I thought Brad Dick was pretty good today! Looked like a good player who was having a bit of a messy day, but still having a positive impact. And it seems unlikely that Sidey will be able to play the same role as well, they have pretty different attributes. I think we want Dick in the team for finals, he adds another dimension to the team.

Brad Dick just has the ability to go bang bang all of a sudden and put a few on the scoreboard. He did it today which gave us a bit of space.

Bring something a little different to the forward line and our midfield looks settled.

At this stage I'd rather have Dick in the line up than Sidebottom.

As for Wellingham, when he gets the footy he breaks line and looks to put the footy to the right place. I love when he gets the footy forward of the center because he takes it on, and puts the footy to dangerous spot.

I think today's 22 looks pretty settled right now.

Good win considering Didak, Swan and Pendlebury all seemed a little down. The others picked up the sack.

I love Dayne Beams.

The problem with bringing Sidebottom in is that both he and Beams are getting lmited ground time due to their youth. If you have both in, then you are putting more pressure onto the senior guys to go without rest for a little bit longer.

I would like to see him come in though, but not if it means Swan / Pendles / etc can't get as much of a breather during the game.

B: Toovey - Prestigiacomo - Maxwell
HB: Shaw - O'Brien - Johnson
C: Lockyer - Swan - Wellingham
HF: Didak - Cloke - Thomas
F: Dick - Anthony - Medhurst
FL: Wood - Pendlebury - Davis
INT: Beams - O'Bree - L. Brown - Fraser

Anthony Rocca has to demand a spot.
Its finals and we cant mess with the side - leave it!

I heard Anthony injured his calf... I think
Can't drop l brown.
In: Rocca
Out: Dick, unless jack's injured, then out: jack

He limped off late, but then I watched him after the siren. Walking fine with no ice.

Does this game mean anything to both sides? Unless we beat you by 50+, then our positions on the ladder won't change.

22 actually.

But still, I don't expect either side to get out of 2nd gear, and there will be a world record for rotations.

Plenty of uncontested footy too.

With the way Lake dominated Jack the first time we played I wonder whether Mick will be tempted to play Rocca to free up Jack.

Anyways I'd like to see,

No changes.

I don't think so. We can't hide Jack away from the likes of Lake and Scarlett.

Anthony shouldn't have played last time. He was playing hurt.

I think the best thing possible for Jack going into a finals series is to kick a couple on Lake.

I dont think there will be any changes.

Lockyer and B Johnson would be the two Id consider ommitting if you wanted to bring J Mac and Siddebottom in.

N Brown for L Brown as well.

I can't believe how many people have Leigh Brown as an out.

Need we be reminded of how Anthony was pantsed by Lake last time out? He needs a chop out. And Cloke will play further up the ground to get Hargrave out of the way.

Also, add in the fact, that Brown was very, very good today!

Agreed. Leroy was very good yesterdee I thought and couldn't possibly be dropped on that basis.

JA definitely appeared a bit sore towards the end of the game and I wouldn't be taking any risks with him on the eve of the finals... I'd bring in Dawes to replace him and not Rocca.

I'd say it was one of the best efforts thus far from Leroy, but the ball wasn't exactly coming in lightning quick which gave Brown time to get to the contest.

Against the Dogs smaller and quicker forwards I'd prefer Sack. Not sold on Sidebottom as while he has good endurance, he is not quick on the burst. Dick didn't look at his best but his pace is required in my view.

For the future I would much rather have Nathan Brown in ahead of Leigh Brown, but given how much time N Brown has been out of the side and its finals time in two weeks, I wouldnt mess with it. Though would make a change of either Clarke or Sidebottom to come in for Dick who has completely gone missing in any games where were not utterly dominating the opposition. and given that he cant stick a tackle and so often kicks to defenders on the goal line from 25-30 metres out, I'd much rather bring in Clarke or Sidebottom, so that the talented likes of Davis, Didak and Medhurst can go further up forward more often, where they are so dangerous instead of playing across half back/in the middle as often as they have been.

I'd be looking at something like this:

Nathan Brown > Leigh Brown

If Nathan Brown is fit we really need to get some seniors game time into him. I really can't see Leroy lining up on someone like Reiwoldt or Kosi in the finals which if we play StKilda he would have to do. It's important we get Nathan Brown back in the team, with some game time under his belt. Also Leroy doesn't have a good defensive match up against the Doggies, Goldsack and Reid would provide better match ups against the Welshs, Johnsons, Hahns and Hills IMO

McCarthy OR Clarke > Johnson

I really think we need to bring in a tagger before finals and I think McCarthy could be the answer. He has the speed and strength to make a good tagger IMO - it's a matter of his match fitness. He would also be a hassle going the other way. If not I think Marty would provide a better option than Johnson in his current linking midfield role or even as a run with player.

Sidebottom is stiff to miss but he can't really play Dicks FP role and I thought Wellingham played a good game against the Swans - although I guess there is a chance he could come in for Wellingham. Personally I think we would miss Wellinghams pace and ability to take on the opposition if we dropped him.

No way I'd drop Wellingham... I thought he was ok today. He has pace and the Dogs are a quick side...
Would possibly drop Dick for Sidey but would like to keep changes to the minimum..

Couldn't agree more. Against the Dogs at the Dome we are going to need the pace and run Wellers provides.

Agree with the first one, but I doubt McCarthy will have the conditioning to play a tagger's role. Johnson hasn't been too poor but not really sure what role he is filling at the moment.

i did hear on sen today that john anothony strained his cal, can anyone confirm this. or were my ears lying to me!

I'm hearing the same rumours and they have become stronger all day...

Apparently he has a calf strain and will be sidelined for 1-2 weeks...

Hopefully it is nothing serious, but he might need this week off to get it right...

Bring in big Anth (Rocca), he is a big target and will relish the dilivery from our midfeild ,not to mention the fear to opposition back men when the ball comes in quickly! It may cause Lake to spend more time in the goal sqare and frees up Jack Anthony!
NO CHANGE is good but it all depends on which opposition you come up against, (team balance).
