I think we're going to lose the ruck battle regardless of whether Brown or Giles is playing.

Neither of those two will do much to curb Goldsteins influence on the game, which is why it's probably worth just conceding that point and focusing on exploiting somewhere else. Back Slyce to put up a fight.

I like Giles but Brown obviously offers more outside of the ruck, with his ability to fumble any ground ball, send sherrins to space, poke himself in the eye, and possibly free up McGovern.
LOL.But he does it at 110%

Didn't do a lot! Is your opinion based on stats or were you at the game? I was at the game and after a quiet 1st quarter, he was busy and very effective. One of the few players that showed any physicality which is an ingredient we are really lacking in.
I agree Asterix;Hes got a bit of mongrel which as ive said previously is sadly lacking in this team.
It'll be Redden and Duggan I imagine.

Spud on an out of form Lecras? Atley on an out of form Hill? Mckenzie on Cripps?

Norf board...

I think we need to realise that we cant and wont win a premiership this year!DO NOT DELUDE YOURSELVES!! this year need to be about sorting out the team.Trying Nelson in the guts,Developing Lycett as a serious ruckman,Stopping our Priddis dependence in the middle,Getting Reddan up to speed, seeing if Jetta has still got it,sorting out the forward line and reducing our dependence on kennedy, working out how to use Barass and Mckenzie in the same team, what then to do with Mcgovern, realising Gaff,Priddis and Hutching cant all play in the middle. We have a bit to do yet people.

Strange season still think we are a sneaky chance if we can find some form. All top 8 teams have been in good form at some stage this season, We haven't even got out of 2nd gear, If we can find form towards the end of the year anything could happen....

Beat North and the flame keeps flickering a little longer. Lose and I think we are doneski.

The chances are slim of making the GF but we are 1 win outside top 4. The club isn't just going to give up. That's what you do when you are bottom 4.

It is obvious Simpson is still developing the team, he said as much in an after-match presser a couple of weeks back. He is still trying players in different positions and searching for the right combinations. Compare that to other top 8 teams who all seem to have much more settled and "ready to go" lineups. It's not surprising really. I think last year we were well and truly ahead of schedule to make the big dance, which inflated expectations for this year. We were ahead of the curve with our game-plan in a predominately defensive competition and even the club would have been surprised how far we got. This year things have changed dramatically in the competition tactics-wise, and we have had a number of player changes (Redden, Jetta, McKenzie, Lycett, more of Nelson and Duggan, no Sheed etc). It was always going to be hard for things to just click.

However, the reality is we are still only 1 win from second spot, so we have to keep going for it. Even if it looks unlikely at this point, the club has to learn to fight every step of the way. This is the attitude they need to instill in the playing group... it is never over until it is a literal impossibility.

Yep agree with this.

I can not imagine Simmo going: " All right lads this year hasn't planed out as i hoped and we are 1 win from second spot and sitting at 8th...so i think its time to throw this year out and try something different" A good coach will sort the season as it goes and this will be a test for Simmo to see if he can sort the year out or if not see how we bounce back this year. End of the day if we didn't have our last 1/4 fade out v the Adelaide and had won that close game v the Bulldogs we would be close top 4 if not top 2.

We'd be 1st on % from Hawthorn going into this Roundhead we won those two games

We didn't though so we're 8th
