Who exactly are this great new crop of players? In the midfield they have Bontempelli, Macrae - both of them are good - followed by Picken, Wallis, Honeychurch, Jong, B Goodes, Dalhaus - are there any others? If the last six played for us they'd be torn up and spat out on here before you could say jack robinson. Honeychurch would be lucky to kick over a jam jar. Can't see the WB spiralling up towards the top of the ladder in a big hurry which is what makes last night's loss the more painful.
Out: Griffin, Cooney, Higgins, Giansirucusa, L. Jones.
In: Bontempelli, Honeychurch, Jong, Boyd, Johanissen.

Macrae Stringer Redpath Wallis, all young players too.

I never said they will SPIRAL towards the top of the ladder, just that they have given their youth a chance to embrace a new game plan and have a crack, our youth spends their time languishing in the WAFL whilst the senior team spuds it up.

The Eagles team on Saturday night was younger than the Doggies team.

I agree that we should be playing a lot of youth this season though. Duggan, Waterman and Newman especially should be getting games soon.

I was happy with how we defended against the dogs, obviously if schofield is ready to go you would play him, But i mean who else is there mcinnes ?
I dunno, we're running out of players pretty quick, it Schofield is fit then I'd play him.
To be honest I'd just prefer Yeo wasn't minding one of their talls because I've got him in my draft league fantasy team :)

Is this anywhere official or just from Simmo's presser

I did a quick add of games played and we averaged about 12 games more than the bulldogs 85-73

You are right we are more experienced, but we are also younger. Full stats on all the weekend's games are on footywire.

Even if it is true, it's not true for our midfield which is where we were soundly beaten, we are a couple of years older on average there.

If you want WAFL form rewarded, you're forgetting Lucas, Newman and Waterman as well. The majority of our players will usually perform well in the WAFL, except for a select few.
I think Waterman, Sheed, Priddis, Colledge are all competing for the same spot, I have Colledge as the guy I want in there atm.

Newman is competing with Cripps and LeCras at this point I think, he's not a lock down defensive forward like McGinnity, so he will have to wait atm.

Lucas's disposal skill is not as good as Hill, Duggan, LeCras, Bennell and he is not capable of dual position play, so he has to wait also.

Dalhaus and Jong in particular absolutely carved us up around the stoppages and served us up on a platter surrounded by roast veggies in the 2nd half. Stringer monstered us all night and Bont flashed in and out but will be a star. If we have clean ball from Naitanui and/or Priddis motors through 4 quarters (he stopped dead at half-time imo, which really limited the amount of ball we won), we're a chance to match speed and pure clearance power. We fall apart when this isn't the case; players like Dahlaus, Bont and (we shall see) Jong are our list deficiencies. We have the troops and linkers that could work with and around them. An up and about Wellingham would help enormously.

If the doggies play like that most weeks, they'll give the top 8 a real shake. Just watch Boyd and the other talls around him grow as the season progresses.

Really concerned about Henderson. I still think McGovern will get exposed one on one against big bodied opponents; let's be honest, if there was any side we were going to do okay against with a makeshift defence it was the Dogs. Schofield isn't a KPD, I remain unconvinced that McGovern is too.
Is Henderson that big? I thought he was more McGovern's size anyway?

I went to training.

Very low key.

- Missing: Mcgovern, Schoey, Nic Nat, shep, lamb, darling, scooter.

- Ellis in full training looked ready to go.

- Newman walking laps with maggie.

- rosa, main and sinclair doing some work with Hurn.

- waterman was in full training so sign of an injury.

- barrass and mcinnes were doing some contested marking with nico. Barrass is a good size and looked good.

Couldn't disagree more with that statement mate. Cripps is quite versatile and can easily play through the middle and off half forward. Newman also has this capability, where as McGinnity is terrible at everything except running around. Newman should come in straight away and McGinnity should be in the WAFL all year.

Schofield was going to train but as he got out the car a meteor fell on him... such is our luck
