Jesus how competitive is it when Hogan and Acres are barely being considered for selection?

This is a far cry from a few years ago when we had Sutcliffe and Sheridan in defence, Suban and D. Pearce in the middle, Kersten, Matera and a washed up Ballantyne in forward.

I am just shocked at the improvement in acquiring skilled players. Another top 10 draft pick this year and we could have 8 top tier recruits on field next year.

Agreed, its nice looking forward to the game each week while also being excited about trade/draft. Think we are also at a stage where we dont expect results, so its kind of hard to be disappointed. Bit of a sweet spot at the moment.

The only disclaimer I'll make is that it would be damn tasty to see Young and Sturt out there as well, getting better each week. Young must be absolutely chomping to get back out there as he see's his best mate dominate each week
the mental breakdown i had last sat night disagrees :tearsofjoy:

Also good to see us improve as the season goes on for a change rather than burn out
We were in a hub, then had 4 home games in a row (like a vic club) and then we'll head to another hub. Will probably struggle away again.

Question for y’all- can we beat the Giants this week? They will be desperate for the win.
They’re a Prima Donna team. Individuals that want to be classy offensively, but not necessary up for a scrap. How did they capitulate against Sydney then we locked Sydney to 2 goals a week after?
We should have their measure. Our midfield have been dirty with their pressure and intent. Defence can hold up.
Forwards need to really fire, as usual.

Don’t think we will. Took a while to hit our stride in the first hub. But a young squad heading over, injuries lessening. More optimism and positivity.
Can beat Melbourne, North and Bulldogs.

I think Phil Davis is due back this week.
Yep but he played last season as well. Matera kicked 4, Hoges 3, Tabs 3 and Walters 3. Tabs could have kicked a bag. They also couldn't deal with Langdon's speed. They tagged BHill out of the game. Switta had some majestic moves that are embedded into my memory.

Cameron (4) and Finlayson (3) kicked most of their goals but a lot of it was from fast breaks out the back. Brent Daniels looked like a superhero for them at times in that game but every time I've watched them this year he's looked a complete liability.

Think we go in as underdogs but if the mids aren't too tired and we bring the pressure I'd back us in at home.

I feel reasonably confident we can put up a consistent performance. Similar to recent weeks. The result will depend on which GWS team shows up. The last 3 quarters against WC and we probably lose. The Sydney performance and we win. Something in between and it will be a coin toss.

I'm looking for a big game from Conca. Has been in good negating form and I think Greene is the most important player for GWS.

I think so too, especially since our first hub game is Richmond and they’ve really pumped us in recent years. Might knock the wind out of our sails a bit.
