Freedom from injuries and confidence has a lot to do with it. Zorks discovered acapuncture and got his old body back. Bailey is well over his foot issue which restricted him last year. Answerth is the most injury free he's ever been in his career and playing with confidence. Instead of being worried about not playing his role and making a mistake the chain is off Ah Chee and he plays with supreme confidence. Washcroft is the best he's been since the ACL. Then as you say we have Fletcher and Levi really making an impact despite their relative inexperience. Plus Hipwood getting his confidence back post the OP.

List/injury wise we're much better off this year than last year at the same stage. Fingers crossed.

No massive shoulder strap on Berry either. Touch wood.

Our floor in terms of poor performance has lifted a bit this season. We seem to fluctuate in-game but don't normally drop the bundle altogether. It could be due to higher quality in our bottom 4-5 like LAshcroft, as well as players who have gone up a level this season like Fletcher.

More importantly if we turn up really poor, you need a high quality opposition like Collingwood who have stars across all lines to take advantage of it. I don't think North are at that level. So even if we splutter in-game, we should put enough on the board to get home on this one.
Yeah I'll be very surprised (happily so!) if we play with the same intensity as we showed on Sunday night. Playing at that level is probably not sustainable week in week out, so maybe we are due for a bit of a comedown. Hopefully the level we do play at is still good enough to get the chocolates.

Obviously North are struggling in terms of their ladder position but they have run a few teams quite close this year, as demonstrated by their % of 76.4 compared to 63.5 last year (and 57.9 at Round 8).

Certainly will be no walkover and we'd be foolish to assume it will be.

I watched them in person against Sydney. I guess it was their worst game but good god they were pathetic. Curtis suspension hurts them badly too.

We might have just a small win because we play with our food, but that's the only concern I have.

I know about zorkos stuff because every three weeks I get needling, some with saline, lignocaine or prp. I've been doing this since 2007 (my body is a piece of crap).

Needling is acupunture on steroids. The injection needle goes in, it's jiggled around, the muscles twitch like crazy, then you move to the next spot and repeat and repeat. So much worse than acupunture and the bruises can last for weeks.

The guy zorko sees has developed his own sequence/ intensity/frequency that appears to be very effective. I think it's like every inch along the muscle. The guy works with a lot of elite athletes, including other afl players. I'm saving up the money and the bravery to try him.

Zorkos initial treatment was every day for a month (from a zorko interview). You get big bruises that last for weeks. He said he was one big bruise from the waist down and in a lot of pain the entire time. I hope for his sake he maintains now and doesn't have to go that hard again.

The way saline, dry needling, lignocaine injections work was explained to me as they stimulate the muscle nerve (the twitching) which causes rebuild/repair to the nerve and improves messaging to the muscle. So it gets better at signalling the muscles to change state - stretch/contract cycle is improved + better blood flow = better performance.

PRP is where they draw blood, spin it down, pull off the plasma which contains platelets. They then inject that plasma into joints. This breaks down fiberous tendons and ligaments and strengthens the joint.

This is all WADA approved and a standard treatment for athletes. And many would need to continue after retirement because they are so banged up.

My son has recently had needling treatment(due to severe back pain) and said from the first session it had a positive affect.

North have been struggling for years now but only got beaten by just the 3 & 9 points in the last two games.
Lions have won 7 of the last 8 encounters since 2018.

The last win for North was in 2018 with a 3-point margin at the Gabba 104-107
That day Zorko had 35 disposals and McCluggage kicked 3 goals

We played twice at Ninja Stadium for 2 wins during that time.
Both times were reasonably close and low scoring 68-45 and 53-52.
Not sure what the weather in Hobart was at the time.

I believe that North have only won 9 of their last 80 games, which is the worst performance of any team for about 60 years. We have to put them away this Sunday!

That 53-52 game was actually at Carrara during COVID. I was at the 68-45 game and it was a typically dreary Tassie winter's evening. Hoping for better on Sunday... No rain at the very least.

footywire had it as Ninja Stadium so that's where i got the info.

Time was in fact during covid being R12 on 15/8/2020

Fagan obviously read my e-mail. He’s coaching beautifully. This week, I have instructed him to go with Lohmann, W. Ashcroft, L. Ashcroft and Fort on the bench, with McKenna as sub. I did give him the option of starting with McKenna though, and using Fort as a sub. I was keen that he give Fort some game time this week, because he will be starting against Melbourne the following week.

How embarrassing for us if they jag a win.

They won't, but someone did tempt fate by saying this could be our percentage booster. So, ...

They're currently not playing like a team that's won 9/80 so win 10 isn't far away.

This is a game where I'll be happy to walk away from with the 4 points even though we should smash them on paper.
