Out: Selwood
In: Rosa

B: Butler, McGovern, Sheppard
HB: Hurn, Schofield, Wellingham
C: Gaff, Priddis, Yeo
HF: LeCras, Darling, Masten
F: Cripps, Kennedy, Sinclair
R: Naitanui, Shuey, Sheed
I: Ellis, Hill, Duggan
S: Rosa
E: McInnes, Nelson, Colledge (held over)

Think it's time Selwood was sent back down to East Perth to find some touch. Starting him as the sub was likely a sign he's on thin ice, getting 50% DE when he came on was the final straw.

Sinclair is lucky Lycett is out of form...he has done very little the last few games. Selwood needs some touch, and Duggan hasn't had much of the ball of late.

That would be my preferred team also; probably only change would be Swapping rosa with Duggan, for player management reasons.

Wouldn't be surprised to see hutch come in actually, considering he travelled instead of rosa.

Having a more experienced team next week may not be a bad idea. You'd think the first 10-15 minutes would be pretty hot, with Adelaide coming out all guns blazing.

I'd bring in rosa

Adelaide won't have Sloan

Sinclair looked like he struggled in the heat tonight

Who would I drop ...Duggan for game minutes at East Perth

Go with Selwood again as sub ....he did ok as sub ...ran hard

Because Lucas has dished up vanilla crap every time I've seen him and I'd expect him to be worse at AFL level.
He'll always play well in the 2nds, he did the same last year in the VFL, but the AFL is whole another matter.

In: Rosa, Barrass
Out: Selwood, Duggan (rested)
I think that Schoey and Gov would appreciate a little help in defence from Barrass. Don't realistically think that Scotty will be dropped though.

Sinclair playing 20% ruck and providing little up forward is horrible

Have to agree. I feel as though Sinkers has been down for a while now, and although I love his effort, he just doesn't do enough. Wouldn't mind seeing McInnes have a go as the second ruck, as I feel he'll offer more around the ground and up forward than Cal is at the moment.

I think the Gov would equal McInness' output in the ruck. Bring Barrass in and play Gov wherever he is needed + ruck

Neither are good ruckmen, but I think McInnes offers a bit more around the ground than Sinclair.

Wouldn't be disappointed if we went unchanged though. Duggan just had the bye ffs, might be the sub next time though.

Should come down to match ups.
I'm not a selwood fan but he looked to be actively taking the first/quicker option which was a better sign.
But def not banging down the door for a full game

Simmo post-game press conference:

- Asked re emotions of the game: Some of the lads had a bit of a release after the game. Some guys are still coping.
- Lads were flat at the breaks and before the game. Every player copes in different ways.
- We kept today's preparation normal - the main focus being coping for Darwin and the night game.
- Phil was with us for five years - there's some close personal relationships with players and staff. They're still grieving.
- The post-game tribute was a great idea by Pies/Hawks, and we were happy to back it in - would have been nice if they had turned off the stadium audio - but it was pretty special in the inner sanctum.
- We'll take the grieving process one day at a time.
- Melbourne play in a way that it's hard to get space - for the most of the game we were confined to their style - I'm happy we matched it, but it was one of those games where the coach feels uncomfortable for most of the game.
- Asked re: number of shots/inaccuracy - It's a shame we didn't convert more, but also a sign of the Dee's defence to shift us into bad shot positions - inaccuracy is something we're dealing with, but, it's impossible for us to work on it more than we already do.
- Asked re Darling's return: We wanted him back in as soon as possible. He's an A-grade player.
- Jack got the job done - 5.2 and JK kicked 2.4 - both forwards did the job.
- Jack is without doubt a weapon for us. People have to plan to play against him. Hopefully all our forwards will get up and running as the season progresses.
- Asked re Selwood going to sub: It's a tough side to be in right now - you have to earn your keep - and he was a bit off last week. Hence, sub this week.
- Our mids have been rotating through the subs somewhat - his turn this week.
- Rosa was exceptional at EP today. It's tough for spots right now - but that's what we want. We need to balance development versus playing form players.
- Asked re low tackle count, especially third quarter: I think sometimes it's a critical stat, and sometimes it's irrelevant depending on the game - depending on where the ball is. It's not a KPI in itself.
- No injuries as far as I know.
- We haven't thought about next week yet - it'll be a massive event for both clubs.
- Asked if the players will have time off this week: We've not considered that yet - tonight was a big release for some of them - we'll see where we are tomorrow.
- Asked re a pre-game discussion with umpire: "Just saying g'day." I wasn't seeking clarification on anything.

Probably not this week but it would be good to see Barrass come in to give us the option of playing Mcgovern forward more often..
Barrass continues to learn his trade in the WAFL and it will be great to see him debut. We are not needing him at present but possibly do need him for the Sydney game.
Defensive KPP looking to be massive strength in 2016.

And Selwood/Rosa haven't dished up vanilla? Most of our side was vanilla before a few weeks ago, who's to say Lucas will be forever?

You didn't see him yesterday, throne did. Maybe he's got a point?

Maybe he does have a point as I didn't see the game. I'm just not keen to bring him in.

Need to bring Barrass in soonish. Can't be left short if we are contending this year. We can't put a first gamer in a final if Schofield or McGovern go down. Needs at least a few games in case he's needed come September. No idea who we take out....

I'd like to see him take a few more of the marks he goes up for, he gets in the right positions but then he has hands of stone. There's not much point even picking him out as a tall target in a pack, you know he's hardly any chance of taking the mark.
