But we still won both games so I didn`t really miss him at all
We won but that was a far from perfect game. We really lacked his defensive pressure up forward(especially late), his link up work and you could add his toughness would have helped.

You could say the same thing about us not missing NN's precence cause we won.

No point having two rucks who have no impact.
McInnes has possibly earned a call up.
As long as whoever comes in is a backup ruck. We lose all structure if we go with 1 ruck and then use McGovern and Darling etc as a second ruck. Also I wonder about Cripps. It might be completely coincidence, but I feel like Hill and Lecras have been better without him. Do we have too many similar plaers with him in the side?

your team looked a little top heavy today but Simpson seems to be a fan of the 2 ruckmen policy with him stating that last week in his press conference. Is Jetta a possibility ,? I think his current form has been subpar. Do you have any speed on your list as the bulldogs will test the likes of Priddis, Mitchell, Giles on the rebound? I think you miss Cripps defensive forward pressure. underrated

Not sure but i think Rioli has been fast trak'd to come in for Cripps i read in article. Hes available.
So
Ins Rioli, Duggan
Out Hutchings, Giles

Darling pinch hits in ruck.
Get him running.

Precisely, I think Vardy is getting there (towards running out a match as solo ruck) and as we saw today and in countless other matches in recent history winning the ruck duel doesn't win you the match always. Darling/Gov for the chop out. Shouldn't play two rucks just for the sake of it.
Don't think I could disagree with this post any harder. At the risk of basically repeating my previous reply, we always look absolutely terrible when we use these guys to pinch hit in the ruck.

At best Rioli might be able to play half a game for EP reserves and even that would be doubtful

Not even close to being ready to play AFL

Duggan should be an automatic in for Hutchings, but I don't know who to pick between McInnes and Giles.

Giles could possibly dominate the hitouts as the only proper ruckman against a Bulldogs side without a ruck, while McInnes has been in great form for EP and would be a better option up forward then Giles.

Additionally, Giles was just plain bad tonight, and we should reward McInnes for his WAFL form.

Who do we pick?

Six day break heading into the game so selection will depend a bit on who is sore

Bye for EP means no form line to base selections on but does mean we will have some players who are fresh as options if required

You'd think Duggan should be good to go with another weeks rest so he swaps back in for Hutchings

Ruck selection is intriguing - do we persevere with Giles and Vardy, drop one of them to give Mcinness a crack or replace a ruck with another running player to counter the Bulldogs run that destroyed us last year

Too often we've gone with taller options hoping the extra height will give us an advantage that hasn't eventuated. Any combination of Giles, Vardy or Mcinness isn't good enough to balance out the drop in running power

Be bold and give Karpany a crack in place of either Giles or Vardy. If not him be really stupid bold and give Lamb a run if we want to retain a bit of height

Concern woth mcinness is the same as last year with brown. If he comes in, doesnt work or know the running patterns properly he will just get in the way of kennedy and wont offer anything defensively. So i wouldnt play him unless hes told to work 40m out from our goal to the defensive side of the square. And to not be a pipecleaner like darling and actually provide a contest and bring the ball to ground

I wouldn't be surprised if simmo sticks with our rucks. Vardy showed promise early in the forward line and simmo might use him as our second tall this week to stretch their backline, while Giles shoulders most of the ruck.it should benefit Kennedy, darling and his attack on the ball will benefit our small. It's something I would like to see.

Interesting conundrum for the match committee for Dogs game.
Duggan for Hutchings lay down misere.
McInnes shouldn't be considered IMHO.
Real decision is go in with 2 rucks or 1 with consideration to Dogs running style.
Think the toughest decision might be who gets dropped, if one ruck, Giles or Vardy.
Giles may absolutely own the tapouts next weekend, (terrible today, but Ryder is a good player, one of the reasons Giles gave away silly
frees cos he knew he was out of his depth).
Vardy may not be as dominant, but who knows. Better ground coverage. His intent was very good today.
Think one ruck is the way to go, interested to see what MC decides.

Edit; Giles, Hutchings out
Karpany, Duggan in for mine.
Shame, Giles might miss out on having a blinder.

Redden seems to do nothing at the start of matches but I feel like he's been important late in games a few times this year. Dugg back in.
I noticed that he was a part of a few handball chains moving forward through the corridor in the 2nd half. I think this is the area he's working on as we sure need more of that linking run, and it would complement his possessions into the 20s consistently. Worth persisting with Redden, but Hutch is definitely depth right now...

Lamb in is an interesting proposition. Hawthorn was known for bringing in youngsters from Box Hill to play a role rather than as a reward for form. Right now we need outside run and have missed Cripps, who is an excellent endurance runner. Lamb might just fill in here nicely as a hard running half forward.

Schofield should come in for Giles.

I'm sure at least Schofield would of spoiled Ryder and co yesterday

And I'm sure he would have more impact around the ground

Out hutch

In Duggan

Ryder dominated but to be fair Giles competed hard and bought the ball down to the ground ..Ryder would have dominated most last night ....I'm ok with that

Because bulldogs don't have a Ryder type ...

Stringer out helps, he kicks red time goals as much as we like to give them up.
Dunkley (back up ruck #2 also to miss)
Boyd/Dunkley/Jong ruck trio. :|
(Jong can jump, is strong over head. He's their budget version of Yeo)

Redpath kicked 7 in the VFL so at a guess they'll go,
Out. Stringer/Dunkley
In. Redpath/Wallis

I'd be happy with Vardy/McInnes ruck combo. Giles "rest"
