In the age today Eddie blasted the AFL regarding changing our guernsey for away matches! Rightly so i reckon! Love the man for standing up for us, imagine being a carlton or essendon supporter right now!
A few people have mentioned boycotting games if this occurs. I think this is a great idea as we are the greatest club and we should be treated so. We shouldnt have to put up with the AFL's crap.Thoughts?

Well, there is talk, and there will be a clash jumper, but I don't think the Pies should be arguing too much. There shouldn't be a huge change in the guernsey, but just enough for a clash. Keep the stripes, but as always suggested, just have white on black, like we did for many years.

Here is my attempt...may look more like a Training guernsey, but none the less, I reckon it is better than the Crows clash guernsey.

The AFL shouldnt have to put up with you, not vice versa. Boycotting games could bring in the Sharks alot quicker so that could be a positive, and imagine not being a carlton, essendon or collingwood supporter right now. Geez its funny watching some, and i say some, of you guys whinge about the colour and design of the material you wear into games!

Congratulations to all Victorian clubs with history or no history that have changed their guernsey for a handful of games over the last few years. Respect to them for following the rules of the AFL....or is it the CFL (Collingwood Football League). One of the two

And what would a Crows supporter know of history? You are right though, boycotting games WILL bring the Sharks in a lot quicker... as the decreased funds from the CBF cause North or the Dogs to folsd. Even quicker if Bombers supporters boycott as well.

Collingwood wear Black and White Stripes. Period.

(Lonie: too much of a compromise)

******** you idiot!

We've done nothing but be pro-active in this matter, and have created at least four alternate designs, which would have minimal clash against even a team like North, who stole our design.

All that really needs to be established, is a darker theme and a whiter theme. Other than that, we do not need to bend over by eliminating our stripes.

You and everyone else who says otherwise can go and get ********ed!!

I was having a go at the original poster and those collingwood supporters with the same frame of mind as him, not those in support of it like alot of you on here. Reread my post ya illiterate "big footy moderator"!

I know my opinion will not be popular but I can't see what all the fuss is about. So what if we need to change the jumper for a few games. We could still keep the same colours and go for something like the pre season jumper we have with the magpie across the front.

I really don't think we would be breaking with tradition too much with a slight jumper change for a few games a year

What a crock. They didn’t follow and rules. There weren’t any and still aren’t. They followed their marketing advisors direction. I don’t care what you think of your jumper or even ours. I care what I and Collingwood supporters want and hope we fight for it. If that bothers you I could care less. You don’t even understand the issue and even if you did you couldn’t relate to it.

If changing the jumper is progress then so is swapping all the Lygon St. restaurants for American fast food outlets and passing off that orange stuff as cheese. Change isn’t progress it’s just change.

Exactly Mark. The progress is minimising ay clash.

Completely eradicating the stripes is unnecessary in minimising clash, and forcing such a change is change for change sake, and an example of the AFL using stand-over tactics.

We won't fall for that ********!

If I could be so bold to suggest a couple of changes to your jumper design. Replace the magpie on the front with another stripe and add another to the back and we have a winner!

This design on the left would be similar to the one you suggest.

The AFL has rejected this design with little reason. If we alternate between the two there will be no clashes, it's not like clashes are a problem anyway, there is no problem with the players and umpires (the ones who actually have to rely on their vision to dispose of the ball to a teammate/make a decision) and they are hardly a hindrance to spectators.
St.Kilda's away jumper is just our white jumper with an extra red stripe. If in St.K home games they wear their normal tri-coloured guernsey (the black-backed one with one red, one white and one black stripe) while we wear our mostly white one their would be no problem. We could wear our 2002 away jumper (black with the big magpie on the front, shortening the white stripes) against the Kangaroos and everything will be fine.

Exactly we are talking about the AFL who let the umpires wear red in a match with Sydney in it and let them wear grass-green.

What about the time when the umpires wore yellow in a Hawthorn Richmond game, I think it was the year before last. Does anyone remember that LOL

You Collingwood supporters a so bloody ignorant. The AFL wants you to provide a clash jumper for next season and beyond. What did you do? Brought back a jumper you wore 10 bloody years ago.

How hard is it for you and Eddie friggin McGuire that bringing in a real clash guernsey would make your club so much money it rediculous.

What's wrong with doing what North Melbourne have done to avoid a clash. They have an all blue jumper and a white outline picture of a Kangaroo.

Why can you provide an all black jumper with a white outline of a Magpie. Is it so hard to wear a jumper like that once or twice a year.

Geez, my club, Port Adelaide, a club with MORE HISTORY AND HERITAGE than Collingwood will ever have, were more than happy to create the teal clash jumper to avoid a clash with Collingwood at HOME games. Now you have to provide a CLASH jumper to avoid a clash of colors at Port HOME games.

Stop so being so bloody ignorant people.

You read what im about to say very carefully crow!!!! There is only one reason why you decided to write something so stupid in our forum and thats to raise a stir, so well done!!!! You have been in the competition for 15 years, what would you know!!!!! We are a great proud club with a rich history or past gladiators who went out on that battle field in those black and white stripes and put their bodies on the lines week in and week out since 1896, 39 grand finals and 14 flags later the AFL wants to undermine the great Collingwood football club and tell us what to wear, its a discrase!!! Eddie has done the right thing and we all know it, he should take the AFL to the suprieme court if he has too over this! For 100 years there was no issue with jumpers, and now we seem to have a problem with the AFL trying to generate more money!!!!

Why dont you go back to your own forum and stay there!

You have been in the comp since 1997, what would you know? You are your teal jumpers, what a joke! What history are you on about? SAFL or whatever you call it? This is AFL buddy!!!!!!! Seem to be a little confused??
