I come in peace again. I love cryptic clues so having a punt on what your announcement could be.

A few weeks ago I heard on BBC world that the Chinese Government is concerned about smog affecting its ability to train athletes. particularly affecting its Olympic program.

My guess is that you guys will have a joint venture with the Chinese government, Port and UniSA to have a new training facility built, at the city site around Port road rumoured a while ago.

  • You guys get a new training facility near the current City West site of Unisa. But keep The Port Club and Magpies play at Alberton. Plus invovlement in a globally elite sports science program.
  • Chinese Government have a training facility they can send elite Olympic athletes to without smog issues.
  • UniSA expand upon their work in the Sports science field. Have access to an elite facility near their City West Campus.

Yep 1 Port Rd was mentioned again last week, certainly an interesting thought

I like it. When are you coming back to the dark side?

Welcome, it really is a lot of fun over here, isn't it.:) Another interesting guess. not exactly sure how the clues would lead you to that conclusion but then again, who knows. I would be stoked if it was eventually something like this but even in my wildest dreams I don't think it could be this big. Still, am enjoying the clues and suggestions and proud that our club has come so far in such a short period of time. Great leadership Kochie and Kasual. Countdown 3 more sleeps.

Add me to the list of people enjoying this cryptic (well not crossword, but problem solving expedition).

I take it that the Adelaide media has been well and truly shut out from this? Seems unlike Rucci to be able to resist dropping smug hints no matter how tight the embargo.
Nor Roo narky ones.

Still think that an airline sponsorship with China Southern is on the cards

Whitlam laying out the path to China

Christmas pressie at the bottom of the rabbit hole - direct flights from December ?

Visitors going both ways

Though I like Geoffa32's thinking and could tie in with above

The 1 Port Rd rumour didn't come out of thin air

I doubt LR is going to be too specific with what's coming,

I suspect all we will get are general clues as to what this will mean, not the actual details of the MOU.

Although I agree Geoffa's thinking is intriguing, that would be huge.

A Chinese friend of mine sent me this photo from Friday nights broadcast in China:

Nice logo at the back there, made me go digging looking for that other one.

I wonder whether that would include China funding and putting a plethora of sport scientists through Burgo's UniSA program.

Education is a significant money spinner for Australia ATM and that would certainly be something that the Gov would want to support.

If true, the local media might have to change their angle...

HAS BURGESS COOKED PORT ADELAIDE SAVED PORT ADELAIDE'S BACON?

I reckon we have all been convinced ( AFC and their customers the exception) that it will be a major and positive announcement.

How this will be handled by the local and national media will be interesting to say the least.

With the PM over in China one would expect (election coming up) that the Libs will be looking for positive news to report (heavens knows they need some),so here's hoping our news doesn't get ambushed by other announcements.

Yes with the delegation led by Weatherill, plus the Prime Minister arriving there on wednesday there is obviously more, and probably bigger, news than just ours. Perhaps winery deals too. I am assuming our announcement will be one of many. As long as it benefits our club and shows we are not a stain on the AFL landscape, as some have suggested in the past, I will be well satisfied.

If Tunbull makes the announcement will it last more than a week?

Malcom Tunbull? That would be a pretty long speech in anyone's language. Doing your own cryptics, Ford?

pro eastern sea board High Speed Rail announcement expected, can't see any PAFC/SA gains there other then steel maybe helping Wyalla

Arrium subsidiary One Steel owns Trak-Lok which manufactures the periphery materials for rail lines at Lonsdale and the main materials at Whyalla.
