He's had more tackles than Rosa, Butler, Yeo, Wellingham, Sheppard etc etc. Which proves absolutely nothing.

Selective usage of stats from a small sample is pretty disingenuous.

I agree its a small sample size. Doesnt mean those stats dont reflect season to date, which is what we are all discussing.

The correlation between contested possessions and tackles was disappointing. He is obviously finding himself in those situations a lot but not being entirely effective from a defensive point of view.

Gaff is getting less contested ball but more tackles, so that to me says he is working harder..

Since when has the sub been a "niche role"? All it is is sitting on a bench doing sweet **** all for 3 qtrs, while our spuds on the middle get decimated.

Straight swaps? I wouldn't expect any surprises based on that and would expect all of them to play not sub. Sheed as Sub and Duggan full minutes? I don't see any other "sub type" players outside of Hill maybe.

Provided Paddy's in as the sub to give Duggan a full game I'm reasonably happy with those changes. He'd be a better sub than Colledge and arguably Hutch, who's probably better served by getting another full WAFL game under his belt anyway.

Lycett's been in pretty ordinary form and Sinclair has the ability to play on a forward if need be, as does McInnes.

I suspect he'd be playing WAFL. IIRC we tended not to play our first year players for ages before the sub rule came in. I wish Simpson would do a Lyon and pull one of our players from the ground if they're not performing early on, rather than just waiting until the start of the 4th quarter.

All of those debutants (and I'll throw in Tunbridge who is quite young) have all performed far better than McGinnity this season. So keep playing them in front of them. McGinnity represents treading water, we need to progress and move forward.

They reckon they aren't ready and you can't play too much of them. But bringing in duggan for a full game and playing college as a sub is not too many in my opinion.

Don't think Colledge is a great option as sub tbh. He's just too slow to come on and have an impact.

I with TFS on this one - I'm a bit meh about it until I see the role he plays. If he's our fourth choice tagger so be it. If he plays as a defensive forward I'll probably smash my computer.

Brad scott says if you employ a tagger and it doesnt work you effectively play a man short . yarran and murphy were off the chain with spud on them were they not

Paddy simply has to be sub. I can't see why else we'd bring him in. With Bennell coming in he can play down back and we can shift Wellingham up the ground to tag instead of Rosa.
