Changes v Collingwood

I dont mind the changes. I wouldnt have dropped Krak but the reason given on the website is understandable enough. Defensively he needs to improve.

I like O'Shea coming back in. Hopefully he can perform the role dropping in front of Cloke like he did in that final 2 years ago. I prefer him to Hoon. Amon gives us pace and skill going forward.

Impey to play on Elliott.

I don't have much faith in Impey tonight at all. Elliott, despite his small stature, plays tall. Jonas would have been the perfect matchup for him tonight, but he has no form and I've wanted him dropped for a while. I actually think that Clurey may be a better option to take on Elliott. Bigger body, can run all day and is defensively sound. Of course, if they match Impey up on Elliott, I hope that Impey is aggressive and makes Elliott accountable when we are pushing up the field.

No its not. 20 other players out there.
Yes it is, we lost our counter attack and the speed necessary to clean up errant kicks. These two are the biggest losses we could have had structure wise.

White being poor before injury is still missing White.

The issue with dropping Krak because he's not good enough defensively is that dropping him will lower our overall kicking efficiency on the rebound and require everyone else to have to defend harder from turnovers.

It's all well and good to be a defence first team, but we're averaging 68 points scored a game in our losses. We need to learn to hit the scoreboard and in doing so our defence will sort itself out. We've only conceded 100 points 3 times all year, and one of those was in a win.

Teams are grinding us out. What we need to improve is our attack. Shuffling the defensive deckchairs while we still have absolutely no answer to our offensive woes is very frustrating.

Krak didn't have a bag kicked on him plus they seem to swing him from back to forward. Broadbent, Jonas and Pittard one on one defending is abysmal let alone their DE% this year. There is no consistency in the reasons that the coaches gave in supporting Kraks omission. If they had consistency then the whole back line would of been dropped with half the mids. Soft calls by the coaching staff yet again!

Like previously mentioned while he is not the best defender he certainly is one of the best ball users in the team which is a department we have lacked for the whole year. Sam Mitchell and Suckling are some of the best distributors in the AFL and both have questionable defending abilities. Coaching staff are great at changing the peripheral players but keep playing the main core no matter how they play! Not a great message to send young aspiring players that get promised games on form. The team has clearly not be 'one' in attitude and in system in most games this year, a division has clearly been created.

So basically are the coaching staff saying the players dropped were the main reasons why we loss?

I honestly think that the majority of our 'guns' would look terrible at the moment if dropped to the SANFL and guys like Schulz would look as good as Butcher looks playing for the Maggies!

we'll see tonight i guess. There is always the argument of good kicks or good work to get open. Dropping Yonus leaving us with 3 pretty mobile big men and O'Shea coming in I think we will be capable of creating some space and run out of the back half. Not going to repeatedly argue this but i am very interested in seeing how we fair tonight with our hit ups out of the back half.

but we know the real reason he was dropped is that he only plays the first half then can't get a touch... and that's backed up by the stats... so I'm not sure why there is so much uproar on here?

Sounds like the perfect sub.

Whilst i was surprised with Krak and Hoon missing out, i can understand the reasons behind it and they're things we don't notice so much as supporters when we watch the game. On the flipside the in's aren't too bad and i'm clinging to the hope that they will make the most of their opportunity and improve our performance.

But at the end of the day, especially for this game, we need our leaders to stand up.

i understand the thinking behind it. krakouer is good and adds to a team - but that's just it, we don't play like a team yet and the coaches are desperately trying to put together a competitive TEAM. so he's got nothing to add to. do you want him in kicking 2 goals in another loss, adding some flair to a dismantled team? or do you want the coaches to pick players they believe can stick to what they want to pull off? remember how far back krak is coming from - he'll probably never be a four quarter 'league standard athelete" we have to have the team in place already for guys like that to excel.

What's worse about the whole 'shuffling fringe players' thing is that we've dropped fringe players who are in form to bring in fringe players who are out of form. O'Shea was hot garbage against the Crows and Neade started off like a house on fire but only had 5 touches after quarter time. Krak and Colquhoun both had better games at AFL level than those two did at SANFL level.
There is a bigger plan. All will be revealed. This is the crap year we had had to have.

The thing that baffles me with Hoon's omission is that it seems to imply that they hoped for more from him when they brought him in. If a player does what you hope from them you don't drop them. Sure, he hasn't been brilliant, but he's a fringe player. Surely even his biggest critics on this board would admit he's exceeded expectations, even though he obviously still has areas to work on. I just don't get it. If they don't think his AFL form has been good enough, why'd they bring him in in the first place?

I can't believe my buddy krak has been dropped. That said I'm more disappointed Harvey isn't playing.

Couldn't agree more. Of our back 6 who do you trust to hit a target on the rebound? With Polec out, Krak dropped and Hartlett playing a more advanced role (or just not pushing back?) we lack reliable footskills from half back. It's costing us offensively and also goals with Yonas et al turning the ball over.

I'm a bit surprise Hammer hasn't been a lock at half back since Polec went down.
