The last quarter?Did I miss something? He still failed to execute regular handballs and turned it over in the back half.
So one good quarter in the VFL is good enough now?The last quarter?
Did I say that? You asked what you missed. I assumed it was the last quarter. I was also being a smart arse.So one good quarter in the VFL is good enough now?

Didn't say you said that. But for others it appears like that.Did I say that? You asked what you missed. I assumed it was the last quarter. I was also being a smart arse.
He has had all season to prove his worth. One good game for the 2nds after the death of Collingwood AFL does not even begin to justify the foolhardy generosity of his salary. And while he is on $50000 a year for doing SFA I will say what I like about him. In his situation, I would be more than happy to roll with the punches and collect the woman.Mayne was terrific today. Undoubtedly his best game in black and white and certainly would have played more than 3 matches this season had he put together that performance earlier.
Thanks for letting us know exactly what occurred and our options for the future. Funnily enough it had never been discussed before you got here.Your current and future coach clearly sat in the meeting with his manager and the (soon to be departed) GM of Football and gave his blessing to picking up Mayne on $500k per year until the end 2020.
So his footballing future is either:
1. $1.5M to stay on your list and play VFL;
2. Try to trade him to another club who will pick up his 3 year contract with Collingwood paying a big chunk (so not going to happen); or
3. Whether it's now, or next year after one final crack, put him on the coaching staff with an early retirement from playing (most likely).
Either way, it's nobody's fault but Buckley.

Well done to him. After the sh1t last few days its a good effort.
Happy to help. CheersI didn't know all that.
Thank you for clarifying.
Now I know exactly what happened.
Mods close thread please, we now have the exactness of what happened. Phew

Doesn't quite ring true with what's been spoken about since the deal was done. Buckley wanted Mayne, but not for that money or length. From all reports I've heard Buckley was happy to sign Mayne for 2-3 years at 300-350k.Your current and future coach clearly sat in the meeting with his manager and the (soon to be departed) GM of Football and gave his blessing to picking up Mayne on $500k per year until the end 2020.

Please don't mention Zac Dawson either.I always get so overwhelmed when a Freo fan starts bleating holier-than-thou about botched trades. I don't know whether to bring up losing Andy McLeod for superstar Chris Groom, giving up rights to Matty Lloyd and Scott Lucas, giving away Jimmy Clement as steak knives, giving up Luke Hodge and Sam Mitchell for Trent Croad only to lose him back to Hawthorn, giving up Medhurst to Ben Reid for Chris Tarrant only to lose him back to Collingwood, picking up Jack Anthony, picking up Kepler Bradley, picking up Colin Sylvia, picking up Scott Gumbleton, or coughing up a first rounder for Harley Bennell.
Maybe I should just shut up though.
We don't really know you so I won't send you a Goodfellas gif. That's quite surprising to be honest. After all it has proven to be a howler of a deal by Hine/Buckley.
Clearly worse than Wells and Dunn.
Glad I could clear it up for you.
