Forget Bontempelli, Macrae, or Dalhaus..... Our greatest enemy this week is and always has been this man...

Caleb "The Eagles are my Bitches" Daniel

Notable Stats:
- Averages 26.5 disposals and a goal against West Coast (His highest average among all teams)
- 105 disposals overall in 4 games each of which kills us with pace and tackle evasiveness
- Averages more clearances against us than any other team

Just seems to be the everywhere link man when we play. Who do we play on him?
He only got away from us in the 4th last time, when the Dogs had momentum. I think we have to win the contest and prevent the opposition from gaining a good field position from their clearances (i.e midfield pressure). If we do that, Caleb won't be able to release so easily.

No Pridda goes a long way to countering their game plan.

I agree with what you're saying about his selection but he never panics, that's the exact opposite of the way he plays. It might be beneficial if he did panic and hurried his ball movement up.

Hmmm I guess what you see as Butler being too calm down back is me seeing him kinda frozen haha, a bit like a deer in headlights.

I kinda think the same about some of McGov's bizzare turnovers. What looks like him being ultra chill I think is him freezing up in a situation (no diss to the Gov - my 2nd favourite player on the team and possible future cap).

The good:

- More games into Karpany, Duggan, Cole, Sheed into Barrass so yes we are still playing some kids all who under 50 games experience each.

- Priddis out.

- No Clay Smith or Libba

The bad:

- Butler in makes no sense and i wouldn't be surprised if we did bring Parto in at the last minute to see who plays for the bulldogs.

If this is being considered we need someone on Parto parents watch. If they just happen to be spending the weekend in Melbourne then he's a chance! They wouldn't rob his parents of the chance to watch his first game live just to try play mind games with the Dogs.

Fact is, first gamers tend to be announced early so that family/friends can make their way to the game, and the player can prepare themselves.

Ahh but herein lies classic West Coast, where we frequently crack late and a smaller player ends up giving us the special treatment with the exception of last week where Garlett and Salem were both injured.

As somebody else stated in an earlier post "there's been a virus sweeping through the Club and don't be surprised if there's not more changes and there could even be a couple who fly over late". So by this would not come to the conclusion the team is as selected until they run out to play!

I seriously doubt that there would be anyone in the side fast enough to catch it!

Not sure, but I have always thought he was a very fair player. Like most of our "nice boys".

Pretty sure he has. He isn't one of the " nice boys" Always one of the first to fly the flag and has been a bit of a campaigner

Geez. Seems like the very definition of a "nothing" game.

Half a dozen regulars are out

A bunch of proven plodders come in

The kids get overlooked again.

Gonna be hard to get excited for this one...

Kid - singular

Maybe we could have given Mutimer another run and possibly Lamb but if we're selecting on form theirs didn't justify it

Butler was selected by default because he was the last fit defender ready to play

Agree he is one who fly's the flag, but I really do think he is a very fair player. That massive elbow he through at scuba was really just a fend off to the chest.

I feel your pain, but Masten is far from worst. Read back, he has the best DE of our mids. Duggan's disposals aren't great at times and neither are Redden's. Few more in line before Masten even if he does get pushed off the ball like a toddler.

Yes but with Hill out QS we need someone who has scoreboard impact, and taking into account the three recent games in the WAFL, we have a young guy with 8 goals in three games and nearly 70 disposals or an old hack who has had 70 possessions of dinky kicks and handballs with 0 goals. Makes no sense to pick the old guy.

Having had a good nights sleep, I am a lot happier with the changes.

However, the argument that there's too much experience going out is flawed, as the three of the players coming in are Redden, Butler & Wellingham, all very experienced players.

Priddis being out really gives Redden a chance to shine. He is very good as the primary extractor / tackler as shown at Brissie. He has struggled at WCE to play in any other position. This could be a glimpse of the next 5 years IMO.

The main point of contention is Masten over Partington. I can only assume that the MC still think we are a chance this year and have gone for Masto's experience. Whilst i still maintain Parto should've been picked over Masto for Hill's role, I can live with this decision. Also, I think Simmo likes to give the kids a few games in a row aka Mutimer, and he thinks Parto would've been out next week regardless of how he plays. Am I grasping at straws, who knows, but I think once Parto is in he should stay in. Hope this has been conveyed the the young bloke if this is the case.

True, but WAFL goals... I want him in the side too btw.

I know Schofield didn't have a loading from previous reports recently, but has he ever been suspended?

2 weeks for striking J.Riewoldt in 2012, also had two reprimands before that and copped a fine for rough conduct in JLT 1 this year.

I'm done this is ******. Even if Partington plays this is still ******. Name the kid. Reward form. **** them. **** everyone there. Stocks can get ******. Nisbett. Gepp. Simpson. All of them are campaigners. Whats the point of playing well in the 2s if you don't get picked. The clubs run by campaigners. It's so ******* obvious. This club needs a changeout behind the closed doors. This club needs to clean out its football department. They're a bunch of clueless pricks. campaigners. He should have been named on Monday. This is pathetic.[/QUOTE

Nailed it....

Hutchings needs to go to this bloke!!! Spot on

Karps needs to have a big game because he's probably seen as just keeping Lecca's spot warm until he comes back in next week. With Hill already out, there's really nobody else that could be sacrificed for him.
Also if Cole has a quieter game than Butler, he may well make way for Hurn next week. Needs to play like he did against Geelong.

Cripps could still go before Karps his form has been rubbish.
