Birchall and Coleman at least. Lane or Archie for Fullarton. Maybe even drop Oscar instead.

In T Berry and another midfielder from the ressies. Doesn't matter who but they must be prepared to defend.

say coleman, fullarton and Birchall out
in T Berry, Cockatoo and either Archie/Lane

Think Oscar needs another ruck to help.
Not sure he is a #1 ruck against top tier rucks.
Also do we bring back Ah Chee for Prior..

I want Archie in. Big O worked so much better with a 2nd ruck. Pinch hitting from Fullarton doesn't do it for me. Although he was good tonight i'd prefer Smith

Which ground will we be sent to this week? If Hawks want to tank then they should request to play this at the Gabba. Otherwise Metricon again or Tasmania. Maybe Adelaide?

Tassie hopefully. Had enough of Metricon. No wonder the Suns can't keep players.

Birchall definitely. Is in the team for his kicking yet has struggled recently with not only execution but his decision-making too.

Oscar was soundly beaten but he’s still clearly our best bet. Fullarton has some nice attributes but he needs some time in the gym. Too easily pushed off it.

J Berry in hopefully, and maybe Cockatoo if he is able to get through 70% game time (haven’t seen him play this year, but surely wouldn’t be worse than a few out there tonight). Unfortunately, with the injuries we’ve got, we are going to find it difficult to challenge from here.

Lane was playing WAFL Reserves a few weeks ago, not even remotely close to being able to play AFL. Unfortunately Archie just hasn’t come up to scratch. All chips are in the Big O basket for this year at the very least. So no change to the ruck and ruck relief set up I’d say.

The two berries (provided Jarrod is over his calf issue) will be shoe ins to come into the side next week, perhaps even Nakia which would be a bit of a Hail Mary.

Will be interesting to see what the coaching committee do. A few young lads look a little bit off at the moment, as well as some of the senior guys. Injuries have forced their hand a little in terms of options and potential changes.

Kiddy for T. Berry

I don't really know what else. We've got nothing available. Ah Chee back in for Prior? Prior wasn't great but I'd also like him to get more game time.

Tom Berry for Kiddy. Ah Chee for Prior. Lester won't get dropped. We are already missing Gardiner and Adams and Hawks don't have a lot of monsters up forward. Birchall likewise won't get dropped. Our depth doesn't look so great now with injuries and reserves getting thumped.

Maybe put Cockatoo as med sub if he is ready?

Quite a few who could go after the last couple of weeks. I'd like to see us go with 2 rucks so bring Smith in, T Berry for Coleman maybe, there is no personnel that is going to come in and instantly transform us, we are flat as a biscuit right now, just need to get over the Hawks (they will see a perfect opportunity to nail us), when we finally get back to the Gabba after 5 weeks away we will find some form and settle back down a bit.

Coleman and Birchall would have to be out. Probably for Terry and Ah Chee. Although if we had any other defenders then I would put Ah Chee forward.

Fullarton is a poor forward and not great ruck so think we almost have no choice but to bring Archie back in and put Oscar forward again

Also would be tempted to bring in another midfielder for Prior. Carrying too many low tog kids

Tassie hopefully. Had enough of Metricon. No wonder the Suns can't keep players.
Too right, it's in a swamp in the middle of nowhere and the surface is a cow paddock. I wish the AFL had just given the licence to the Southport Sharks instead of trying to start their own club, because then they might have upgraded their own ground to AFL standard instead of playing in Carrara.

As for changes, I agree with most of the others. Archie for Fullarton, Ah Chee for Birchall/Lester, Berry 2 for Coleman. I'd like to bring Cockatoo in but I'd be concerned whether he's had enough games yet to be confident in him not getting injured immediately.

I'm not going sit here and pretend Archie has been impressive, but he's the only mature ruck we've got besides Oscar. And I maintain Archie is a better ruck than Fullarton is as a forward right now, so I'd just take a deep breath and put Archie at ruck with Oscar relieving and also playing forward.

Right now we don't have someone that can come in and add some excitement to the team, no debut thats long waited, no returning star. we need a lift some excitement, something different to lift the mood from the last 2 weeks.

We have waited for Charlie to grab a game and shake it - alas its not happening and we need something new around the middle of the field. Cockatoo seems the one but he is a long way off his best, J Berry is not fit then he is more a brut than a x-factor that will rip a game open. Oh for Cam Rayner to be back. We have to get McCluggage, Lyons, Zorko, Neal to work together, defend and win more clean ball. They need to lead Robinson, Bailey, Prior but it's not happening.

Coleman is out for sure, maybe Joyce in that midfield or go with Ely or CEY and tell then to play a role, belt someone (tag/manhandle), get some anger and aggression in there.

I didn't mind Fullerton, his hands and ground work are really good he needs the time in the top grade getting belted by 100 points in reserves is not developing him. Payne is on the same development path, he is getting better but Lester - he is a journeyman and a rock that rolls slowly but we may have to persist until Gardnier or Adams are back.

I think we need to be wary of not getting more inexperienced.

And we also need to accept Hipwood is gone and actually re-jig our forward set up rather than pretend we still have 3 good key forwards.

So what about a forward line with more of a focus on pressure and lowering our eyes?
T Berry in for Coleman. If ready maybe Nakia for Fullarton and McStay to go back-up ruck? why not? Our 3 key forwards was our point of difference. So make it a speedy forward line instead.

Hoping Fagan realises Birchall is not Hodge. It’s becoming painful. No advantage from his kicking and horribly exposed when the other team is on a fast break. Straight swap for Ah Chee.

J Berry for Prior when fit. Berry could be so important - he’s the sort of player really good at neutralising a centre square contest when we are getting monstered like last night. Prior could be an option for the backline for Birchall if Fagan as to have a kicker. Prior has potential at least.

agree with lack of plan b. We seem unable to stop momentum out of the middle. And then get SO bogged down in the backline. We have a kick it out plan but 50% of it (Birchall) just chips it sideways or turns it over. Dizzy also a very underrated kick. So let’s start running it a bit more, or at least spreading for options with faster players ie Ah Chee / prior

yes we are down and we won’t play badly every week. But this is a wake up call. I really hope Fagan sees it that way

If you look at our main problems.
1) Too slow in backline. Lester stays as Gardiner and Adams are out. We have no KPD available.
So then you look at Birchall. Birchall and Rich are there to provide a kick out. I thought with kick out and man on the mark rule this could be a weapon. Not so :(
We either kick to pocket to someone like Andrews/Payne who are not great kicks. Then they bomb to the wing
or we kick to the pack on the wing for stoppage. Seems #1 game plan
Very rarely do we do something more attacking.
When Oscar getting beaten on throw ins it just comes back and we do it again :(

I have been a big Birchall supporter although time has come. Although look at our VFL side..for someone pushing for a spot
Prior not sure as of now above him and played last night. Nor Ballenden or Carter or B Smith.
Cockatoo been playing on the ball more or forward.
So leaves Ah Chee or really someone who not been playing the HB role in VFL or AFL side
Hence he will keep playing.

2) Too slow in the mid if teams burst. Neale, Lyons are great when they get it.. Although out paced defensively. You would not drop either
Although then we running Zorko, McCluggage, Dev, M Robbo, Bailey, McCarthy, Prior, Kiddy though the mid/wing
M Robbo throws his body around cannot fault his output. Although he does then end up going to ground.
We have no speed through mid. Again look at 2nd.. J Berry not right. Joyce more like a Neale type. Matho not the answer
T Berry has speed not great disposal although worth a try I say in the mid more.
Also Cockatoo. He improved in the last month.. Not sure he ready does seem a class above in VFL

3) Ruck.. Big O gets beaten then starts giving away frees
Archie not sure the answer although worth trying.. Fullarton great at ground level.. did better last night in ruck although does not contested mark much.
Lane shows glimpses honestly do we just go with him over Fullarton.
Not sure Archie be there in 2022.. So get games into Lane now.

4) Forward line.. Honestly we have Joe, McStay, Charlie and McCarthy
Should be better. Not sure lack of leading or just crap kicking in.. Something not right there.
We do seem to bomb more then most teams I watch.. Be interesting to know intercept marks in forward 50 where we stand
In the VFL we have H Smith, Lane, B Coleman and McFayden..
none of those been standard outs.. Does not help we getting smashed recently

Honestly no idea easy fix. Maybe we start dropping players might get a rocket up some.
for mine still say Birchall, Kiddy and Fullarton out
for T Berry, Cockatoo and Archie/Lane
Also as said above Prior out for AhChee? maybe as well

Out: FEAR.

In: MONGREL.

Where's browny when you need him? Where's that old Lions spirit? Boys should be REELING after this effort.

I'm fuming. Time to start sinking tinnies and punching on.
