and all australian.

Is he is in your best side, on form, absolutely. Tough crowd not to give him a gig IMO.

Not worries about Dell'olio, quality young kid who's kicked enough floating forward and through the middle to tell me he'll be ok come finals.

Phillips aint in the same league as the wiz, last year he could have won us the game against the Swannies, bagged 5.5.

Not sure if Brandon Matera can qualify, but he'd be a handy replacement.

Mundy, where does Dell'olio sit in the draft projections (in your view). He can play but seems to have gone off the boil... would of thought WC would have some interest, no?

Just butting in, apologies, but I would suspect rookie, although GC get first crack at the rookie draft, do they not? Mundy says they have a hit list of 8-10 19-22 WAFL players, which I've had a guess at on the Freo board. What this means, sorry for my long windedness, is that if WC want we may have to pick up lower in the ND. I would like Potente and Dell'olio, tbh.

No Wilkes wasnt as bad as Spangher... he was way way worse. Was at the game and felt like sniping Wilkes so he would have to go off.

Dell'olio has been spoken to by Port on a number of occasions, West Coast may have spoken to him, but in his opinion he thinks Port are his best bet.

Dell'ollio suffers from being the young bloke in a team of old fella's looking for a flag. The middle consists of Bell, Kris Miller, Ray Smithers and Theo Adams, he's a rotation in the middle and then is asked to push forward.

For what has been asked of him, he's been excellent. When he is on, there is no better player in the WAFL. Sounds pretty extreme, but that is how highly I rate him.

This affliction also hurt Rich last year. Was often a rotation mid and then a half forward.

As a result he copped the "lazy", "didnt get it enough", "maybe he has peaked" stuff.....

I havent seen enough of South but when I have seen Dell'ollio, he has been very very good and he does seem to tick some boxes for WC.... I guess we will see.

Spangher was terrible. I really cannot fathom how there is any defence of games such as that.

He got better as he went. BUT, first half, I saw three goals that were through his direct opponent and/or due to his incompetence. A bad kick from Davis I think went straight over his head, yet he just stood there, had no idea of where the ball was headed and made no move to cut it off. Two other times he was out-bodied way too easily.

He is no good in isolation, flogged by Porplyzia when he was on him, and has no awareness whatsoever.

I agree he has shown much more up the ground, but the guy has no sense of what is going on around him. If he doesn't get delisted (whenever his contract is up) he will turn out like Kosi, getting hammered all the time because he has no idea of his surroundings.

People think Naita can't read the play... I say he reads it better than Spangher x 10.

Wilkes was very ordinary as well, whatever E-mac was punished for, I hope he has shown he has worked on it. Staker too, but not sure he would be dropped after his first game in after injury.

Spangher, Wilkes, Davis should all be outs this week. Fletcher will come in... he deserves his spot on form compared to some of the passengers we took to Adelaide.

Apparently the players through Glass asked the coach to give Fletcher a farewell game, Worsfolds respoonse to the playing group was "who's willing to give up their spot for him", to which he got no response.

It was reported in an article down here in Melbourne.
