Even from last week there is improvement in us.

Elliott and Pendlebury, 2 of our best 5 players, didn't have great games, yes Pendles got a lot of it but it wasn't a great game from his high standards.

Elliott can play much better, so much better, and if he does it makes us a better team for sure.

Then there's the likes of Fasolo and the inclusion of Seedsman, 2 best 22 players who missed so much footy last year but have what we lack, skill.

I'd be trying to get the ball to Elliott, Fasolo and Seeds as much as we can, they are our best ball users and we will need to be better by foot to win this game.
Good post

While everyone's worrying about how good Adelaide is, people forget that our best players can cause massive headaches for opposition teams! I hope our boys fire, I'm pumped!

Haven't read back through the thread and maybe this isn't the place, but the media coming out is fantastic.
The selection video with Marcus and Sarah is great and the club should be congratulated again.

Steve McKee was Fraser's Witts.

For about a year. Played an absolute blinder at AAMI in the 02 QF when we needed people to step up in the absence of an injured Buckley. Its the same game that a young Ben Johnson came of age with a ripping tackle on (from memory) Kane Cornes.....or was it Peter Burgoyne?

Witts will be a better ruckman than anybody we have had since Monkhorst. With the possible exception of Grundy!

Stunning Steve played a fair bit of footy from 01-03 - the changes to the ruck rules killed him.
Was Peter Burgoyne. Great game. Have it on DVD somewhere at home.

For me this game needs to reflect out greater season as a whole - to show good signs regardless of the result.

I want to see us competitive and aggressive as we were for 3 quarters last week.

And preferably not a 10 goal loss.

We have potentially a great ruckman of the future with Grundy, we have to make sure we don't burn him out like we did with Josh Fraser, I hope the selection team know what they are doing. Im ok with giving him the responsibility against the best ruckman, but the kid can't do it, week in week out with 80% game time, 22 weeks of the season.
We didn't burn Josh Fraser out. He was a tall flanker who got a knee injury. His tapwork was pretty good but he never had the body of a ruckman. Grundy and Fraser are very different players. Grundy is made for the ruck. Fraser was not.

I so want to win this game. Have never forgiven Walsh walking out after one year to go to Richmond for more money.
I was pretty disappointed at the time but it turned out he was just an over rated Collingwood player. He ended up at Brisbane. We did pretty well out of the Richmond trade wars.

I didn't think we got anything from that deal?

It was pre the "trade era". Marks point is that we got better value out of the Tigers we poached (Cloke and Raines alone were more than enough success) than they got out of Pies they poached.

Regardless losing a first year player (the best since Barham) hurt a lot at the time.

So why did MM say a) he wouldn't play him early, and then b) play him as our main ruckman?
Agree he should never have been our main ruckman, best suited as a forward.

Oh, okay then. Still doesn't detract from my desire to beat Adelaide especially because of him.
