Yeah they will stay with the two tall defenders and maybe Nelson might come in but unlikely , less talls in defence has helped the ball movement and defencesive attack .

So does anyone think they will debut Barrass regardless of McGovern? Richmond are already talking up their 3 tall forwards to stretch us.

I think the match committee are happy that Vickery played his one good game this season against Fremantle.. Riewoldt sitting in the goal square wrestling with Schofield worries me though. I assume we will play someone in front for the long bomb but if our midfield don't put pressure on the ball coming in there likely to find targets anyway.

What I mean to say is it won't be the fact that Richmond are tall that stretch us, it will be there midfield getting on top and finding easy leading targets. I doubt they will mark many long bombs in over McGovern, Schofield, Hurn or Wellingham.

A lot of the teams we've faced haven't. We have been lucky so far. The windy conditions helped us against Norths talls and Geelong had a forward go down during the game.
Two. Then Hawkins had to play ruck to fill in for Stanley and Clark.

Essendon could have had Daniher, Carlisle, Ambrose if they brought a ruckman. Sydney will be fun.

Off the top of my head:
- Freo had 3
- port had 3
- north had 3

So you're right. Some three and some two. I think two talls is fine though. Just too risky bringing in a first gamer IMO.

The biggest issue for us is all our other defenders are all mid 180cm. Its why they rely on Yeo sometimes to go back being 190. He should be playing midfield permanently. If we just had a medium sized defender that could do a job for us when we need to it would be fine just having 2 KPDs but we dont.

That's a good point. I wonder if Rosa will get a run on a HBF at some point.

This will be our third game in 12 days including flights from Perth to Tasmania to Perth to Melbourne against a team coming off a 14 day break. It's not an excuse, it's just a clear disadvantage. In saying that, I still think we're a big chance because I think West Coast are a better side and Richmond are known for losing these kinds of games.

These guys are elite athletes in a professional footy league. Give me a break.

Don't most teams have three tall forwards though?

I'm happy to stick with two tall defenders.

So am I. We have Kennedy, Darling and a resting ruck up forward but if our midfield puts enough pressure on and the kicks coming into our back half a smaller mobile back men such as a Wellingham / Hurn / Sheppard can cut off poor kicks and counter attack.

I think we made a mistake for some time playing too tall up forward and down back.

Hopefully Ellis, Selwood, Darling and a Barrass / Nelson can add some fresh legs. Yeo had a week off two weeks ago and is due for a big game.:thumbsu:
