Don't worry about resting Rocca, he should be dropped for his sh*thouse performances.

Has he taken a contested mark or overhead mark on a lead in the last five weeks?

Sure, Essendon are on the bottom of the ladder but I don't think we should be talking about resting key players.

Most of you guys are forgetting something - IT'S ESSENDON!

No matter where both teams are on the ladder, the game can always go either way. Also, the great man Hird is back and is every chance to tear us a new one like he has done so many times in the past.

We should be picking the best available team.

Correct GeneralDisarray, our record against the Bombers isn't too flash. We need our best side on the park this Friday against the bummers.

Ryan Lonie cost us the game against the Crows, when he was calling for another handball receive running onto his right foot! then got into trouble and then went back onto his left and his kick got smothered. That and we allowed Mattner to do as he pleased in the final quarter, who the f**k was on him!

Also, when Tarrant had that shot from outside 55m, was Fraser or Rocca on the goal line trying to shepherd the ball through for a goal?

Out Maxwell
In Pendlebury

Seems logical to me

Cloke is a week or two away from a return methinks. He can provide a contest.

Absolutely correct. Essendon will come to play, like they always do against Collingwood.

You cant isolate individual examples. Lonie had an excellent game against Burton. He made a mistake when it counted but realistically Fraser should not have handballed to a teammate standing still.

If anything, Buckley's missed shot from 20 out when he had two teammates to handball to in the goalsquare was worse. That and trying to run too far in the last quarter instead of kicking long. But it was one of those types of games.

One Chris Egan cost us the game when he shat himself late in the 4th quater.

Ah using the racism card again.

I use it because you are, either that or you are completely and utterly dumb.

Do you have a brain or not?

My tertiary education would seem so.

Funny how you pick out 3 KPP when it was a game where none of them had a chance to get a kick.

Bull****, Fraser played good for a half, Rocca was non-existant and Tarrant again did **** all. In time on of the last quarter our forward 50 consisted of Holland, Lockyer and Egan alternating - you would not have seen this on television...I, however, being situated at that end of the ground could see this. If our tall forwards had any sort of presence, they would have been situated there, it was an absolute perfect night for football (20 degrees and sunny during the day = no dew on the ground either) and we got no goals from our "guns".

Did anyone see Egan squib near the end of the game when Buckley passed to him.

No, but did you see Lica squib it as well in the last quarter, did you see Buckley **** it up half a dozen times during the game, did you see Fraser **** it up in the 2nd quarter, did you see Travis Cloke's brain almost explode as he couldn't comprehend how to kick a banana kick from 2 metres out in the third quarter?

DID YOU SEE TARRANT NOT HANDBALL TO LONIE WHEN HE TRIED TO WIN THE GAME WITH LONIE UNMARKED AND WOULD HAVE KICKED FROM INSIDE 50???

Why point out one little instance of which I didn't even notice, yet I noticed all these other instances where if one had of been done correctly, we would have won?

Pathetic and it probably cost us the game.

You are the pathetic one, I don't expect a response from you because you wouldn't be able to give an unbiased view.

We ****ed it up on Saturday night after an absolutely fantastic effort, I was shattered because we didn't deserve to lose. We lost, but it wasn't ****ing Egan's fault.

In conclusion, you are either a racist for continually picking on a 19 year old player that has shown plenty of talent in his 15 or so games at the highest level of Australian Football in the world, or you are completely and utterly ****ed.

Fin.

Bad news...............

Collingwood youngster, Dale Thomas, has undergone surgery to repair a broken collarbone sustained following a heavy fall in Saturday night’s loss to Adelaide.

Thomas, who sustained concussion in the incident, was third-man up in a rucking contest midway through the final term. Adelaide midfielder, Nathan Van Berlo, came from under the pack to knock Thomas off balance, who came crashing to the ground heavily on his shoulder.

Club medical staff called for the game to be stopped while Thomas was stretchered from the ground, with tests later revealing that the rising Collingwood star had broken his clavicle in the fall.

According to Collingwood Football Operations manager, Neil Balme, Thomas is likely to make a full recovery, and has not ruled out the youngster’s chances of returning this season.

“Dale has gone into surgery today.

“We are confident that it is not a season ending injury, and will monitor his progress very closely.”

Off the topic a bit here, but did anyone else see Richard Coles performance on Saturday Night? Not only did he have 1 possession for the match, but also may have broken his checkbone shirtfronting his own team mate in Scott Camporeale.

Hopefully he is right to play this Friday Night, hopefully he picks up Dids. Fred Fannings record could well go!

All Collingwood supprters should give it to him all night!

Don't be fooled people.....If theres one game Essendon will want to win in 2006 it's Collingwood on Friday night.....This is a danger game!!!!!!! Players like Hird and Lucas & Co will lift as they always do against Collingwood.......Hopefully and surely the players will know this....You've been warned. :(

The players are fully aware its a danger game. They are also fully aware that we need four points, and equally importantly we need percentage.

Collingwood by 70. The boys are pretty dirty at the moment after the events of last week. Essendon are crap and we'll be motivated to kick them while they are down, just like we did to Carlton a few years back.

the point on percentage is a very good one. in the next few weeks we not only have to win, we have to grind sides into the ground.

with the eight as tight as it is where percentage could be all that decides a double chance or not the Pies can't afford second halves like that against the Hawks a couple of weeks ago.

you obviously didnt he went off at quarter time. I hope Collingwood take us as lightly as some of you guys are. We probably have close to the best team we've had available all year.

Yeah we definitly need to have our best team out on the park on friday as we are playing essendon and they would love to take us down a peg! I think screwing around with the team too much before finals could just as well backfire. First we need to get our structure and gameplan working, get some consistency going and our confidence up and that means having our best team on the park for the remaining matches. I believe we should rest buckley for the Port game if any, just play him in the forward line this week and limit his time on the field if he is sore and carrying something. Rocca must stay, he needs to get some form back into him and resting him or dropping him wont do it, and we need him to get our forward structure working again and firing. I suspect that there will probs only be 1 or 2 changes, that being Thomas but not quite sure who else.

So lets hope come this friday we have our best team on the field and we grind essendon into the ground as we badly need the percentage. this is a danger game and lets hope the players arent going to be complacent coming into the match.

Don't think the AFL will let him play on crutches, plus it slows him down a fair bit

Imagine if we were playing the Eagles this week.
Daniel Kerr wouldn't know which crutch to hit.:p

I think this is a match where we should experiment a bit. Nothing too drastic. But things like putting Buckley in the backline, Shaw in the midfield, Didak in the midfield. Nothing we haven't done this year but it will give us options in the finals.

In the finals some of the most unusual and unexpected moves often win the game. C.Cornes moved back when he was a key forward only in the finals. Ben Johnson a maligned half back flanker moved onto Akermanis in the midfield and curtailed him while having an impact himself in the 2003 QF. Even putting Matty Lokan forward to tag the dangerous defenders like Wanganeen.

B: Johnson - Prestigiacomo - Clement
HB: H. Shaw - J. Cloke - Lonie
C: Iles - O'Bree - Holland
HF: Lockyer - T. Cloke - Buckley
F: Didak - Rocca - Tarrant
FL: Fraser - Swan - Licuria
INT: Burns - Egan - Pendlebury - C. Cloke

Out: Maxwell and Thomas

So and So cost us the game. Buckly didnt handball and missed a shot, Fraser and Pebles didnt sheaperd through Tazs goal kick, Fraser didnt handball in the goal square let me tell you something, players do not cost teams games. Teams of players cost you games. It kills me when your 5 points down with 5 seconds to go and a player does something wrong or someone misses a shot on goal and then there forever known as costing the team the game. The bloody team shouldnt be 5 points behind with 5 seconds to go if everyone in the team is working together you should be 5 or 6 goals up every time with 5 seconds to go.
