Oh, of course. I was just checking.

Really warming to Knights. With Foley being signed for another two years, but question marks on his durability, it is also a risk to take on another mid with injury concerns, but if it comes off, and BOTH of them (or just one of them) can stay on the park, it's happy days.

Isn't it three years?

Okay I thought I'd put a Crows perspective on this.

He probably leaves the club, he hasn't been offered a contract and is getting minimal game time.

His 2009 was amazing, had his hamstring held together we would've played in a prelim. He kicked 40 odd goals in 20 games. His left foot was a weapon best shot outside 50 in that year.

Then the injuries happened...

His leg doesn't have that 60m distance. He lacks pace, can accumulate good numbers had some very good games last year.

I see him as a good value play for a new club, give him two years and you might get a great player for nothing, or you get a serviceable depth player.

He'll do good things with a change of scenery IMO.

Thanks mate - can I ask what type of forward is he and who (if anyone) does he resemble in terms of his style? (admittedly, I don't know much about him though a few years back when the crows were on the rise, I recall him being mentioned next to Porps and Tippett as gun forwards.

Have read he is a medium forward who has lost some pace and power on his kicking due to injuries and that he is a bit inconsistent now? I think we need to bring in at least 3-4 good mature age players (either as free agents or rookies) to fill holes in the side (or at the very least, create some depth and competition across the ground). Someone earlier mentioned he was inconsistent and couldn't string games together - if that is the case, could he perhaps be used as a sup to make a late impact on the scoreboard?

Thing I like about Knights is we don't need him for his run, we need him as a HFF to provide another forward target. Hopefully running less may help the injury issues, and give him a better chance of being on the park.

You want him running mate - its part of what made him such a weapon in 09; he's explosive from a standing start (more so than top end speed) but when he was fit, he could run all day, fantastic endurance (beast of a tackler too).

In 09, he just never stopped; he was constantly sprinting from the wings to the flanks (and inside 50), he ran his opponents ragged and then profited. Those 45 odd goals were from something like 15 games - he was amazing.

That 09 Final, losing Knights cost us the game - he was basically playing as our CHF and had a dominant first quarter - when we lost him, our structures fell apart and we literally could not get the ball past the centre. He'd make an excellent foil for JRie. Great overhead for his size as well.

I don't want us to trade him because if he has one big pre season and gets power/strength back through his legs/hips, he'll be a gun again... If he can't, then at worst, he's an average mid-sized player; not terrible, but without any real tricks.

Meant to be a brilliant role model when it comes to preparation and training as well; before he got screwed by injuries, I had him in the running to be our next Captain.

Small risk for potentially a massive reward for you guys; throw him in with Maric and you've got two of my favorite Crows players ;)

Edit - somebody asked for a comparison; when he was up and about in 09, I'd probably say Chapman - he's a unique player though.

High half forward flanker was his best spot with short spurts on the ball when his body allows it. We had on year when Porps, Knights & Tippett kicked between 40-55 goals between them.

Can't think of a player to compare him to, maybe a lower class Didak (when Didak was great) or a higher class Monfries.

At his best he will be a top 10 player for you at his worst he'll be around the 20-25 mark.

With the injuries however, do you think he has the fortitude to maintain the rigors running down the wings will have? I love the guy in front of goals, and if he comes I'd want to not only maximize his career length, but also exploit is lead/mark/goal

I've got no doubt, mentally, he's strong enough to get back - if he struggles, it'll be his body failing him.

To be honest, I reckon the Crows are to blame for some of his injury woes - he had serious foot issues (might've been stress fractures) and we rushed him back too early, then he broke down again and again.

As a pure leading forward, I'm not sure how good he can be - its the CHF/HFF role that he excelled in.

Cheers mate. Sounds like he is a relatively low risk, potentially high risk reward type player. At the very least, we need to strengthen our depth and have at least 26-30 odd players who are AFL standard and can step up and play when required.

Would definitely be interested in securing his services if he wanted to come at the right price and with the right attitude.

Out of curiosity, is there any chance that you guys will renew his contract (would he be open to staying at the crows?) Surely a player of his possible quality would be handy depth for an emerging team like the crows (especially if Tippett were to leave and is not replaced with a gun key forward).

Well there is a chance, but I think he'll get better offers in regards to cash & playing time elsewhere. He was one of my favourites when flying, but I just don't think we'll see him in the tricolours next season.

Was awesome about 3 years ago. But since his injuries around 2010 he has looked a bit slower and his kicking looks to have dropped off a bit. Will be 26 next month. If we can get him fit he might get back to that form hopefully

very keen on this one and the price will be right too
his best is very good and even if he doesnt get back to his best what he will bring is a ready to go depth player
