Exactly. Symonds was picked because of his bowling over Katich. Katich v Symonds batting ability differential is far greater than their bowling differential.

Get real....you have to earn a test spot. That just devalues everything. a Test cap is the most valuable sporting honour in our country in my opinion.

The amount of overs he is bowling is regulation for him.

I agree with that, I reckon Tait n Rofe should be in the squad to play the kiwis this summer though.

Been an afterthought for Ponting so far, and has only taken 5 wickets in two matches on turning decks.

A third seamer would be of far more use.

katitch for punter who can use this test to rest his back...
even if the pitch is rather spin friendly,williams should have a bowl at mgilla's expense,we'll still have enough spin options and the warne is bowling we wont need any...williams earnt his worth...maybe give dizzy a rest aswell...we have one the series so this how the side should look...

Can’t see the new skipper missing the test, unless he is basically unable to walk that is.

With predecessors like Waugh and Border I doubt Ponting would want to be seen as soft.
