I disagree personally, if fit he (McVeigh) slots straight back into the side for mine. He's far too good to be running around in the VFL.

McVeigh hasn't shown he's "far too good" in around 18 months.

He's had a series of injuries and off-field incidents which is partly to blame, but that's neither here no there; the fact is, each time he's come straight back in, and 9 times out of 10 he's peformed no better than the person he's pushed out.

He was very ordinary in defence against Fremantle, for example. All in my opinion, of course.

Especially if Fletch can go to Le Cras, i see no match up for Henry.
And if Fletch can't go to Le Cras for some reason, i really don't want Slattery on him anyway!
stfu. Slattery played well on Saturday, Betts did nothing while Henry was on him. He pulled a goal out of his arse and when Henry was moved to Yarran because he was dangerous, Yarran did nothing as well. Slattery shouldn't play on LeCras, as Lecca is more of a marking small forward anyway, and he plays poor on them most of the time. would prefer him on a crumber

That is true, Le Cras is quite good at holding catches.. I mean marks.

This is keeping in mind a short break, long flight and large playing surface.

OUTS:
Houli - Sick of his turnovers and indesiveness
Longergan - Avg match and avg tank
Melksham - Bruising debut and limited pre-season, emphasise he'll be back in team soon

INS:
Hurley - Gun will improve the forward line even more
Howlett - Stiff to get dropped, good runner and finds the ball
Davey - Good Bendigo outing and pace suits Subi

B: Fletcher Pears Slattery
HB: Dempsey Hooker Dyson
C: Winderlich Welsh Stanton
HF: Gumbleton Hurley Zaharakis
F: Davey Ryder Williams
Ru: Hille Watson Lovett-Murray
Int: Colyer Reimers Howlett Hocking

Actually, I agreee with everything you've said, DaSox.

Obviously wouldn't want to see Melksham out however, so hopefully he's 100%.

Neither would I, but dunno how hard it is for a skinny 18 year old who goes in hard to back up after his first game then travel to Perth on a 6 day break, time will tell.

just sick of taking slow unfit sides to Perth and getting pumped, big game on the Friday night stage, with falling to 1-3 at stake.

I disagree with you there.

I thought McVeigh was very good against Fremantle. He repelled quite a few attacks, was very strong over the ball and used the ball very well. He also went forward and kicked a very important goal.

He is a walk up start if fit.

Fair enough.

We obviously saw it very differently. Too often I saw him leaving his man for a Pears or Fletcher to cover, and on a few occasions was out-bodied by his opponent.

I'm not a hater; his 2008 form was brilliant, but I'm yet to see anything since then that warrants immediate re-calls.

Hope hope Knights doesn't make the same mistake that's he has made the past few times we've gone to Subi and that is take in underdone players. Too many times we run out of legs and we are behind by 20+ points are quarter time.

It might be a mental thing but it's about time we fixed this record with a win on the weekend. There are no excuses, we've had a good run with injuries and we've come off a win. The only thing is that Wesr Coast will be feeling the pressure from the home crowd as they would be expected to win at home.

Take in a fully fit and a team that's willing to give 100%.

I also hope Knights and the coaching staff ripped down the points posts this week and told his players that they only have 2 posts to get the ball through. Kicking a point = Out of bounds on the full. It's that simple.

If he can finish his work I think davey could be the spark we need over in subi. He'll be stinging from his axing and should put a solid 4 qtr game.
Hurley - no brainer as he's all class. sign him dons
Colyer a bit stiff but knights won't keep two new blokes in two weeks in a row..

No more than 2 changes from a winning side, I'm sure the boys know they can play better than the scrappy effort on sat night and a win here can really inject some confidence into the squad.

stfu. Betts had more scoring shots than any other player in the game. Yarran dangerous? I was at the game and watched the replay, he was his typical soft self... yet he still had more contested possessions than Slattery.

Donners, Betts may have been their best forward, but you should really acknowledge that he kicked one of his goals on Dyson, and for much of the match he was followed by Dyson, Houli and even Stanton for a short period.

Slattery did his job on Saturday night.

Womb, it's always someone else's fault.

If people actually followed Slattery beyond "Oh he started on Betts. Betts kicked 5 goals. Must be Hank's fault!", others wouldn't need to point out what should be the obvious.

There have been plenty of games where Slattery's been killed, but there seems to be a crowd on here that get their claws out for the sake of it.

Slattery struggles against the small marking forwards (Medhurst, Ballantyne, SJ, Ebert), so I honestly hope he doesn't play on LeCras. He's not good enough for those sorts of players. Feel better now?

Tottally agree Whomb

people are quick to jump on ship when its flying, but quick to jump off when 'it's sinking'.
