Disagree, if you gett 22 touches @ 95% with Shuey skillset it's always going to be a top game, regardless of the opposition.
but the chances of shuey opertaing at 95% against a good team would be rarer.

Eagles confirm Sharrod Wellingham will play his first game of the AFL season against Sydney this weekend @abcnewsPerth

Also this from TITUS O'REILY

Sydney v West Coast (SCG) 1.45pm

Another good game! This season is really ticking all the boxes and I’m not just saying that because Collingwood, Port and Carlton are awful.

Sydney and Adelaide played a classic last week and the Swans will be keen to see that they don’t just get praised for effort at the end of this one.

Lewis Jetta returns to face his old side and we all know how well he goes in big games. I’ve printed the missing person posters already.

If it wasn’t for the Eagles embarrassing effort against the Hawks, you’d say their season was tracking along nicely but that loss hangs heavily over the early part of the year.

This is another big challenge against another team on track to challenge and a loss here could raise a lot of questions over the Eagles. Luckily, they are well rested after Richmond forfeited last week’s game.

Still, I always like the Swans at the SCG and I’m picking them here.

If last week was a final I upset both priddis and Wellingham would have played

I think if we are in a position this to rest players then we should without compromising winning and losing obviously

I think we could go small v swans and not bring in a second ruckman

Nic Nat may ruck the whole game .....it's a shorter ground ....mcgivern can ruck in the back line and forearm line and Nic Nat roam between the 50 meter arcs

I think going small against swans is smart ....they don't play a tall style game ....even buddy plays small for a key forward

Wellers n Pridda confirmed. Everyday i get confident (mainly coz wellers is back) but then i see everyone tip against us. rollercoaster of emotion.

Sounds Adam Simpson likes to replace " like for like " , Giles in for Lycett ..... Maybe Giles just playing 20-30% game time easing the load on NicNat might be an okay way to go !!

Ok so who takes tippet when forward. Im in the camp emac because tippet is a man mountain and after seeing jenkins rag dolling schofield a few times last season, i don't have the confidence of him in a 1v1 against tippet. He might actually do alright on buddy when he rotates.

3 changes is too many considering how well we played last week.

In - Priddis, Wellingham
Out - Nelson, Lycett

If we do bring in a 'ruck' then McInnes in and would have to be Redden out. Hutch came in and did what was asked

Giles just need to do this

Get 10-12 hit outs

Compete like hell and neutralise as many contests as he can ..Sneak 10-12 touches

And kick a goal if he gets a shot ....THATS ALL HE NEEDS TO DO

I RECKON HE CAN DO THAT

Yes hopefully a genuine ruckman can keep it away from the Sydney midfield or else we may struggle although Tippett and Sinclair may not hurt us too much ......oh to be on match committee :footy:

And body contact for the love of god. My nephews footy league all the bigs seem averse to body contact. Its infuriating when afl bigs are too

I think giles needs to provide a few blocks so our jk can lead and get some seperation from grundy. Lycetts been very good at that and mcinnis did that well last year.

Three changes being too much is a pretty simple heuristic. It depends more on how well the guys selected can execute the plan.

Wellingham knows how the backline works and can direct the others around him. Easy choice.

If Priddis replaces Hutchings we aren't bringing in someone who doesn't know the gameplan or who others haven't got enough experience working with. So far we haven't upset the cart with the changes.

Lycett is the hardest to replace, but we don't have a choice. There is no way we send in Nic on his own or with support from Gov - Simmo has pretty much given that away. And I think Lycett knows our set up very well - see his spoil near the wing in the 3rd quarter last week when he closed down the space of three separate Richmond players. Could be a huge loss if Giles/FMac aren't all over the plan.

WHAT’S HOT

Sydney ($1.75) — Despite this match looking likely to go down to the wire, the Swans have been the best backed team of the round, with 73 per cent of the market.

God i hope we win.

We will take the underdog status, I think. Play it like the port game last year. Just go out and play for each other, and remember how good it feels on the plane home when we get the win. :)

I don't mind either giles or McInnes in that 2nd ruck role tbh. Both offer something different. Both should be super keen to do well too, which bodes well for us.

Glad wellingham is back. Mcgovern playing injured was really amplified by wellingham not being there to pick up the slack. IMO McGovern got the plaudits, but wellingham did a lot of work off the ball last year to help us defend the ball coming in, plus we need his mongrel.

Also good to see priddis is ok as well and his injury wasn't major. those groin injuries can be troublesome.
