I see that Nixon has been BOG for willie the past two rounds so he would have to be a chance to come back into the team especially seing as he is young. Crow was also among the best and having been emergency for the last two games would also have to be in the mix.

Goughy should never have been dropped...

What do you guys think will happen, and what would you like to see happen?

I don't fully understand what's going on at the minute.

I'm hoping that playing the likes of King, Lokan and Shakleton, and not playing the likes of Mullins, McGough and Nixon, that they are simply giving them a go to see if they are worth saving.

McGough is the new Scotland (except better than Scoots). I have a feeling that we're blowing a chance at realising a potential star, through sheer ignorance of talent.

I'm very cynical of our entire football department at the minute. They are projecting to me that they are more interested in honest battlers, than bona-fide talents.

I'm very worried about who they're going to cull at year's end.

Yes I agree, let's hope that the CFC has learned from the Heath Scotland thing and doesn't allow Goughy to follow suit. Having said that I believe that Goughy should look else where simply because he is too good for the VFL.

I know its tragic to see some of the players that are still on the list. To think that rupe is gone and some of the crud that is still on the list is laughable at best.

Hard to know how much of his handling is due to OP. Given he was rumoured to have been trade bait last year you'd have to be cynical of his perceived value from with the match committee. His biggest problem is that his biggest deficiencies are our 2 biggest weaknesses. Pace and disposal are not AFL standard. I’d like to see him play in the middle for the rest of the year though so he could prove he can cope with those deficiencies and be of value. As it is he would not have a high trade value anyway. The worst we could achieve by playing is reduce it slightly further and that’s only a maybe.

'Carying' McGough is a something I dream of.

Yeah, he has the deficiencies that we don't really need, but if we go through a list of who we've been carying over the past few years, 'carying' McGough is a luxury.

Carying players like Lokan, King, Leon etc. Hey, maybe they've got pace, but FFS, they ain't in Stinky's league when it comes to winning a footy match. Nor will they ever be!

We shouldn't be throwing players of unique ability out, just because they don't fill a need. We should be replacing the ones out without potential with ones that cover that need and all of a sudden, carying McG's flaws is irrelevant, as we'll be winning games!

Here's my analysis of players which I posted at Hottie's today:

--------------------------------------

The Heros: Top shelf players with no discernable weaknesses and/or stars.
1. Nathan Buckley
2. Chris Tarrant
3. Scott Burns
4. James Clement

The Solids: Very good players who account for their deficiencies very well.
1. Paul Licuria
2. Anthony Rocca
3. Shane Wakelin
4. Simon Presigiacomo

The Uniques: Players who are young, have deficiienies, but have something special that can win, or has won us games (P = Potential).
1. Josh Fraser
2. Ben Johnson
3. Alan Didak
4. Richie Cole
5. Mark McGough
6. Ryan Lonie
7. Jason Cloke
P: Julian Rowe
P: Luke Mullins
P. Bo Nixon

The Raws: Talls who are worth persisting with at this stage. Longer development period (no order).
Guy Richards
Cameron Cloke
Tristen Walker
Billy Morrison
Brent Hall
Nick Maxwell
Tom Davidson

The Clones: Self explanitory. In order of ability and/or potential.
1. Shane Woewodin
2. Brodie Holland
3. Tarkyn Lockyer
4. Shane O'Bree
5. Rhyce Shaw
6. Dane Swan
7. Leon Davis
8. Matthew Lokan
P. Brayden Shaw
P. Luke Shakleton
P. Heath Shaw
P. David King

The Duds: (In order of liability)
1. Ben Kinnear
2. Andrew Williams
3. Steve McKee

I am of the opinion that Maxwell deserves his promotion. He's surprised me with his poise and capability and looks like becoming a solid player.

Surely we will do everything required to remove the bottom three guys. I am worried though!

Then I'd suggest we have minimum two spots to vacate. My concerns are that we (our elected footy department) will ignore the fact that the 2002 draft was the weakest one I've seen and maintain that we drafted well.

We're obviously overloaded with clones, and that the worst (or least potential) of those clones are the guys from the 2002 draft.

If I were to chose two players to delist, in addition to McKee, Williams and Kinnear, I'd chose King and Lokan. Lokan has served his purpose. I can't see King's AFL potential and he offers nothing unique.

I am scared to death that some incorrect decisions will be made at the end of this year and cost us some talented young footballers, at the expense of some battling clones. Very nervous!!

hay u must admit though mckee was a good ruckmen untill they changed the taking the ball out of the ruck rule bhut i must say he made some improvement

1. Holland is tough, smart, skillful and also undiseplined.

2. You guys overate McGough so much. He has the abilitiy to find huge amounts of the ball but he is slow and he doesn't have a great kick. Although he should be playing infront of O'bree

Good effort FIGJAM.

A couple of points:

1. I rate McGough but the problem is in your first and second group you have Tarrant who is not a good kick and misses far too many goals for the elite player he otherwise is. Rocca misses far too many goals. Burns is my favorite player but his kicking is good but lacks penetration. Licuria is much imporoved but his kicking can still be poor at times. Presti is suspect although he generally doesn't do too badly. The point is that when you have kicking deficiencies at the top end you can't carry too many at the middle & lower end with the same deficiencies. The fact is that our best 25 to 30 players as a group are poor kicks. That simply has to change or we cannot win a premiership. McGough is far from the first I'd trade but foot skills has to be a major determinant.

2. See 1. but swap footskills for pace. Buckley, Burns and Lica are tremedous players but they aren't quick. Wakes & Presti are good KPP's players but they are slow, particularly Presti.

Now you move to the lower catagories you have and once again you see the same deficiencies.

so what is the answer?

O'Bree - poor kick and lacks pace. Must be traded.
Woewodin - good left side but lacks pace. Trade for decent offer or else keep.
Davis - had pace but can't get the ball enough to use it. Kicking is hot and cold. Trade.

3. Clones. yes we have too many.

Swan - trade if a decent deal.
Nixon - what does he offer that we don;t have plenty of? Trade or delist.
Lokan - not fast enough for his role given the pace deficiency we already have. Versatile but not really good enough at anything yet. Trade if a deal is there or keep for 1 more year if not.

4. Players on a last chance year:
King
Lokan
Davis
Skakleton

5. Trade delist or shoot:
Kinnear, Williams, Kinnear.

After 5, 2 more need to go subject to trades. If we can't do any trades, after shooting Balme & co we should delist Nixon and Lokan.

I don't think McKee was ever good.
He filled a vacancy thats all.

i think nixon will come in this week
i would like to see him play the rest of the games this season as i think he is a development player who still needs perservering with
wouldnt mind seeing mullins back, but i dont like his chances
im expecting Crow to get a game due to some injuries, not sure if maxwell and j cloke will come up for the dockers

IN. Nixon McGough Crow
Out. Lokan Mckee Maxwell(inj)

im sick of seeing stunner do nothing, and mcgough deserves to get some more games

I think shooting Kinnear is the best option, saves paying out the ****ing second year of his contract.
