I can't find anywhere on the Ports website that gives info on if/when any training session will be happening at UTAS (Friday I assume?)
I also can't even find a bloomin email address to send a question about it.

Anyone know things about such stuff?
I suggest you call the club (Member Services: 08 8447 9900) to find out.
I can't find anything either.

I don't know how it's surprising Jackson Mead comes in this weekend. The cupboard is bare. Our SANFL team is shit and half our AFL team are injured.

Everyone called for Lorenz too and in 21% game time he got one disposal. I'm not sure how he is such a better option than Mead but at this point they will both be playing.

Mead's form in the two's is as good as anyone else. Would you rather they brought in McEntee?
We're dropping a small forward. I don't think Mead kicked 7 goals on the weekend like Dylan Williams did. Williams is the obvious in, but he won't actually be an in because he's had a line drawn through him, despite having shown significantly more at AFL level than Mead from significantly less opportunities. Mead has never played and will never play as well as Williams did in 2023. And Dyl was 'slow' then too.

Am I being a dick here?

Burton is out of contract and likely delisted

Is there a point putting him through the knee surgery and effectively paying for it?
lol, wtf. Yes, this is beyond harsh.

He's not even certain to be delisted regardless.

Mead will likely come in for JHF.

A combo of Williams, Tommy A, Mackinlay, Berry, Moraes, Evans

for Rozee and Rioli

At one point in 2023 Williams was close to the best kick in the team and was a regular in the backline (a team which had Farrell and Houston) and whilst he wasn't the quickest he wasn't exposed too badly due to clever positioning. How is it that he has magically lost a leg and the ability to position himself these last two years?

It's not just Rioli that is an out.

good chance Williams plays too.

Hinkley lol. Rioli is being dropped to the sanfl to find form.........because he's had a foot issue.......and he hasn't been able to train. Well that makes no f***ing sense idiot. Is he injured or out of form? If he's injured why is/has he been playing? If he's out of form, why hasn't he been dropped? More bs.

Yep.. i'm pretty sure a foot injury doesn't make you scoff food either.. Think Rioli is going through a challenging time

I'd be suprised if they aren't just looking after his welfare and sheltering him from a Hawks game. Clearly there's something happening with him at the moment. Definitely looks to have gained weight in-season, and an injury doesn't magically improve from playing.

I can see Mead having a Sam Gray like last 6 weeks in the guts, which would probably be terrible for us long term.
He’s played in the guts enough at both levels to know what he can and mostly can’t do. He’s not got a skill set or level of speed, agility, or footy smarts that is up to it. More damningly, he doesn’t bring unquestionable effort and intensity to make up for his shortcomings

He’s still got a year to go on his contract I believe.
Unless we can find some club stupid enough to take him I reckon will be stuck with him next year.

He's the perfect depth player - I don't understand this need to push him out of the squad completely. There is simply not enough talentfor all players on the list to be AFL ready and at AFL level. You need good depth, and that's exactly what he is.

The issue we have is he's played most games this season - and that's a result of the poor depth and quality in the list, not on Mead himself.

In an ideal world, Mead would be playing ~5 games a season, covering for others when there's a few injuries or suspensions. He is there to put pressure on the guys in the team. He is absolutely good enough to do that role.

He should be 23-27th on the list.

Or on the flip side, he hit a rich vein of form for a period of time, and got rewarded for it. As soon as he returned the next season, it was evident that he had reverted to his usual level, and lost his spot.

Wouldn't be the first time a player hit a purple patch and never got near that again.

He's a great kick, has football smarts - but has some glaring deficiencies that get exposed at AFL level. Some he can't fix (lack of pace) - but others he can (Fitness/work rate). It’s no surprise that his best season was off the back of being delisted and re-rookied
