I’m sure they know which of the emergencies aren’t playing, but yes, that’s true.

Given they put him on a plane and flew him across the country... its hardly the way to recover from illness

I can only assume he has been selected as an emergency because hes healthy enough to play. Hopefully hes the sub and returns to the 22 next week

All the talk is Moore forward, but it could just as easily be Madgen into the midfield mix. He trained as an inside mid with our VFL group earlier this week.

Roughead, Moore, Howe and Keane isn’t much different to Roughead, Moore, Howe and Madgen which we started in defence for the first three weeks.

Except for the massive difference to the forward line from those two options.

More changes than I was expecting. Can't say I saw the Cox one coming.

We had Madgen and Mayne as on either wing for the first half last week. When the last time we valued attack over defence?

I’m generally a fan of Mason. But I’m ok with him being dropped precisely because it doesnt make a heap of sense. it smacks of a left field plan and we need to do something left field given the odds. It will be a disaster or a master stroke but at least it’s something different.

Personally, only different move I would've made is Thomas out instead of Cox. After some thought and not basing my opinions off the game which is very reactionary, this is how I'd approach the season.

I'd honestly consider moving Darcy Moore out of defence to be honest. The defensive aspect of his game is being drastically overrated when it comes to man on man work. He was amazing against the Bulldogs but I'd argue he has since lost his next 3 matchups (Himmelberg is debateable but I personally think he was beat). Darcy Moore has a defensive loss percentage of 28% and I saw a stat staying .
Where Darcy excels is his ability to read the play and both his disposal and movement for a tall player. He should be moved to a wing by the Essendon game. Look at Nic Cox for Essendon. He is a talent but on top of that, he is very hard to match up on. Now imagine Darcy Moore on the wing who is better in every way bar endurance.

Now to Brodie Grundy and the 3 talls. It actually baffles me. Having the 2 key forwards hides our deficiencies as a forward line as you need to put good defenders on them as they can both take a contested grab and are so tall. Also takes pressure off Mihocek as a leading forward and Grundy in the ruck. Now speaking of Grundy. Why not try deploy him for very short bursts as an inside midfielder (assuming we run the Cameron/Cox combo)? Adams is out and we lack a contested ball winner. He does lack the speed but having a huge body could help in the packs. May not work but we aren't making finals anyway at this rate so why not experiment. We also need to rest him forward more. Especially if we only have the one super tall.

By Essendon, I want to see this line up barring injury
B. J.Howe/Jo.Roughead/J.Magden
HB. Br.Maynard/M.Keane/I.Quaynor
R. B.Grundy/S.Pendlebury/S.Sidebottom
C. D.Moore/L.Greenwood/J.Crisp
HF. J.Daicos/D.Cameron/B.Mihocek
F. B.McCreery/M.Cox/J.De Goey
int. J.Noble/C.Mayne/F.Macrae/CL.Brown

I would try and phase out Mayne and Greenwood first and potentially Magden after that. Obviously slowly introduce youth who put their hands up but I only want to play youth if they are genuinely deserving of it. They need to be putting performances up in the VFL.

So Checkers is on 8 goals and Cox 6 this year. Now that’s ordinary for this year’s game but generally for us it’s ok. Given the strength of the big defenders for WCE the option to drop Cox is confusing. I was expecting Cameron to come in but with the other talls like last year. If Moore goes forward then I’ll be happy, nervous also for our backs but still think the wrong rein was pulled but that’s just my opinion. What do I know I’m a big footy flog.

What do you know about the circumstances surrounding his omission? The same as me - nothing. I choose to run with the belief that Sier is an infinitely better player than anyone who is going to take his place, particularly with Adams out, and that coaches should be doing their utmost to retain him in the team. You choose to believe that the club can do no wrong. We are not only not on the same page but reading totally different books.
We do you think he’s been dropped?

Apparently people really believe our Coach selects a side based on the respect he has for the father of our listed players..Just think that through and wonder.

Wow.. I did think it through. heck me Bucks must have some serious man love for Jarrad Blair's dad.

Big Mason Cox is one of the worst big tall forwards in the league in terms of snagging em. 6 sausage rolls. How much is that attributed to him.. how much to Buckley's game plan? How much is this bloke getting paid?

Am I the only one rightly or wrongly happy to see the back of Cox?

Yes and No as the Problem is ourside of Cameron and a Young McMahon we don't have much Quality to take his Place.

Kind of Sad he is normally our best KPF

He is the New Jarrad Blair.

In Other Words Not Much

Truth, but a massive insult to Blair at the same age! At 23 Blair was looking the goods. It all went downhill from there, but downhill Blair is the standard we’re currently getting from Brown.
