Hurn to VC is a good call i think. JK should be our captain.

Hurn played well minus the lack of a sheppard at the end, but captains need to have charisma, charm, an outgoing personality. They need their teammates to absolutely love them. If they don't have this, they need to be the best player in the squad. JK ticks both boxes.

Was at the game yesterday , all 3 were trying thier rings off... I watched Nelson continualy run to space and present himself , to be ignored...I watched Cole try and take the game on and I watched Duggo display hunger and effort....They made errors , but , with time all 3 will be better.... what was soul destroying was watching Treloar, Adams and Grundy run it out of every contest ....Zero pressure in there when it counted ...Hutchings did ok on sidebottom , Gaff taken right out of it by Greenwood... no answers in the guts

have to agree, these three youngsters display a lot of hunger, found Nelson's ability to get up off the ground quickly and lay a tackle inspiring

Oops I think I changed my mind after posting. I agree I would be apprehensive to drop Hutch and would send him to Zorko if he plays. So add him in the team with either McInnes or Barrass/Schofield making way.
Hutch has had such a weird career. So often have we penciled him as our 22nd, but he finds a way to bob up and perform a solid, consistent role for us.

He's like super Ginners.

I doubt the playing group will strip Hurn of his captaincy with 4 rounds to go. Pretty ludicrous in fact. imo Gov will be the next captain, but not for 2 years.

Yeah agreed.. if the game yesterday is a good game from Darling then our standards are very low for him and the rest of his career.

He's had a good few weeks (compared to how he was playing) but it's still nowhere near what he's capable of and that's really frustrating.

i think his main problem is that at 191cm he is undersized as a kp he shouldnt be number 2 in the forward line. he should slim down over summer and play as a high half forward where at times he can act as a third tall up forward and as a marking target further up the ground

Do we want to make a point, and send a message?
Properly this time.
Out
Priddis (rested)
Lecca, Schoey, Vardy

In
Smitch (obvious)
Parto - about time
Watson - need his run and is skillful. Also 7 tackles is nice to see.
Giles - If we want to try compete against Martin.
Lamb - If we can share ruck duties between Petrie, Gov and Darling.

Wellingham 0x tackles. So no.
Masto 27 possies...So? Coniglio had 36 in the 2nds in his first game since injury.

Would like to bring Karpanny back in but he needs more than 9 disposal and a goal in WAFL to justify it.

Out: Priddis (soreness, possibly in the arse from the kicking he should be receiving), Shuey (knee or something), LeCras, Schofield
In: PARTINGTON, Mitchell, Karpany, Lamb

Vardy only survives because he's the closest thing we've got to a fit number 1 ruck that isn't Giles. He's been rubbish since the bye apart from one quarter against the Bulldogs. He might be cooked for the year.

Sheesh, both harsh and incorrect IMO.

Since the bye he's had
  • 15 touches, 7 tackles, 31 hitouts, 125 ranking points vs Geelong where i suspect most of us had him in our votes :heavycheck:
  • 13 Touches, 6 tackles, 33 hitouts, 90 ranking points vs Melbourne :heavycheck:
  • 12 Touches, 3 marks (including 2 very telling contested marks to ice the game), + the winning goal and 94 ranking points vs WBD.. again i guarantee most people had him in their votes if not BOG :goat:
I wouldn't call those performances rubbish by any standards.

Definitely dropped off since the Port game though. 7 Touches, 4 touches and 4 touches definitely isn't a great return for the last 3 weeks

I mean end of year review, def not now. Tha woukd be silly. Let him focus on marshalling the defense w no added responsibility of the C.

Also Partington must be played. I don't care about the lack of two way running that Simpson has spoken about. WAFL form for young players need to be rewarded unless the senior team is flying.

Leave Masten in the two's again.

Thanks mate, first one on here to agree. Probably giving darling a harder time than others because he has the raw ingredients to be anything. It's his hands that let him down and he has an unfortunate tendency to shit the bed at big times , why is he never in the discussion about the captains role? Hears footsteps or something like the last quarter yesterday when he should have clunked it like Leo barry then been yelling directions to the kids. Spilled the mark, we lost . Dicks on here reckon I Have NFI? Darling needs a kick in the arse , might be the best thing for him to actually get near his huge potential . 9 marks yesterday, that is ok I guess, but for his talent it could be more

Fair enough, didn't realise we were that far removed from the bye to be honest. Apart from his final quarter heroics I thought he was average against the Dogs and he hasn't done much since then.

Gov to play backup ruck/fwd. Not surprisingly our best tackling effort for two years cane when he played that role against the Cats, adds some much needed grunt around the ground. Go smaller down back, an extra mid in for run.

What I'm expecting to see however is a mix of young guys out and Hill, Masto and Wellingham in.

Mate he got pantsed against Melbourne, no two ways around it.

JK is not an outgoing personality and in real life he's certainly not a real charismatic type.

the only problem is that his WAFL form is no two way running - it kills at the AFL level.
