In - Wood, Dick, Goldsack,

Out - O'Bree, Pendles (inj), Rocca (inj)

Davis must be playing hurt - he hardly spends any time in the midfield anymore and we really miss his skill there. We are a vanilla midfield without him there.

McCarthey must stay in - his last quarter showed he wanted it, he is a hardnut and showed up some of the more experienced players with his courage. Braver and more skillful than O'Bree, Johnson etc.

Fraser is lucky that Rocca will be out injured.

Dane Swan and Heath Shaw are the only 2 players who got their hands on the ball more than Toovey and Jono in our team! (only by a couple of times too!).

Those who headhunt Toovey after today's game are complete lunatics.

Those who want to headhunt Jono after today's first half are complete muppets.

reid is sh*t!!! he will be absolutely manhandled and out back 6 will be disrupted. we could not do anything about reiwoldt today. the ball was coming in that much and that well that no one could have stopped him. rocca was ok. i would rather him than rusling/dawes or reid. they havent got a strong asset, where as rocca can take a grab. today's game was lost in the midfield:

1. pendles is a huge loss (clearences the last two weeks have been average and you automatically lose 25+ possies a game.
2. swan, didak, davis, medhurst, thomas, lockyer, obree, beams, sidebottom, mcarthy
ALL MUST LIFT! our mids were butchered today.
3. we had 270 possies for the game! we simply didnt show up. we have to do better and we must get over today and learn form it.
4. even playing absolutely shithouse and losing a key mid, we only lost by 28. we should have lost by 50.

OUT: pendles
IN: wellingham/macaffer (through the midfield - he is a hard body and can play forward if things aren't workign out)

keep the rest providing no one is unable through injury
your thoughts???

Nobody is headhunting Toovey, in fact, everyone is acknowledging he played a good game today.

I really must be watching a different Ben Johnson to you....I have the same reaction when people say that Ben Johnson should be tagging the best opposition midfielder.

His decision making, disposal....pretty much everything bar his running capacity is sub standard.

All those saying Stanley should get a game are seriously kidding yourselves. He's too slow in the H&A season, he'd be just terrible in a final. A dead set cert to be de-listed at the end of this season.

If anybody think we can win with all of Beams, Sidebottom, Dick and McCarthy in the team should get their head examined. Too young, too inexperienced and not good enough atm. Two of the above an absolute maximum in any Collingwood team.

Into the team should come Dick and out should be a minimum of two.

We played a few young players earlier in the year and it didnt work then - why the hell would you do it in the finals?

Maybe alot of people on here think he was a tagger today, but we have only one tagger at times and thats Toovey, otherwise we play our own game... not theirs.

I have no idea.

Whose form do we take seriously from yesterdays smacking of a piss poor Casey, and who do we decide goes out of a side that was lucky to have 5 players that performed to the level of their ability.

We also have to weigh up the 6 day break and how many changes we need in reality to go in with the legs to win it.

There could be as many as 5 changes, or their could be as little as 2 changes.

Here's my go;

In: Wood, Wellingham, Dick, Goldsack

Out: Rocca (inj), Pendlebury (inj:thumbsd:), McCarthy, Sidebottom

Agree with the outs... unsure about Goldsack.

Is Marty a chance instead?

Marty was pretty avergae in the VFL on the weekend, despite the VFL team winning by over 100 points. So I'm not sure about his inclusion.

Possibly, but I'm basing this on the route I think the coaching staff will take.

Goldsack seems to be an automatic in when we have a loss, and then seems to move out of the side when we get back on track.

His versatility would come in handy against the crows as he can take talls and smalls.

Interesting that a lot of you want Rocca dropped whether he is injured or not. At the moment with Bock out, one area where we are perhaps vunerable is against big-bodied forwards. Scott Stevens has been filling in ok but hasn't come up against a genuine marking target yet.

When was the last time a player made his AFL debut in a final?

I know it won't happen but I can't wait until we see Jarryd Blair at AFL level. Everything he has done this year in the VFL has been class, he makes smart decisions, uses the ball well in traffic, always puts his head over the ball and tackles well.

reid is sh*t!!! he will be absolutely manhandled and out back 6 will be disrupted.
Reid is not shit at all. He has only played two matches this season, but has been terrific in the VFL this season and he has progressed well. I think he will be a very good player for Collingwood for quite some time. I don't think he should play next week though.
we could not do anything about reiwoldt today. the ball was coming in that much and that well that no one could have stopped him.
Collingwood lacked a player to drop back into a hole for Reiwoldt to lead. Cameron Wood could have done that.
rocca was ok. i would rather him than rusling/dawes or reid.
Dawes should definitely be in before Rocca next week, whether he is injured or not.
they havent got a strong asset, where as rocca can take a grab.
Both Rocca and Dawes have played four matches this season. Rocca has averaged 2.8 marks, 7 disposals and he has kicked 4 goals. Dawes has averaged 4.5 marks, 13.2 disposals, and he has kicked 5 goals.
today's game was lost in the midfield
Definitely. Collingwood could not afford to lose such a creative player as Scott Pendlebury so early. Not only did it mean that he didn't have an influence, but it reduced rotations as well. The rest of the midfield all had a shocker which just made it worse. They did not show up to play and that was disappointing, and there is no way in my mind that a loss next week would be more disappointing than this one, even though it means elimination.
your thoughts???
Dawes, Wood, Clarke, Dick and Wellingham are all possible inclusions in my opinion. Nathan Brown, Goldsack, Reid and Macaffer may also be considered but not as likely. It seems that Pendlebury is out, while Rocca and McCarthy are definite omissions. Sidebottom and Johnson are possible omissions. On the performances of the past two weeks, there could be more, but there isn't a team that can drop them all.

They did not show up to play

What, marbles? :D

I would like to see Wellingham play, he is a good extractor, very clean hands, always seems to get his arms free to dish out a pass, and somehow finds space where there is none.

A cut throat final against Adelaide should show us his ability, and hopefully further his development for the better.

INS: Goldsack (put him on the wing) , Wood (better in the ruck than fraser), Dick (kicking 5 in the VFL is enough)
OUTS: Pendles, Rocca, McCarthy

TEAM -

B - O'Brien Presti Toovey
HB - Shaw L.Brown Maxwell
C - Lockyer Swan Goldsack
HF - Didak Cloke Davis
F - Dick Anthony Medhurst
R - Wood O'Bree Thomas
INT - Fraser Johnson Beams Sidebottom

What has to happen for us to have ANY chance:

Out: Rocca (inj), Pendles (inj), O'Bree, Johnson, Toovey, McCarthy, Lockyer
In: Wellingham, Wood, Dick, Clarke, Goldsack, Corrie

The outs are probably all justified to a point, but 7 changes is highly unlikely.

No way should Clarke and Corrie play. Clarke was awful in the 2s, Corrie kicked a couple of goals, but just about everyone did that.

Out: Pendles, Rocca, McCarthy
in: Wood/Dawes, Dick, Wellingham/Goldsack

Would love to see Toovey and Obree be dropped for their pitiful efforts, but lets be realistic, it aint gonna happen!

That is the most reactional set of changes I have ever seen there is no way we will make 7 changes coming into a final. You obviously have a personal vendetta against Johno and Toovey Johnson was hardly our worst and Toovey was probably one of our best. O'Bree and Lockyer had bad games but you can't drop them on one performance especially after the good seasons they have both be put in. Who in your list of ridiculous ins is a better at OB's role as for lockyer I'd rather 1 Lockyer to 10 Corrie.

My changes would be

OUT: Rocca (inj), Pendles (inj), McCarthy
IN: Wood, Wellingham, Cook/Dick

The first two are no-brainer's and whilst I think J-mac showed glimpses of the great player he will become I don't think he is there yet and he needs a full pre-season. I'd really like to see cook come in for him as he played really well at the VFL on the weekend and I think he gives us a bit of hardness at the contest which I think we lacked on Sunday. also he played well in the final against the crows last year so that may give him some confidence. On the other hand you have Dick who put in a dominating performance for the VFL and is a more creative player and has had a lot of senior experience this year.
I personally would prefer we go with cook but think will go with dick.
