Yep i agree with the above.

It sucks because in the long term we need those players ( Ryan & Venables) to play as many games as possible but in the short term we got a softish draw till the bye and we have our senior players in some form along with Nic Nat & JK back into the side. Early on a lot of people said we would struggle to get a win with no Jk but here we are 3-1 and no doubt be 4-1 after this weekend.

It is not like we we will be bringing in a Wellingham or Josh hill to replace those players but we have a chance to bring in some fresh blood to continue the run we have been having. Good times ahead!

The afl preview is hilarious! It's all about us, naming our best players etc. Then, Carlton by 1 point. Surely Howard Kotton is taking the piss...

OK, worst case scenario team:

Out: Venables, Shuey, Sheppard, Redden
In: Ainsworth, Hutchings, Cole, Karpany

B: Nelson, Barrass, Hurn
HB: Jetta, McGovern, Duggan
C: Gaff, Hutchings, Masten
HF: Cripps, Darling, Waterman
F: LeCras, Kennedy, Lycett
R: Naitanui, Sheed, Yeo
I: Cole, Rioli, Ainsworth, Karpany
E: Partington (traveling), Schofield, Watson, McInnes

Available for East Perth: Schofield, Watson, McInnes, Brander, Rotham, Mutimer, Ah Chee, Petruccelle, Mellen, Ollen (I think), Bayok, England

Not quite bottom of the barrel but the depth is starting to get tested. Midfield in particular looks very suspect.

The pace lost through Ryan/Venables going down has to be replaced. Just bringing in Hutchings/next in line doesn’t cut it for me. We need to continue our forward momentum and push with the youth and positive game plan we’ve devised.

Petch, come on down.
On top of that, this year wasn’t meant to be us challenging for top 4 so I hope the selectors don’t think we are suddenly contending again.

I agree with you and would be replacing kids with kids. As exciting as Venables and Ryan were we can definitely cover their output (Rioli already picked up Ryan’s goals on the weekend past). Petrucelle to replace DV for mine, the pace and pressure is the factor I’m most interested in. DVs 10 possies can be covered for sure. Cole Hutch for Shep Shuey if needed.

How do you replace a Shuey and his attacking pace??
Has to be experience not youth..Yeo!
Yeo for Shuey, Hutch for Yeo, Partington for Venables, Cole for Shep, AhChee/Ainsworth for Redden.
Looking at our best 18, it's still solid, formidable - given the injuries.
B: Nelson Barrass Hurn
HB: Duggan Gov Jetta
C: Gaff Hutch Masten
HF: Cripps Darling Waterman
F: Lecras Kennedy Lycett
R: Natanui Yeo Sheed
I: Rioli, Partington, Cole, AhChee/Ainsworth
E: Schofield...AhChee/Ainsworth.
But having read the injury list, seems Shuey and Shep will be back, Redden?

What just happened with?? Ankle Injuries left right centre. Simmo should watch himself having a go at optus stadium( large WA investment), you don't want to make unnecessary enemies.Let's do some research first, compare every ground in Australia before making comments like that. Lets hope we have enough players available by round 10. We are on track to field a full team on our injury list. almost every ankle is 12 weeks. I hope shuey is ok.

I think the reason why we been so good is our sling shot from good kickers. But the thing about sling shot is you need fast fwd to be able to.

Losing two quick forward will stuff that up. So bring in petch and karpany. Hutchings doesn't do it

Petrol is arguably the fastest man alive, not so sure about Karps?
Petrol lacks experience and Karps defensive pressure?
We've still got plenty pace around the place...
Hutch is a good allrounder, not so fast but pressures, tackles, crumbs, goals.(experienced head)
With twin towers NN and JK firing, and JK settling the team, it should be a good win.

Hope they bring in Karps for that high half forward and not a Partington/Hutch.

We've really gone back to a role based gameplan which allows players to focus on their strengths, rather than trying to shove round pegs into square holes so to speak.

Yeah it sounds like all of redden, sheppard and shuey are likely. In particular redden and sheppard, given they are just corkies/knocks there is no point resting them, need to keep the momentum going

and being well placed on ladder early, is good incentive to try and stay thereabouts...

Problems with the new stadium causing injuries, is this just another Liberal govt **** up with our money?

Assuming Venners only one that is to be replaced. Ah Chee will fill that role, but probably needs a few games in Wafl to get match fit.
So Partington for me or love to see Petra!
Shep if really sore has to be Cole.

With the way the injury list is going + MCG and Carlton copping it from everywhere I'm starting to feel like we'll probably drop this game.

Either that or we turn them into sausage meat.
