The Falcon Strike
Hall of Famer
I agree.
I don't mind the Ch 9 guys at all, and a lot of the criticism on here is way over the top, but I suppose I can understand how the nicknaming and the jokey-blokey stuff isn't everyone's cup of tea.
I much prefer the current, relaxed, muck-around style to the more formal, stiff style from the days of yore. I reckon it stepped up when Kerry dropped off, coz they all relaxed and started being a bit more real.
While I'm ranting (and still have some coffee in my cup)......
I dunno how the notion that the ABC commentary is ten times better gets accepted as a truism. Sure, the ABC might be better, but they've got their duds. I quite like O'Keefe and Agnew, and Henry most of the time, but Alderman bores the **** off me, and only says something interesting about twice a day. MacDonald put me to sleep when he was there (I hope he never comes back). Jim Maxwell might be very slick and knowledgeable, but he's an old fart who moans about everything, especially any innovation to the game. Drew is ok, but he's just a 'white bread' ball-by-ball guy who could be replaced without anyone noticing.
I don't the guys on 3aw/6PR: Chappelli, D. Flemming, Blewett, Moody, Gladstone Small, and the ball-by-ball guys are Tim Lane, Blofeld, Bruce Eva and Karl Langdon.

The main issue with ABC is they usually use one local in each state.
Alderman is bloody hopeless - has been for a while.
Other than that, I like the ABC - I do agree Maxwell is a little self-righteous - but overall they are a better package.
It helps that they get quality internationals like Agnew, Bhogle et al
