Hutch was serviceable in the WAFL, eventually working his way into the game but by no means was he better than Cole or Barrass for East Perth.
Neither of whom played midfield.

With ellis out I would like to see them give cole an opportunity if they could find another way to get jetta in

Not this week. I liked what I have seen so far but the Hawks at the MCG!!!! Wait a little longer. I like the suggestion but think he would benefit from a sustained run in the WAFL (which is already a big step up for him) and look at round 8 v St Kilda at home as a possible first game.

Loved what I've seen of cole in his two EP games so far but as it stands the incumbents in the 22 are better and deserve their place ahead of him

That said if neither masten or Jetta are considered fit enough to play against the Hawks then I'd be putting Cole in before Hutchings

I completely understand what you mean but he has shone in an average east perth side. Why blood kids against average sides? In their prime when did hawthorn and geelong blood kids? (Langford, Horlin-Smith, Duncan, Hartung)

Langford didn't get a gig until 3-4 years in. The other 3 were often the sub, which probably counts against Cole.

Seems strange that you'd choose an untried kid over a guy who has performed well against the Hawks and was one of the only guys that actually did anything for us in the GF.

Cole has been better at WAFL level in the two games I've seen imo but Hutchings does have a decided edge in experience so your point is fair and more likely to be how the match committee sees it

Cole's been good but he hasn't set wafl alight. Last week he had great first half and then disappeared in the second. For a first year player Cole's defensive form should be as good as his offensive form for him to get selected. Thats why i thought nelson was really good last season. Nelson didnt rack up the ball too much when he played but defensively he was really good and he tackled hard and was really tough in defence. Im impressed by cole's tackling but if he can shut his opponent out of the game each week while gathering the footy 18-25 times a week, then i would be happy for him to be selected.

I think Cole has shown some promise too in the small amount of seen of him, i just think that having the experience and the ability to play multiple roles may stand Hutch in better stead at this stage.

Hutch or Garry Ablett Jnr, who would you pick?

So much this. People want Duggan and Nelson to become guns without being exposed to big games. Good clubs back in the youngsters and they genuinely reap the rewards for doing so. Luckily we have a coach that from what I can see isn't scared to play the kids.
DUggan will be star remember he was on fire last year before gettign injured. He will be good and the same for Nelson. We have to blood these young guys.
