Surely we wont go in as tall this time. Melbourne are a lot quicker side down front then Geelong.
I'd like to see one of Schofield/McKenzie out but I don't think it will happen. I don't know how many times I've heard Simmo say over the past few days that McKenzie in particular can play tall or short (he can't) and that Schofield is flexible (a little truer).

It worked as I don't think Menzel has any lateral movement due to multiple reconstructions but the moment he comes up on a small who still has sideways movement Emac will be in trouble.

Has to be a change other than the obvious Nelson. We can't rely on us bringing that kind of intensity to every game to cover for unbalanced team selection. Or more that we should but we shouldn't just say to hell with team selection if we bring that kind of intensity every week.

Surely we're too tall with all of Mackenzie, Schofield AND Barrass in the backline.

And that's not including McGovern if JK comes back and he's shifted back into defense as well.

I mean who would they all play on? Hogan is still out. Who are the demons tall forwards?

Their starting forward line last week was;
HF - Melksham, Watts, Hannan
FF - Bugg, Petracca, Garlett

o_O Plus Watts is in doubt as well.

Hope he gets up for us, would be a terrific addition. :$
Dunno man, you could swap him for Priddis i suppose, but Priddis has a Brownlow, so he's clearly better.

I would actually go 3 changes.

Wellers for Nelson is logical as Garlett and Bug are fast.

If Priddis is playing through his niggle, good time to rest him against a fast Melbourne. Sure Parto would offer us something and deserves the chance. I think Parto is the sort of player that will rise to the next level. The more elite it gets, I am hoping the better Parto responds. Roll the dice I say.

Lecras has to go. No goals since May 6 and his aversion to manning up against rebounding defenders will see us exposed with Vince and Hunt. Hill an option but also Karpany.

Much focus on Lecra's poor form this past month. When you look at it though its clear he was injured in the game against Essendon which is what forced him out against GWS. In his return this past two games he has been bog average and has compounded things by kicking 0.9. I personally think he's got a lot to offer towards the pointy end of the season provided he can get his body right and build some form. Cripps is a far greater concern.

Out - Cripps, Nelson
In - Wellingham, Hill

I'd also agree we are far too tall down back but I cant bear the thought of re-introducing Butler or Masten. Its just such a shame Nelson and Watson have been injured.

If Kennedy is fit he comes in for Petrie

I feel Cripps is just a result of missing the games he did. He's been getting to the right spots, just is too gassed to convert. Hopefully he can get his tank back to where it was so he can capitalise on the opportunities he is creating.
That was my thoughts as well. I was interested as to why Xsess sees him as a concern greater than LeCras' form.

Hill comes in because he plays his best games after being treated like a beaten cur dog by the MC and shouldn't have been dropped in the first place. So IMO this is a choice between two small forwards, both horribly out of form.

- One is a noted goal kicker but isn't kicking goals.
- One is a defensive forward but isn't providing defence (or goals).

In the past month the non goal kicking goal kicker has still provided more possessions, marks and tackles than the defensive forward (who has admittedly bobbed up with a couple of Joe the gooses). My rationale is simply that if the defensive small forward isn't proving intensity at the contest, getting his hands on the footy, laying tackles or otherwise doing his job you lose nothing playing the forward who is providing slightly more in the contest but is far most likely to impact the scoreboard.

Extrapolating out to the overall season the case is even more compelling. Lecras leads every statistical category with the exception of a -1 tackle a game diff. Cripps is having a pretty poor year and there will be more pressure from outside of the team (looking at you Rioli) if he continues his current vein of form. Lecras just needs to rediscover what he was providing prior to the injury and you almost certainly have to play him come finals.

For goodness sake give Karpany an extended run.If hes not good enough by now get rid of him.I thought in his brief appearances that he was quite classy. This is not our premiership year and last week doesnt change things. One tough home win means nothing!!We need to show that committment week in week out.Look at Cole coming in;he gave us a tougher edge.He wont be at that peak every week but you know he has the goods.duggan the same, nelson the same. This is the year we build a new culture.Get rid of some of the older under achievers and get some games into younger hungrier players.Hopefully when NN and a fully fit Lycett come back in 2018 they will find a tougher meaner side playing who they wont have to carry.

I agree Xsses,Cripps can go as far as im concerned.YEH YEH quote all the stats you like but he epitomises the flat track bully title.Cmon Rioli.Francis Watson would star in a forward pocket.People that can chase and tackle but more importantly have flair and vision.
