Definitely think Shuey is carrying an injury. This bye cant come quick enough. That bed shit which led to a Daniher goal is so unlike him. Reckon he was in two minds - win the footy or protect myself from further injury. Is finding himself in contests he is trying to avoid and noticed against the Dogs when he was playing off a forward pocket and over the fat side so if we got out there he could use some of his skills in a bruise free fashion.

The good news is I reckon there's 10 players who could legitimately consider themselves chances of a call up this week - MacKenzie, Schofield, Nelson, Hutchings, Partington, Jetta, Karpany, Lamb, Hill and Petrie. Some more likely than others obviously.

So there's plenty of scope for the match committee to #sendamessage

Not sure yet.....

But let me tell you about a microwave story...
I had a pet rabbit when I was a kid one morning I went out to share a carrot with Bouncy the rabbit and he was frozen solid.

Been a quick thinker unlike Redden I put him in the Microwave zapped him for 40 seconds

And you wouldn't ******* believe it out hops bouncy the rabbit !!

Very good, full marks for quick thinking. I bet Redden would have waited till the rabbit returned to room temperature and ate the carrot before tackling it to ground.

IN: Nelson
OUT: Wellingham (Ankle)

No other changes required, because I hear the team has pinky sweared not to mentally shit the bed ever again. Apparently a similar pinky swear was attempted after the Hawthorn game but some of the players used an incorrect technique (palms must be kissed afterwards) which is why it didn't work. I'm sure this time everything will be fine.

I don't like that Nic Nat information. Reeks of desperation.

Don't know about that. Simpson only said a call would be made after the bye which is not new information. Looking at the context, it appears Simpson was only asked the question.

I daresay if we sit 8-3 at the bye as opposed to 6-5, there will be a stronger chance he will play. But we already knew that.

I understand that bringing in Partington seems tempting, but IMO he just isn't ready to be able to impact in a game where we'll need him to. Let him develop in the WAFL and think about bringing him in for game we're favourites for, Brisbane or Carlton at Domain spring to mind.

Simmo has to be creative with NN tbh. Probably use him as the second ruck options that sits at FF for majority of the game.

The only good thing going for Parto is his ability to find the footy. But it will be interesting if he can do that on a wing or at hff.

Nic Nat joined in limited match situation training today for 1st time since ACL op. Changed direction without any worries, positive step.

Club says he has made more vigorous movements and changes of direction in rehab. Decision if Nic gets back in 2017 looms after rd12 bye.

He is doing about the same as Mutimer before he got a game and we gave him a shot. He is dong what is asked of him and racking up disposals so it cannot hurt to give him a shot as sometimes surrounded by senior players you might step up. Duggan wasn't really doing to much earlier in the year and yet we have given him a shot. What we have to do though is spend more time putting Mutimer and Partington in the center to give them exposure for the long term but with Priddis he is always there and he cant really play anywhere else.

I disagree. From the sounds of things, Mutimer was impacting the game for East Perth alot more effectively. He was getting alot more inside fifties for one thing. He has a stronger body and contested game than Partington - and I'd be interested in seeing a 'metres gained' stat comparison between the two. Mutimer I think is much more equipped to play AFL at this stage at the same age. He's physically developed enough to get a run on ball already in my view, while I couldn't say the same for Partington.

Personally looked as though he thought he was going to take possession and started to try and wrong foot Daniher but fumbled the ball and then was wrong footed himself.

We just don't know unless we give them a chance. Fremantle did it by bringing in players like Hughes, Balic, Grey and Logue this year who were all doing OK in the WAFL before getting the call up. Our senior players are not doing the job so bringing in a few younger guys can only make them think S**t i got to lift my game here! We can still blood players and look to contend in this ridiculously even season.

Fair enough.

Gave the ground a fair pounding after that did Shue.

I love how Parto cant get a game according to some because his disposal isnt perfect, yet we have the biggest butcherer of the footy as our number one mid haha

Shuey's disposal is pretty good usually

I reckon Schofield and McKenzie (if he's finding form) offers this team the best hope of making a meaningful structural change. Here's two tall senior players who can come in and potentially offer a new dynamic, for example releasing McGovern up the ground where opposition talls have absolutely flogged us.

I for one welcome our new 195cm+ overlords.

Spent it before he had it with a big body heading his way instead of riding the bump. I think we are splitting hairs, really. It was uncharacteristic and when viewed with how he's been positioned lately it makes me think he's far from 100%

Fair enough personally just don't think a guy who outs his neck on the chopping block to have his head taken off to get a free kick is avoiding contact so you are probably right he is not 100%

Priddis is the primary extractor and has the contested game to compensate (though this is diminishing with age).

It's not Partington footskills as such that are the issue - it's more how he uses them. Alot of his disposals are short and sideways, he doesn't really offer much in terms of moving the ball positively. His lack of inside fifty's reflect that. Couple that with the fact that his lack of contested game (which will be exacerbated at AFL level) and he just doesn't really offer much. He will find the ball easily and generally use it cleanly but he needs to develop some 'hurt factor'.

While we're on the issue of Priddis, he may be a poor kick but it's not that he butchers it, it's just that the trajectory and the time he takes to effect the kick halts momentum. He doesn't really turn it over often. But that's getting off topic.

Comes with experience, you can teach that. He is gathering the ball and is a smart footballer, the rest will follow.

To some extent it is instinctive.

But in any case, I'm not trying to write the kid off. I'm just explaining why I think he's not really in the frame for selection despite averaging 30 possessions a game.
