Havent herd that for a while..No, you get what you deserve.![]()
I think people look at it the wrong way. Not enough coaches look at the sub from the point of using it as a weapon. If you look to use it as just another body to put on during the game, it's got absolutely zero advantages. Tactically, there are plenty of ways a coach can use it to their advantage. Where the sub gets wasted is when coaches give a young player a 1/4 of footy just to get them acclimatised to the AFL game.
It's a fine balance, but if used correctly it adds something to our great game.
The problem i have with it is that it cant be used properly cos of injuries that occur too often. For it to work in that way we prob need 2 subs.
One that is as per the current rule and also an additional nominated emergency sub (most teams have one emergency anyway). If an onjury occurs, then this sub can be used to replace the injured payer. IF this occurs, then the injured player cannot be named to play on the field the following week (but maybe can be named as the sub). Or in cases of concussion then they may be named to play the following week.
This way the actual sub can be used as a sling shot weapon. of course some guys would become professional subs like this and just play each week one qtr.
Is concussion less serious than a slightly rolled ankle or a minor thigh strain? Let's design a rule that makes a player suffer more consequences for getting himself injured. Let him get injured in the game but recover in time before the next game but still be disadvantaged again by such a rule just to make things interesting or bizarre. Honestly, rules are supposed to improve the game, improve the spectacle, improve player well-being, improve player careers, etc ... not destroy it. In modern sports, with lots on the line, sub rules are backward thinking. Interchange is forward thinking.
Was well intentioned. Not only did it make the loss of a player through injury less of a disadvantage but it also, in theory, has reduced coaches ability to flood as fatigue management is more important.i mean it. Those that even remotely considering bringing in the sub rule is an abolute ******* moron. I thought it was just a preseason fairy floss gimmick thing only. COuldnt and still dont beleive it has stuck
I hope we have a strategy to overcome the second man up tactic or Lobbe will again be a liability. He's neither athletic enough nor does he have a football brain adequate to overcome the challenge. Who is our ruck coach out of interest?I hope we win. Im not sure what the reaction will be if we lose with everyones favourite 22

Once again we are playing 1 less tall than we should be.
They arent the height match ups I'm worried about.Midfield: Moore is 189 (vs Cripps 190)
Forward: Ah Chee is 188 (vs Walker 190)
Man for man we're tall where we need to be, give or take a cm here or there.
They arent the height match ups I'm worried about.
What's a Lobbe?Wood and Kreuzer may as well be hills hoists. We'll cut them to ribbons from halftime onward.
Great changes! Arch better play a full game and Mitchell the sub.
It would make sense for Krak/Arch to go green/red as they're probably bottom two for fitness in the 22.

Once more we turn to Kane Mitchell to save us. I am not convinced that Mitchell is an AFL footballer but at least he has the form in the SANFL.
