Good to finally have a win on the board (albeit an ugly one) but next week is a challenging game against Norf.

Who comes in? Who goes out?

I know a lot of people weren't happy with Yeo and Golby's performance last night, but we simply can't afford to drop both of them with Lindsay Thomas next week. At this moment, it already looks like Polec might miss, so I'll go with:

In: Harwood, Karnezis
Out: Yeo, Polec

Assuming Polec is injured:
Out: Polec, Golby, Yeo
IN: Doc, Harwood, Patty K

If Polec is available he stays in and Patty K has another week cooling his feet.
If available McGuire in for McKeever

If Doc can have a good game today he may get the nod due to his leg speed- North are fairly fleet footed and he may be useful. Whilst we don't want to be swapping and changing too much, we do need to also be getting games into Doc and Harwood as well as Golby and Yeo. The benefit of increasing depth is only useful if poor performers are dropped when reserves players are doing well.

I like those changes.

Is it smart to bring in Harwood and Doc though.. two players who have not seen much time in the seniors and only the reserves.. and while we are doing that we are getting rid of Golby and Yeo who have both been playing AFL standard week in and week out for some weeks now? ... Polec we can't really help.

When is the right time to bring them in? Harwood is just as experienced as Yeo and Golby, and Doc needs to debut sometime. Don't get me wrong, I think Yeo and Golby will be long term fixtures of the club, however they look like they may need a rest, or perhaps rather relegation to regain confidence and work on any problems with their game the coaches decide they may have.

Yeah, I think it'd be a big mistake to make more than one change to our back six. We won't make them better organised by constantly changing them.

All the same, wouldn't surprise if Yeo was dropped for either Docherty or Harwood.

Really not sure who goes to Thomas. Adcock is struggling, McGrath doesn't really seem to do a shut-down job anymore, Harwood not quick enough, Golby doesn't have the defensive instincts, Yeo doesn't have the experience, Patfull would surely have to take one of Hansen or Tarrant.

Whichever matchup we go with, I reckon Thomas will get a few goals. Key thing is to stop the ball getting down there too often, and not leaving so much space when it does.

If Polec is injured;
Out: Polec, Yeo.
In: Harwood, Karnezis.

We don't have the experience to play Doc and Harwood at once imo. Need to keep Golby.

Harwood has played 29 games to the start of this season and Golby 24 so not loosing any experience replacing Golby with Harwood.

Harwood in for Polec. Yeo to a wing or sub.

Wouldn't be opposed to PattyK in for Polks as a rotation.

Agree on Harwood for Polec, PattyK for Yeo, Polks as sub again.

I'm assuming Polec is injured - if he was fully fit I'd think about giving him an extended run in the seniors to see if continuity helps him settle in.

If Polec is fully fit then I agree, he plays. Gotta be fully fit though - don't think he has the base fitness to carry a niggle and still contribute. If Polec plays, I'd go with either Polks or Yeo dropping out for Harwood with PattyK a maybe in for the other one.

I'd make minimal changes, conditions were tough last night

In: Harwood
Out: Polec (inj)

Maybe move McGrath back to the forward line for etihad, with Harwood replacing him in the backline

or even try yoe or golby up forward and keep McGrath in the backline for his experience

Substitute experience for stability though. I don't think Harwood even got on the park for a NAB Cup game this season, so you'd think it'll take him a little while to adjust back to the pace of the game and our structures down back.

More importantly it's not really like for like. Golby tends to play an overlapping, sweeping role. Harwood is more of a one on one defender who would try and win it and give it off to players like Golby.

I reckon if Golby was to come out, it'd be more likely to be Docherty replacing him. I don't think Golby will come out though.

In: Doc, Patty K, Harwood
Out: Ash, Polec, Yeo

Maguire for McKeever hopefully. Need another tall back as North have Petrie, Tarrant and Hansen.

Think the thing we have to appreciate though is the reserves have been performing really well, i actually wouldnt be suprised if the knocked of the seniors if a scratch match was called tomorrow. Harwood and doc have been a massive part of that. Add to that patty k (who should never have been dropped) - he was BOG by a mile in the ressies 110point annhialiation of the gold coast 2s.

In: Docherty Out: Golby
In: Harwood Out: Yeo

Maguire would also come straight back in if fit. Understand coaches dont like to make too many changes but this side has been rubbish so far. Too many good players, future of the club, stuck in the 2s. Voss may have his views on the universe but he's going to be out of a job before too long if he doesnt start geting games into the talent at gis disposal

I think Karnesis should come back with Polec rested after his injury.

Would like to see Harwood back probably at the expense of Yeo.

Perhaps Docherty but it might be a change too many.
