Out: Wilkes
In: Mackenzie

Staker, Davis and Spangher didn't do anything great, but they're playing for a spot next year and they'll get more than one chance to do something. Wilkes is crap; bring back Mackenzie.

Wilkes, Staker, Davis will be playing for their careers next week you would think so I reckon Woosha will play them. McNamara should get a game on this basis as well.

Staker and Wilkes deserve a send off game aswell. Stupid pieces of crap

IN: Fletcher McGinnity
OUT: Staker Wilkes

Not hard

out: staker, wilkes, wilson
in: emac, jmac, fletcher/paddy mac (depending on which path we go down)

essentially dropping staker (utility/nothing/poo), wilkes (KP back) and wilson (KP forward who doesnt really have a role that is of use to the team). then bringing in two mids and a KP backs.

i think our current tall/small balance is all wrong.

Was Staker injured??? has to be the supreme candidate to drop next weekend, Spangher a close second, and Wilkes third. Usually I like to pump up guys like Wilkes and Staker but Stakes was dreadfull today and Wilkes (tried hard) but his disposal v a top 4 team with there pressure was found out. I dont know whose playing good enough WAFL to come in though, McNamara mabye for Staker.

Dont you just wish you could take someones work rate and force it into another player.

Look Im going to take a conservative approch and look at our best interest for next year.

So with that in mind lets not play anybody that will be integral to the team in 2010 to reduce the risk of injuries. So we play the people who wont be with us or trying to cement a spot next year.

OUT: A.Selwood, B.Ebert, J.Kennedy, Naitanui, Hurn, Rosa, Swift, S.Selwood, WIlson

Ins: Fletcher, Hunter, Stenglein, Hansen, McNamara, B.Jones, Seaby, A.Smith, Schofield

Team:

FB: A.Smith, D.Glass, Wirrpanda
HB: Spangher, Wilkes, B.Jones
C: Embley, Priddis, Houlihan
HF: LeCras, Hansen, Staker
FF: McKinley, Lynch, Hunter
RR: Seaby, Fletcher, Stenglein
Int: Davis, Butler, Schofield, McNamara.

do you know the meaning of conservative? it would be very extreme to drop half the team for this purpose.

why would we not play our good young guys just because there is risk they mayyyyyyyyy be injured for a long period of time. as opposed to them getting experience.

Out: Staker, Spangher, Wilkes, Davis

In: Fletcher, Mackenzie, Smith, Notte

Fair to say that staker, spangher and wilkes were terrible today. Either didnt show enough pace, determination, good body work, skills, or pretty much a combination.

Fletcher has been playing well and should really slot into that midfield. He has earnt a fairwell game with form.

Mackenzie had 23 disposals for claremont today so has showed something and should be a straight replacement for Wilkes. Unless he has some minor injury/etc

Smith. Has showed a couple of good games over the final weeks of the season. Has pace which would go well against Richmond and should get a taste to take into pre season.

Notte is the same as Smith. Couple of good games, has a decent size compared to when he was drafted. This means Wilson can play back and Notte up forward. Would also be good to see where he is sitting at the moment with his development against the AFL boys.

Davis may miss with concussion and wasn't all that great anyway

That's right!

That's what I want but it wont happen. Maybe a farewell game for Fletcher/Hunter.

One thing I learnt from this thread is never to trust anything you lot say. I read this before watching the game, due to enjoying myself too much at East Freo Oval, and expected Spangher to be absolutely useless and Wilkes not much worse. Wilkes was Wilkes, average but took some courageous marks and stuffed up a few disposals.

All I hear on here is Spangher can't win a contest and then when he spoiled Tipett on the lead 2-3 times, just clean spoils, well I had to rewind to make sure it was Spangher. Houlihan made a lot more poor decision errors, Glass got beaten in an one on one by Porplyzia, twice, but I bet I hear nothing about those 2, and Staker, well he was Staker.

i really dont know what spangher did wrong on saturday. that one occasion where he checked that kick and it went 3 meters was the main thing i think people are hating him for.

his defensive work was good. he made spoils and some of the goals and marks were where he truly couldnt do any more and was right on the player's tail.

needs to be released in the midfield for mine.

I think I kept getting him confused with Staker :p in the end when I think Maric marked it over Staker I said "Typical Spangher, you're useless" then saw it was Staker.

In regard to the Glass comment, the last goal he got blatantly pushed in the back away from the ball. Umpires just hate him.

Despise Wilkes however. Couldn't do anything right in my eyes.

Obviously Jacko thinks the same, he made some comment about they need to find what his decision making is like in close traffic???

Spangher was horrible early but he improved as the game went on and did make 2 or 3 quality spoils which was something he hadnt done much before. Contested, genuine spoils. His positioning is still poor and he is better at spoiling when he arrives late (no body on body) but he improved.

Wilkes was WAY worse than you suggest. He was terrible. Genuinely bad. Brain fades, poor skills, terrible athleticism and just ordinary as a one on one defender. He is just a WAFL player. He took a couple of good marks but his move away from defense was telling I think - he is not good enough.

I am interested in your views on Davis. His weaknesses have been decision making and disposal. He was still suspect in this area and he was isolated by the crows when used as a defender and his one on one defending was pretty poor (he had good opponents but its the AFL that will happen)... I would have thought he is no automatic upgrade. Your thoughts?

didnt hear that comment, but of his few games in midfield he's been more than serviceable.

the first occasion i saw him in the middle was the preseason derby. we were up by about 30 something at 3qtr time and spangher was god-like in a BOG performance. at this point i thought this was his true position. he is ferocious, very neat with his disposal and has a few tricks in his bag.

since then he's played 1 game in the middle, against st kilda in which he was more than serviceable with 21 touches at 86%DE.

i just think he gets treated a bit harshly around here.
