Horrible to lose today. Feel terrible right now, might go dig a hole and sit in it.

On the other side of things, our team showed that they have strong character to fight on right throughout the afternoon. once again, it would have been easier just to pack up and have a rest, but they kept at it and proved something to themselves. This will be handy in the future.

The team probably learned something today. They had a win last week and in the first quarter and a half they all waited for a mate to do the hard work. They finally woke up though and they should be able to look back on this experience and learn a good lesson for the future.

Might be time for Corazzo to have a rest.

Looking forward to next week when our boys have a chance to redeem themselves.

A true show of character would have been to turn up in the first quarter. This is just so bloody frustrating!!
would probably describe that as maturity and experience.

Have to agree with that. It was good that they kept trying till the end but to throw away the game in the first quarter is unacceptable. :(

Hmm, would be interesting to compare today's Hawks to us in that regard.

And who are we going to bring in for next week? Smith was the only young player named in our best for the bullants, i dont want to see chambers, sporn or teague come back into the side. Bower, hartlett and Edwards whats happening with them? or arent they up to it? I cant understand us not playing them when we are last, lets throw them in and see what they are worth. We have nothing to loose by playing them.

probably safe to say that either team could have the same problem from week to week. But today was the Hawks day.

surely you can understand that we would reward a winning team by not dropping players? But now we are coming off a loss, so the question is, do we give players the chance to redeem themselves next week or do we punish them by dropping them?

Very good second half by the Blues - Fev is a gun - but I cannot believe how we can play so bad in the first half and so good in the second. The boys must have thought it was going to happen - they won one game and grew a big head and it took them a half to switch on.
Spot on. That is what Pagan said in his press conference. The young blokes got ahead of themselves and were probably still celebrating the win in their minds. That is what kids do, unfortunately.

Understand completely, and wasnt looking for changes before todays game, but after that performance changes need to be made, but where will they come from? Our only consistant performers from the bullants are the likes of chambers, Teague and Sporn, and as we all know them 3 arent up to AFL level, so who do we bring in, Bower, Edwards and Hartlett arent playing consistant enough to be promoted to the seniors, or do we just bite the bullet and throw them in and see what they have got?

The first half we had no endeavour, run or tackling skills...so many tackles were broken...Good to fight back but the game was won in the first half the hawks simply ran out of puff...
Very dissapointing today!

I agree with that. Fortunately and yet unfortunately, we had a win last week. That alone is enough to make us flat in our next match. I have no doubt Hawthorn will have the same problem against their next opponent (Essendon?).

It seems we underate the importance of intensity. Although skill is required to beat sides like Melbourne, it's nothing if you don't have the intensity required. Coming into this match, we overated our skills and didn't bring the intensity. It wasn't long before we payed for that mistake...

We were smashed in the middle, but add murph and hopefully gibbs ,also bryan not up to it to lazy back to bullants maybe russell as well .Play irish in ruck and please play bower and smith please :thumbsu:

Character would be the team respecting themselves and their supporters enough to come to play for 4 quarters. I do not care if they lose only if they play with spirit for the whole game.

It hurts more to have shown us that we could of won the game if we played the whole game like they did in the last.

I'm more irritated and annoyed at them and think their character needs a bit of working on. Fact is... they've been the worst team in the comp over the last 5 years. Lots of other supporters go, gee you have lots of talent....

Talent wont get you anywhere unless the attitude is right.

I'm angry, ticked off, the last few years I've felt like the team have been teasing us... they show us flashes of hope and then they pull that away from us.

I need a few days to calm down.

Have you tried slamming a door or two? Throwing some things around, like a cushion or a newspaper/magazine? Works for me. Mind you, it is probably more effective if you do it during or immediately after the game.

Lack of hardness and intensity by our players in the 1st half was evident. Their clearances, and midfield run killed us. Couldn't lay a proper tackle, and insufficent pressure applied. Disappointed with several players who wanted to take the easy option and didn't want to get hurt. Bentick, Carrazzo, and Russell need more time in Bullants. French played an "absolute shocker" against their 2nd tier ruckman, should be dropped, but no one better to come in. I'd promote Smith & Bower. Can't do any worse than some of the players today?

Maybe giving Toula, I mean Houla, Bentick, Carrazzo and Bryan a hard kick in the arse might work?
