We don't need to play 3 key backs against Brisbane - Grimes out.

Need to work out who goes to Clark - I think it's McGuane. He stays.

Grimes was playing the Batchelor role for the majority this week, and giving Rance and Macca the chop out. I don't like it - you pick two blokes for the job - they do it. Batch plays that third tall role with a lot more class and poise than Grimes does it with.

Thought Nason had little impact on the game, but he's not used to playing that deep forward. He'll get better - but play him as the sub - Tucky to start.

Jackson will be rubbed out, Tuck starts in his place, and Webberley in.

IN: Batchelor - Webberley
OUT: Grimes - Jackson (susp)

unbelievable post. grimes was easily our most effective tall defender.
mcguane was deplorable and in all honesty we should not be accepting such rubbish performances. rance was not much better.

brisbane will play both clarke and cornelius forward. they will play the two big ruckmen in mccauley and leunenberger and leuenberger will spend plenty of time forward. kicked 4 points against stkilda hes likely to kick 4 goals against us.
good sides dont stuff around with their structures just because a side may be a bit shorter or a bit taller whatever the case.they make it a strength.

if sides learn from what happened against north they will be likely to bring in an extra tall and just bomb long.the way mcguane and rance were towelled up in the air against north it is likely.
thank god j brown is not playing. we would have diabolical problems, brown clark and cornelius. instead its clark cornelius and leuenberger spending significant time forward.

as for the rest of their structure they have a monster and deceptively quick fb in merrett who id give an arm to have at richmond and a promising chb in collier patful is the other tall defender.

and of course they go with two ruckmen in mccauley and leuenberger.

i could make 4 or 5 changes again this week despite the win. i wonder how many changes people would be calling for if we had lost and we went close to losing again.

I thought Webberley was only ever emergency for this game.

Batchelor was a late withdrawal because of a foot injury I think.

No way Grimes should or will be dropped,I thought he was fantastic last night,so many spoils.

If Jacko is suspended I`d bring in Webberley.

See, I don't agree. I get jittery when he has the ball, and he keeps leaving the ground to spoil when he doesn't have to, and his opponent gathers the crumbs. I think he was only okay because he didn't have an opponent for the majority.

We should never have played 3 tall defenders against the Roos. They only had Petrie and Hansen, and a rotating midfielder. Grimes got outmarked by Ziebell when he went forward regardless.

On Brisbane - Cornelius started as a sub against the Saints, and I thought they looked better with a smaller, more mobile forward line. Collier isn't a CHB yet, but Merrett and Patful (they'll be the big 2) will make life hard for us. Collier still plays as a flanker.

Rance to Leunberger, McGuane to Clark, Batchelor to Cornelius. They're my matchups.

I thought McGuane was average too, but I prefer him more 1 on 1 on a gorilla than I do Grimes.

Grimes was fantastic, we'd be mad to drop him as he has stood up against some quality opposition over the last few weeks and has far from disgraced himself, unlike mcguane! Also, he is second in the AFL for 1%ers with 40 from 3 games!!!

It's not Grimes I'm knocking - it's the fact we had one tall to many - and I think we have to drop one. I'd prefer Rance and McGuane on Leunberger and Clark before Grimes.

Of the three talls we played in defense last night, he was easily the most composed when he got the ball, he has great closing speed and he was or a good part the only defender that used his brain , he also kicks better than the other two. McGuane and Rance where both towled by Petrie .. yet they continued to try to body up and not change tactics to suite the game and the umpiring. Jack Grimes has a great football brain and this kid does too, must get games into him and another 5-10 kilo's in the next 2 years.

Grimes may be the most composed but his kicking is a real liability. Can turn it over under absolutely no pressure going sideways. He's been serviceable so far but Batchelor can play his role far better and is a far better disposer of the football. Grimes is too small to take a key forward so there's not much point leaving him in the lineup against Brisbane.

I agree on Bachelor 100% , by to small you mean weight wise right ? He is taller than Mcguane and 1 cm shorter than Rance.

McGuane and Rance play the same style of Game , unless Astbury has a blinder my bet is we will take all three in again next week.

Yes, he's talking weight. He gets massacred one on one against mature bodied forwards.

I just watched the match and i cannot understand what edwards did wrong last night?? I know his form this year has been poor but he didn't miss a target from memory, starting to get that super quick handball that if you blink you'll miss it and his elusiveness back. Yes harvey got a hold of him a little in the third but his goal was a direct result of poor decisions from conca and martin.

As for Grimes. Was pretty good at spoiling but did look a little lost with the ball in his hands. He just isn't big enough yet to go with guys a couple of years older than him

Rance terrible in the first half but after half time really stepped up, took some grabs and a few spoils also was very clean with his disposal. Keep pumping games into him.

Mcguane was just horrible, but has the size Grimes doesn't.

Nahas was nahas for the first 2 and 1/2 quaters running into people, fumbling than doing something good. Last quarter and a half was the best he has played and keeps his spot because of it. Still don't see a future for him in AFL.

I'm pretty critical of White but this season he has kept his spot on form. Last night was ordinary 6 possies is nothing and he wasnt really playing a role on anybody like he has been. Probably should have been moved to harvey.

Vickery was getting to the right spots but didnt seem to be able to get hands on the footy. Might need a spell but who at coburg is banging down the door?

Graham was ordinary. Have been saying for weeks has no physical presence around the ground.

Nason was nowhere to be seen but he needs more than a week

So my outs are
Jackson (susp.) Mcguane Grimes
Ins
Dea, Bachelor and Astbury

Loving the energy on the Lions board, they honestly think they have a chance, in fact, most of them say they should win - comfortably. :D

Edwards was again pretty average, but should stay in because Nason was far worse. At least Edwards gets the pill. Nason hardly touched it and got ragged dolled many times.

Can't afford to have to many skinny kids in the team and Nason is the one that brought least to the table last week.

I'd like to see Browne play as well, should be at the expense of Graham but they'll probably give him another week.

OUT : Jackson (susp), Nason
IN : Webberly(sub), Batchelor

Out: Jackson (suspended), McGuane
In: Bachelor, Astbury

Tuck moves from Substitute onto bench and use Nason/Edwards as the Sub.

Tucky covers Jacko in the midfield while both Astbury and Bachelor provide more defensive class. McGuane was a liability yesterday and so often he gives away unnecessary free kicks. Needs a spell...

If the tigers aren't switched on they have a great chance. They've been very competitive in three games, really fight hard in the midfield but have struggled going forward and lack a bit of polish.

Fair enough too, they looked pretty good the other night against the aint quites. They used speed to take it right up to them so we need to counter that with more speed.

Out - Jackson
In - Webberley (sub)
