Round 8 captain options are up. First listed is most recent.

LBF 51, 79, 50
BJ 126, 67, 118
Cross 65, 103
KCornes 164, 122, 117
Corey 134, 104, 76
Bartell 132, 89, 115
Cox 111, 150, 77
Heater 104, 83, 83
Swan 136, 68
Pav 90, 74, 111
Chappy 70, 92, 107

Good
-------
KCornes no contest if you have him. Lock. Highest scoring ground in Australia and great history against Hawks. Probably goes to Mitchell.
Chappy scored 70 in one quarter before doing Hammy last year against the Tigers so could be a smokey. Corey and Bartell look solid choices but may get more attention if Ablett's out. Cox record great and if he's the only ruckman named there are worse choices.

Not so good
------------

Morris has stitched up Pav the last few times so is a risk. Cross has played 4 games with West this year averaging 117 and 3 without averaging 88. I have posted this around Cross a few times but his scores depend heavily on West playing. Crowley will go to Cooney so there is some upside. BJ still a risk with the calf. Buddy's history is poor but is a different player now, better team as well. Not sure on Swan with that lingering leg injury doubt.

Re: Round 8 Captains

Bartel, Ablett, Corey, Kornes, Bruce, Heath Shaw, Cross, Richo, Mitchell, Cox, Scotland, Carazzo, Goodwin, O'Keefe, J.Brown
In that order of preference.
With Geelong against Richmond, I'd give it to Jimmy if I had him. Corey and Ablett will surely score well too. Great records against the Tigers - all averaging over 104 in their last 3 games against them.

As has been said, Kornes is hard to go past if you've got him. He'll be my pick. Mitchell would be a good pick also I reckon. Is hitting some form and has a good record against the Power.

Bruce, Shaw and Richo are smokies. All with very good recent records against the teams they are versing. Shaw coming off 150 last week.

Scotland/Carazzo and any other Carlton mid should dominate against the Lions who give away lots of DT points. J Brown could get 170 this week given his recent record against the blues..but his current form should put most coaches off.

I'd tip the Adelaide mids of Thompson, Edwards and Goodwin to rack them up big time. And Bruce's last 3 games against the Crows have got him 381 DT points! Hitting form too.

Brad Johnson should do well, has a good record against Freo. But I wouldn't be brave enough to punt on him - there are heaps of better options.

I reckon that about covers it. In summary, my tips for this week:

1. Jimmy Bartel
2. The Kane
3. Ablett/Corey
4. Cam Bruce - the smoky.

Re: Round 8 Captains

I personally am going the safe option of kornes.....however, a side of me wants to choose browny against the blues, especially because of last years performance but that cloud over his head still pulls me off him!!

Re: Round 8 Captains

Kornes will be everyone's captain of those with him.

I'll probably go with Kornes or maybe this week I will choose Salopek :)

I have both, but I was thinking the very same thing... ;)

In reference to Kornes manning up on Mitchell, that will most likely happen.

From memory, they both go berzerk as Mitchell is prepared to give Kane some space as long as he is finding the pill himself.

All three mentioned will do well this week.

Due to mitchell being around all the stopages this gives kane more time around the ball and may lead to more tackles and disposals than usaul.

As mentioned above mitchell really just goes after the ball himself and this will allow Kane to find space and pick up a lot of marks and possesions. I dont think he will be kicking 3 goals like last time but with his last 3 scores of 164, 122 and 117 and also the fact that he is playing at the highest scoring dreamteam ground (aurora) he will be a popular captain choce this week.

With Garry Ablett coming back this week it will free up the likes of Corey and Bartel and due to less attention and more support they should be able to dominate the tigers midfield. Some people have predicted rain for the weekend which will only benefit these 2 as there tackle count will increase drasticly.

Bartel got 132 and 89 (got a knock and was benched for a long period) in his last 2 games and should benifit from the wet conditions.

134, 104 and 76 Corey looks like continuing on his great dreamteam form and hitting another 100+ score. i wouldn't be put off by the 76 because it has really been over the last year and a half corey has dominated the dreamteam world.

These 3 mids look like tearing it apart this week and i hope you all have at least 1 in your team.

1. Kane Cornes
2. Bartel
3. Corey

Re: Round 8 Captains

Cheers, i think it is important that those discouraged by Bartel's 89 against richmond last year should know that he spent most of the 2nd half on the pine due to that knock he recieved.

Similar to Chappy's 70 last year against Richmond when he racked em up in one quarter and was headed for the DT record until the Hammy.

What about Goodes at home against the bumblers?

Or maybe I should go the safety in Corey? hmmmmm
Don't know why you would consider Goodes if you have Corey tbh.
I mean, don't be tempted to go against gun players like Corey just because they are expected to do well. They aren't only the 'safe' option - often they are the best option.

What's everyone think about Cox? Does his foot make him a risky option?

I'm leaning towards Goodwin atm, I think he should tear it up against the Dees @ AAMI.

Is just a wee thought as it's raining here and not in Sydney.

Then there's Swan or Shaw under the roof.
Then there's Coxy against that windbag McIntosh. :p

Yer ya right, Corey locked in. :D

If Goodes has a massive one I will be back to get you ;)

YOu saw Cox dominate last week. Of course it isnt a a risk.

When he is fully fit he will deffs be my captain for the rest of the year:thumbsu:

Goodwin will probably be a better choice IMO. I think he will have a beauty

Apparently Cox is healing quickly and he is allready kicking on his right foot. has got 111 and 150 in the last 2 games against the Roos....the only concern however is that rain is forecasted but i reckon the big bloke will still hit 100+.

im at a total loss @ who to pick

most obvious seems cox but then there is heath shaw and buddy. both coming off massive games from the last AFL game. buddy @ aurora as well. im just worried he might be due for an off game (?). he should still avg his 9 shots a game i guess. does anyone know what he scored when hawthorn played there earlier this year?

And how about if Corey has a big week? Will you still get back to me? ;)

Cross, K.Cornes or maybe a Franklin, Brown or H.Shaw dont really have many options who should i go.

Cross and K.Cornes are the favourites at the moment
