You're right.

Lamb would be a far better choice

Lamb should probably consider himself lucky if he isn't playing reserves for east Perth on the weekend after his effort against the Falcons

Speaking of Lamb, he looked pissed off when he was standing with the past players on friday night. Not sure he'll be with us next year if he doesn't get a game this year.
SpaceClef i also heard started following st kilda on twitter. Looks like your boys heading east.

Why not Giles for Lycett? I think he probably showed more than Lycett in preseason, just Lycett got a game because he's been there longer. Giles will give them headaches. Also Duggan might have to miss this one for Priddis, might be better games for him to get experience in. And maybe Nelson for Wellingham, if Welly's fit

Pretty sure giles didn't show more in the preseason, pretty sure he is a plodder. Sorry if this account is you giles.

He gave Sam Jacobs a run in the Adelaide game and showed some presence down forward. Good opportunity to give him a run at AFL level as well just for a game. Surely he's going to do better in the ruck than McInnes, and can take a pack grab, where we've got the other tall forwards for the leading targets

Am I the only one wanting Priddis to be left at home? You beat Sydney with fast ball movement (Hutch/Shuey/Jetta). Even with Priddis we lose the contested inside ball. (Kennedy/Mitchell > Priddis/Redden).
Last time we met...

West Coast 103 def Sydney 51

BEST
West Coast: Priddis, Yeo, Gaff, Naitanui, Sinclair, Sheppard
Sydney Swans: Kennedy, Shaw, Rampe, Jetta, Parker

Player K H D M HO FF FA T G B AF
Matt Priddis 12 22 34 4 0 1 3 13 1 0 142
Josh Kennedy 10 21 31 1 0 0 0 5 0 0 95
Tom Mitchell 1 9 10 0 0 0 0 5 0 0 41

Yep let's drop Priddis, great analysis on BF once again. FFS!

Here we go...

Pointing out that Priddis got 34 possessions and was named as our best by afl.com.au isn't exactly "great analysis" either. How did he play apart from getting a lot of the footy? Was he a consensus best on ground or has someone at afl media just looked at the stat count?

And technically he can't be dropped, he's not in the 22.

The jury is still out on the swans for me. I loved the swans/crows game but I thought the swans skills were pretty bad. Rampe, Grundy and Laidler are key parts of their defence and all have pretty bad foot skills, partly why they're running a first year in Mills off half back and already getting the ball into his hands.

Heeney is a gun and kicked 4 for them in Adelaide but he's a second year player so he won't be doing that every week.

We have a big opportunity this week, such a shame Slyce had a brain fade - I think he's been very influential the last two weeks.

Rampe is usually one of our better kicks so I'm not sure he deserves to be in that group. You could sub Richards in there though. Even Nick Smith is average by foot. If the forecast rain does arrive this could be one ugly game.

Well he also did have 13 tackles, 5 inside 50s, 7 clearances and a goal. Pretty reasonable 2 brownlow votes.

Hard to remember the game but its a pretty reasonable assumption he had a decent game.

You know who else did well statisically? Callum Sinclair. Maybe its when Sydney started sniffing around?

10 coaches votes
2 brownlow votes

But I'm sure the BigFooty voters gave him nothing, so he was probably our worst on...

Rain forecast in Sydney. Not sure Giles would be suited.

#frase4days
heavy last night (eg - 70mm at Cronulla - not Perth rain) but probably only spots of patchy light rain over the weekend. Rain is always forecast in Sydney. It has been said it is always raining somewhere in Sydney (Wollongong to Newcastle is 250km +) but footy is rare in the rain.

Summary - Play Giles to bash into Tippet.

Seriously? If you read the post I replied to you'll notice all it had to do was negate the other poster's assumption that we don't bother with Priddis because Kennedy and Mitchell would win more of the inside ball anyway. Hence the attachment of the stats that I didn't think I needed to explain. I'd be very surprised if anyone who got 34 disposals and 13 tackles wasn't BOG or at least top 3 in any AFL game in the last decade. But please show me o' wise one why my analysis isn't any better than just stating something without anything at all to back it up.

edit - for the record I do think Sydney's midfield is better than ours (Kennedy, Parker, Mitchell, Hannebery, Jack etc - is arguably best in the league). What we will need is for Shuey and Yeo to continue their form from last week, Redden to step up, NicNat to dominate even more in the ruck and Gaff and Jetta to have an influence. We certainly need our best ball winner (Priddis) in the side to help negate the influence of their contested ball winners. Which is why I'd also be a bit surprised if Hutchings was dropped. My gut feel is if our midfield performs well we should win, if it doesn't we will lose. Think our backs and forwards have them covered but there is only so much they can do if our mids are getting dominated.

Jetta had one of his best games of the year also which I found interesting. But it was at Domain so not sure if that will translate. Is Sinkers playing atm?

If you are going to reinstate the ol' Priddis debate I'm going to report you to the mods.
Just see if I won't.

Rain will mitigate much of the difference between Lycett and McInnes, I feel.

On the contrary - more rain would lead to more stoppages I would expect - as such the better ruck would be advantageous
