The “main group” at
@WestCoastEagles
training includes the 22 from round 2 (minus Gov) plus Bailey Williams, Tom Cole, Will Schofield, Josh Rotham, Jamaine Jones and Jake Waterman. Luke Shuey looks far better than he did on Monday morning.

What about moving Oscar down back, moving Barrass to CHB and and bringing in Bailey to do Oscar's role?

B Hurn Allen Sheppard
HB Jetta Barrass Duggan
C Gaff Yeo Redden
HF Sheed Darling Cripps
FF Ryan Kennedy Jones
R: Naitanui Shuey Kelly
I Williams, Pettrucelle, Brander, Cole

Will they play Nic on Saturday?

I just read an article where they talk about Gabba centre circle being the hardest and most dangerous in the AFL due to not using a drop in wicket.

Some ruck men from Brisbane talked about how many knee and ankle injuries they got, and talked about how it might be because of the turf in the middle.

Simon McPhee: How West Coast can right the wrongs of round two and Brad Sheppard’s crucial role against Brisbane

Brad Sheppard’s the man.
We can’t ignore the nightmare at Metricon last Saturday, but we can learn from it and move on. And moving on means focussing on Brisbane this weekend and the challenge they bring.
That’s why I’ve mentioned Sheppard, because the Eagles need to nullify Charlie Cameron. Let’s face it, his four goals in the first half against Fremantle were the difference.

Sheppard’s your border collie, that loyal chaser who gets the job done, no fuss needed, no compliments expected, then looks up at you and says: “What can I do next?”
Well in the lead-up to Saturday’s game, I’d be saying this to Sheppard:
“Get on Charlie’s back shoulder and force him to the boundary whenever you can. No corridor and nothing over the back. We as a group will make sure there is pressure on the ball and make sure it comes in long and high.
“Every time we get the ball, get on your bike. We will try and use you on the way out. We need to put some offensive pressure on him as well. He can’t kick goals when he’s up the ground and he’s got to work hard to get back.”
Yep, Brad Sheppard won’t let you down. I’m confident of that.
DEFENCE
The small forwards need to stick some tackles and win some contests. And the mids and backs need to play on a player when the pressure is on.
Just because you rely on a team-fill system with handovers and communication, that doesn’t mean you don’t compete and defend when someone is in your area.
I can see the forwards v backs match-ups as something Brisbane will look to exploit — just like Gold Coast did. Shannon Hurn had problems with a taller match-up against the Suns and by taking him deep it provides a potential headache for West Coast. It also takes Hurn to a position where he is less likely to hurt you. Without McGovern it will be a big task for the Eagles’ backs.
OFFENCE
It’s vital that the West Coast forwards make Brisbane defenders accountable. Harris Andrews and Darcy Gardiner combined for 20 intercepts between them against Fremantle.
The Eagles cannot let that happen.
But the Dockers were able to kick three goals over the back, and West Coast have small forwards who can do the same.

Too often our mids looked to leave early, but then got caught getting forward too early.
Clean hands and executing the fundamentals under pressure is a must this week.
The message at each contest must be clear: “First to ball. Win or make the tackle. Hold your shape.”
This will help improve the poor round-the-ball numbers.

My Side would be as follows

B Rotham Schofield Sheppard
HB Duggan Barrass Hurn
C Gaff Redden Jetta
HF Yeo Darling Sheed
FF Ryan Kennedy Cripps
R: Naitanui Shuey Kelly
I/C Allen, Brander, Ah Chee, Nelson

Outs Mcgovern, Petrol
Ins Schofield, Rotham

Jetta to a wing as we need a seriously good player out there. He fits the bill.
Yeo to start hF to give us some hunger for the ball in the forward line, but of course will rotate through the midfield.
Redden in the guts as he generally operates between the arcs anyway.

Third and final crack at the changes before teams are named in the next half hour or so.

Out: Gov (brainfart), Ah Chee
In: Schoey, Jones

B: Sheppard, Schofield, Hurn
HB: Jetta, Barrass, Duggan
C: Gaff, Shuey, Redden
HF: Cripps, Darling, Sheed
F: Ryan, Kennedy, Allen
R: Naitanui, Kelly, Yeo
I: Brander, Petruccelle, Nelson, Jones
E: Waterman, Cole, Williams, Ah Chee

Fingers crossed for a Jones debut

With you on the Jones call. Just get him in I say. We're crying out from someone to fill willie's pressure forward role.

I'm choosing to be miserable and negative and not care who is in or out because that Suns game was so shit I can't afford to bring any hope into Saturday. I'm still in a really bad mood as well so as much as I love you **** you all.

I can see where you are coming from but Brander did far more than Petrocelle in a bad loss.
Many moons ago west coast played an great away game against Carlton but Tom Swift had an absolute shocker in a close loss. He was just this obvious pressure release every time he went near it and was ultimately the actual reason we lost. That game stuck in my mind as one of the great bad performances by any individual player in our history but on Saturday we had about multiple players equal that. Petrocelle was definately one of them and Brander not far behind. Haven't quite given up hope but his WAFL form doesn't scream selection and all 5 AFL games have been poor. So far reminds me of another high pick McDougal.

Looks like the MC agree with me about Nelson - lacks impact, and would be eaten alive by Cameron. I was discussing Nelson's limitations in the podcast thread.
Good to see Rotham get a game. Ah Chee and Petch are both lucky.

Martin out is a big plus for us. Just need Zorko to come out on Saturday.

Martin is cooked - that’s a win for brisbane. Did nothing vs Freo, they’ve gone with McInerney as their main ruckman now.

I wonder if the fact that Brisbane have a tall forward line and Sheppard will be busy with Cameron opened the door for Rotham. He could take Hipwood if he goes up the ground, leaving Schofield back on McStay or McInerney.

Disagree with you totally about Brander. His game on Saturday was not nearly the worst. He did some good things, took a couple of strong marks, he is a good kick, he made a couple of poor mistakes also which blotted his game. Obviously has skill and size, there were reasons we took him #13, don't see the McDougall comparison at all, give him time. McDougall was actually a talented footballer and athlete who for some reason didn't realize his ability.

McDougall was the original Jack Watts. Hoping Brander doesn't follow the same path
