That means:
We must play Edwards, Riewoldt, Thursfeld, Connors, Cotchin, Tambling, Deledio, Foley, Collins, Casserly, JON, Hughes, Schultz, Morton, Polo Jackson and probably Polak. Pattison should be persevered with for now.
We must also get game time into Rance, Putt, Gourdis and elevate Collard.
Veterans that can stay included Richo, Newman, Brown and Simmo.
Those who don't have the game to win us a cup are:
Tivendale
Pettifer
Bowden
Johnson
Hyde
Tuck.
These players need to be chopped at the end of the year either via retirement or trade or delisting.

No wonder Parkin went off his head the other night about our team selection. And he was dead set correct!!!

best to start recruiting decent drafts than spoon feeding mummies boys in the hope they may eventually play acceptable standard now and then.

Terry dropped him due to poor defensive skills. In the past 2 weeks he has laid 9 tackes. Terry would be having a word to petts saying keep it up and you will have a spot for the year, and remain on the list.

And on a side note, you should look at his facial expressions, the way he tries and tries to get the ball, may not look like it but he gives 100% that may not count for much for any of you people. But for me it does.

Richo has the biggest heart at the club he loves playing for us every week.

Pettifer laid 6 tackles and set up a couple of goals. Had 20+ touches and took a few good marks. Far from being dropped.

I'm frustrated with Pettifer because as you point out... he was OK to good I guess.
The fact is though he still badly squibbed a number of key contests, 2 of which directly resulted in Swans goals.
I hate it when he is anywhere but up forward, leading up quickly. He does that pretty well and led the team in score assists last year if I recall correctly.

a lot of players had a poor game against sydney but before we chop them lets give them another chnace to redeem themselves against the crows.

I still thinks we can win this game, birdman will probably be rubbed out whcih will be good for us.

in 06 we got smashed by the swan by 115 points and then came out to the MCG and beat Adelaide by 3 point when they were premiership favourites.

Goodes was just too big and strong and fast for Hyde. He pushed him away at times like he was a toy doll.

Hyde has plateaued as a player. He will never get any better.

I agree, we tend to become too defensive in the centre square and only have one or two players whose first objective is the ball. I could not believe we tagged Kirk with Tuck! OMG, Kirk is a tagger himself! Is that how defensive we are getting, that we are now tagging the taggers? No wonder we were smashed in the centre clearances. Everybody has their eyes on their man and not the ball. You will never win games with that attitude.

That is true, but eventually getting game time into these guys will pay dividends. Look at Hawthorn, a few years ago they were getting belted but they still played the kids. This had two beneficial effects. Playing the kids meant that they improved as they gained experience playing together as a group and bonded. Getting smashed meant they stayed down the bottom and allowed them to pick up more quality youngsters. Now they are looking at the fruits of their courage. We took another approach. We picked up some experience (Simmonds, Graham, Kingsley, P. Bowden, McMahon) which on the whole has allowed us to beat poor sides but get thumped by the top teams. At most times this has allowed us to hover off the bottom, except for last year, and not pick up high picks and priority picks.
Guys like Casserly have been at the club for a while and never given a chance. He is a beautiful kick and can run. Give him a go!
What I am saying is show some faith in the recruits. They probably have more upside to their game than the Pettifers, Hydes and Tucks in the team. We may lose a few more, but most supporters would rather see us getting beaten by 80 points with kids in the team, than getting beaten by 80 points with the tried and failed veterans.

Bit harsh on Pettifer (21 possies 6 marks and 6 tackles leading tackler for the side) and Bowden (22 possies 7 marks 2 tackles 1 goal) in a side that was getting thumped, hardly suggests they were being lazy.

what it does suggest is that when these two get the stats you and others hang onto, it is as irrelevant as it has been forever.
Like i have stated forever and will keep on doing it. The opposition knows who needs to be allowed to get it, when it comes to the tigers and who they really need to keep quiet. There are quite a few players I'd love to promote too because they look like they might just cut it but only when their form at a lower level demands it.
