No I love it.

Sam Gray may have stuck to his task during the game, but still had zero impact on the outcome because he is basically ineffective as an AFL player, and always will be. Therefore playing him deprives others of opportunity.

Please tell me again using your pig-headed arrogance as a hammer that I know nothing about the game ;)

A tad incorrect, have another look at the game. There was at least one contest he made which saved a certain goal when the game was in doubt.

No doubt you know a lot about the game but my money would be on Kern and the selection committee at the moment.

If Ollie is missing - Moore
If Gray is missing -Young
If we have all of our stock standard inside mids playing S Gray, but I would probably go Mitchell or Neade.

If we have a full team available then atm they would all struggle to get a game.

So you reckon Gray will have the same game he had against Melbourne against a hardened Sydney in a few weeks? I sure hope so, because that's what you're implying. That he's a better finals type player than Young/Moore.

When we lost against West Coast, did you champion the cause of team dynamics and ask for Gray? Did anyone? What about Brisbane? Did you look at that game and think "You know what we're missing? Sam Gray."

Of course, that's what the selection committee said, and after stinking it up against Richmond in another loss at home they play him in the midfield to justify his promotion and he looks ok...against Melbourne.

Give Young or Moore the same opportunity and they'd perform just as well if not better. And you're wrong about our best team - even with Ryder and Polec back there is still two spots up for grabs now that Kane has retired.

My point. Running out in the finals against Freo/Hawks... do you want Moore/Young/S Gray? Simple question really.

If we are playing Sam Gray in a final i'd be concerned by the look of our injury list. If everyone is fit and firing, then Young would be my pick.

Gray hasn't even kicked a behind this year, let alone a goal. And last year he averaged half a goal a game if you exclude the game that we won by 100+ points.

Also, I can only assume that *PAF was on holidays last year when Trengove and Carlile went down in our already short side and we decided that our structure would be fine if we replaced two key defenders with one tall-ish half back flanker.
Nah. Perhaps PAF is one of the posters that thinks we could do with another Ebert type in the team, one that plays with a bit more forward flair, Neade style.
BraBert defence to forward fifty, new player defensive 50 to forward line.

Not an easy player to find, and whilst the coaching side is trying to find one there will be many posters on here getting a bit personal towards the players that we try out.

I'm on #TeamYoung but at the same time I think it's fair to say Moore has been really unlucky this season.

If he was fit/not suspended, He'd have played a few games already.

Young v Moore is a very interesting debate. Board would be divided 50/50 i reckon

#teamyoung

On exposed form it's not even close. Young has Moore covered and then some. But that's the problem - instead of giving Moore a shot this year against teams we should really be accounting for pretty comfortably, we're playing guys like Gray for some strange reason. It's like people think there is only room in the side for one of them when the reality is that with the interchange we should be playing both and giving guys Boak and Wines more extended rests on the bench which will 1) reduce the number of interchanges we need and 2) allow all of them to rotate through the forward line.

Worry about if when and if it happens. If Gray is still in the side come finals time, it's because he has done something right and has earned his spot. I'm sure all the rational clear thinking people around here would acknowledge that.

Port adelaide arnt ****edd stop being so negative.

Sam is doing ok..Its just the position and role that he is best suited to play that is the discussion..Not big enough for inside mid.not quick enough for outside mid..Having looks at him closely I think he may be suited to shut down roles on small forwards..I personally have a problem with the way Impey defends which is an all or nothing scenario..no thought...Wont happen but if Horvat is causing problem give Sam a go on him...Fearless,can run out a game, and will follow instructions...In saying that I just hope Sam played well.

Sorry, I don't have time to read the whole thread and I am sure this has been discussed already but, "Hinkley: we thought Sam Gray was really good last week, and we had to put one of our rookies back down, so Krak was the man" WTF! I am starting to find it difficult to trust Ken these days.

I guess the thing is, they have been having a bit of a 'resting' program happening with players etc.... no risk, it could just be that.

It isn't.

It isn't.

So it's just the rookie thing? he seriously deserves his spot, gun skills and composure coming out of back line (with Polac out it's kinda what we have been missing!). Decisions this year don't marry up to the Ken I have gotten to know.

Confused. (it's like they have some long term plan they are sticking too about the season). I'm sure it won't be the last we see of him this year.

Yep. It's definitely split across the board. Personally I think Moore is the player with the far higher ceiling, and for mine he is the better midfielder. Young for me is the better HFF, but has a lower ceiling as a mid.

I'm on #teamonthefence. We've seen young for a few games this year, now i'd like to see Moore. Given they both have a high output at SANFL level and there is possibly only one genuine list spot for them, I'd like to able to compare them at AFL level.

#teamyoung They get sorted out at practice during the week. Moore had a good run last year we know what we are going to get. It's maybe Young a little in front but with more upside. I don't believe they are competing for the same spot. I believe it's Moore vs Stewart.

I don't think Moore has been given long enough. Unfortunately our season is on a knife edge now so we don't have the luxury of trying him out and he will only get a chance through injury or very poor form by Young, Gray or Mitchell. Which would mean our season is over anyway.

To be honest both Moore and Young have been on our list long enough to decide there place in the team. Young has been on our list for a shorter time but looks to have jumped Moore for team selection. I believe at years end if we don't live up to this years expectations there will be more cuts than normal. Anyone who's been on our list at seasons end for over 5 years and can't cut the mustard needs to be moved on. You will always have in and out players (back up types) but if you can't even make the back up list its hit the road jack.
