The selections are correct, on paper Carlton look tough to beat !!! We are away and they are hungry for a win as seen in their last game. This won't be easy and we will need to show respect through the midfield. Their run was good last game, they are fresh off the bye and on their home paddock. I agree with REH we look one tall short making it easy to match up on Schultz, hopefully the Hoff can kick a bag in the opening quarter again. I am hoping the coaching staff have addressed the two up against Lobbe thing that exposed us so badly last week.
I have NO IDEA if we will win this or not, not confidant at all, dangerous game where the repercussions might cut very very deep

I would not call these changes great and suspect some of us are ecstatic because the changes reflect our wishes. The fact is this side is still at least three first choice players short, there are at least four players well down on their 2014 form and we never know what we will get from our midfield all of who are in hot or cold form right now.

A saving grace in these changes is that all the players promoted deserve a shot based on SANFL form. Regardless of injury to White and Stewart, Moore deserved another crack at it and Krak, despite fitness concerns, is AFL standard. I am disappointed that Tom Clurey was dropped as he is definitely an investment in the future but as has been posted, his time will come.

We should expect to account for Carlton but on the basis of our season so far anything could happen. I expected to beat Brisbane and we probably had a stronger side that day.

I hope we have a strategy to overcome the second man up tactic or Lobbe will again be a liability. He's neither athletic enough nor does he have a football brain adequate to overcome the challenge. Who is our ruck coach out of interest?

I really like that we made 5 changes. Normally I would be against that many in the one week, however we needed to switch things up. Mentally this freshens up the team, brings 5 guys in who are desperate to be there. However bad form Jacko was in before he went down, we all know what our win rate is like when he is in the team.

I really just want to see Arch have a full game, the kid is something special. I have a feeling Moorey will be the sub and Mitchell will get a full game replacing White. I think Krak will get a full game as well, or at least avoid the green vest, as he will slot into Pittard's spot and Jasper will move up to the wing. Jasper on a wing is a very exciting prospect and I much prefer him to turnover the ball there than in our back 50! He could potentially be very damaging breaking the lines and delivering into our 50. We should let him run and play his own game, don't give him a man to worry about.

We wanted changes and we got changes. To me 5 is pretty desperate stuff or we have given up the season and want to see just who can cut the mustard for next year. Could be a bit each way. Whatever the reason the in players need to play like there life depends on it.

Ah Chee and Moore rotating off the HFF into the midfield. Krakouer and Pittard rotating off the HBF into the wing. Colquhoun and Broadbent doing the same on the other side. Trengove to anchor the defence, Mitchell to come on as sub.

Done and done. Watch the run and spread happen when players know they can get more time to recover by resting a little bit in a different position. We just need speed of ball movement, not player speed.

Also pittard to the wings...could be the move of checkmate...

Get him out of the backlines where his weaknesses are exposed and move him to the wings where his strengths are enhanced....it seems such a no brainer move, it makes me wonder why it hasnt been done before.

RussellEbertHandball mate just a quick one - Cripps is 193/4. In his draft year he was listed as 192 and has grown slightly. There was an entire carlton thread about it about a year ago. Really big lad.

He actually grew over 20cm between 16 and being drafted, went from a crumbing forward pocket to a beast mode clearance mid. Great story, I wanted him with the impey/polec pick if we hadn't traded it.

Rubbish - every in this week is entirely just

We will never ever give up

Something had to give

With a bye next week surprised Jacko is in. Still if he's fit he's fit but ummmm seems a bit desperate

If he's fit he plays. We ARE desperate. Lose this one and its season over. Every selection night up until now has reeked of the coaches expecting to get to the bye with a positive win/loss count and then making our assault from there (except for the stupid policy of picking an injured Polec in the first few rounds). This is our last chance.

Maybe a bit more desperation previously and the season wouldn't be in such a perilous position.

Selection seems fine, but as had been argued extensively, selection issues aren't Port's main problem.

A comfortable win should be expected, but it's paper over the cracks unless a new tactical approach is implemented.

It's not as desperate as it seems. Stewart and White had to go through injury and Clurey goes as Trengove is returning through injury.

Lol we all know why he is saying its desperate. Why else would they choose a spud like Moore over the legendary Sam Gray?

5 changes isn't at all excessive. They're warranted. Nothing worse than seeing shit performances backed up with very minor tinkering around the edges and "we're backing the boys in to fix it" comments. A team reboot is required.

Yep, a change in philosophy to acknowledge the problems we've got is exactly what is required.

Setting the tone with a few extra big bodied inside players is important, and carrying that bravery through to the way we play and move the ball is important as well. We need to run the ball in packs.

hopefully the changes won't unsettle any resemblance of consistency that we had in our team.

a 22.7% turnover of a team in one week is rather material.

in any case, Kenny is sending a message to the playing group.
