In which draft Jock?
You have to apply a player to the number at the top end of the draft.
Yarran is worth quite a bit to the right club or else we may risk him being worth more as a FA next year....who knows though....he may still come to the party.
Talk me through his B&F's Harks, what ever pick no. he was is irrelevant. It's what he's delivered and shown is what his true worth is. Or are you working off potential? If so, potential isn't bankable. Past history is. 15-18 is his worth and I'd take it in a heartbeat.
Everybody's upset with the way Yarran is going about things right now but there's no rush to tell him that he's unwanted and that we'll clear him at any cost.
Plenty of time to see whether we can get things 'back in order' or whether it's all too late.

Yarran was 4th in our B&F last year..................how's that as a starting point?
Get to the root of the problem............and if it's not 'fixable' or if we don't trust ourselves to 'fix it', then move him on.
I'd be looking in the mirror first, before we become a Brisbane.
Come on harks, get a grip, so 4th in the B&F at Carlton is his best. If a late first rounder is offered we wouldn't be able to get the pen out quick enough.
We'd hear the laughter all the way from WA.I recall my mate earlier in the year put forward a prospective trade of Yarran for Darling in a straight swap. Putting aside Yarran's current state of discontent, what's everyone's thoughts on that hypothetical?
I hope they got permission from Carlton first. Against AFL rules to meet directly with players, let alone a player contracted for another year.Barrett reckons Yarran has met with and talked to Richmond. Said it live on the Footy show =0
Would not surprise me in the slightest if Yarran has done this.I hope they got permission from Carlton first. Against AFL rules to meet directly with players, let alone a player contracted for another year.
sweet. Yarran for Hammer.
So apparently the tigers are interested in Yarran, and I get that he's pretty handy so you want to keep him. But if he wants to come to Tigerland does our third pick and Dave Astbury do the deal for you? He was leading our b&f until injured mid last year, but hasn't been able to crack into our back 6 as all our talls have been great/not injured.
Id think Carlton would take #15-#18 for yarran, There wouldn't be need for steak knives
Anderson has re-signed to be announced by weeks end....
That said the deal would be very different... Jed and 15-18 for Yaz and your Second. Before you jump up and down, we rate Anderson higher than you may or may not rate Yarran..... With a full preseason he'll go BEAST MODE.

So apparently Richmond have broken AFL rules and spoken directly to a player who is contracted for at least another year at another club.So apparently the tigers are interested in Yarran, and I get that he's pretty handy so you want to keep him. Very well said.I read Yarran as being basically unhappy - he has lost his closest team mates, broken up with girlfriend, and has had weight of expectations on him in a badly out of form team which has had injuries and coach issues...as well as mooted trade hanging over his head ...the bloke is one of those who cruises around on superior skill and natural speed - doesn't make him the type who can win games on his own at Carlton ..
put it all together and you have an unhappy chappy who is playing like it...supporters expect blokes to put in 100% every week...fair enough to expect but with some personality types ...they are either ON or OFF as far as effort goes..
Put Yarran in Hawthorn and you have an AA player instantly..less so at Freo...maybe WC with his mate Nic Nat..or at GWS where he is cream that gets them over the line in close ones...Chris is class in any contenders list and should be priced accordingly...
This type of situation is all about what Carlton does for Carlton - and I reckon if the CLub cant get a top10 pick - he stays ...for mine it is all about the messages the Club gives out to other teams and Clubs - last two years weer an absolute disaster as far as list management goes losing so much experience and class and gaining ****all as compensation and going backwards in pick ups...
nope - better he stays unless we get massive overs - and for mine massive overs is a top10 pick + minimum forget about a fair trade- Carlton needs to start playing very smart and be seen to be by all Clubs otherwise we continue building a poor reputation as far as trade goes.
If rumours are true that Pres insisted Garlett out - then all I can say is Pres should keep his opinions to his portly self and concentrate on getting some decent sponsorship back into the Club same goes for Trigg - butt out of player talk and list talk- do your job and win supporters and members or GTFO.
there was NO NEED for Trigg and Pres to start talking rebuild at start of year- that stuff you do - you dont tal - both have ****ed up big time.

Swann used to comment on player stuff. Sticks had to get involved in the Fevola stuff. They still have the club's image and direction to protect. Off field incidents are part of their domain and decision process. I'd be happy for SOS to be the mouthpiece in his dedicated role. You can't suggest the president of the club can't have an opinion behind closed doors on player shenanigans though. It would be bad if he made public comment. The fact this is a rumour only 10 months later shows the club have done a reasonable job of keeping the leaks at bay. Elliot would have called a press conference to give his opinion on every misdemeanour.
They attempted to manage expectations. We expected to be better than our start to the season showed and the supporter base was starting to melt down. It is easy in hindsight to say that staying silent was the thing to do but there was a big rush of 'right, we said it, what do we have to do to get it right' afterwards. That was circuit breaker #1 and it was supposed to take heat off the club and the coach.
Problem was the performances got worse and Mick went into self preservation mode which totally make the rebuild announcement explode in the club's face.
Trigg and the board took a stance of greater communication, more inclusion, more information late last year. Supporters were upset and looking to the club to make them feel better about something. The club went 'holy shit, we are terrible but we have to offer a future' and so went proactive.
Everybody here knows they didn't want to here ... 'we need to work harder', 'the opposition were very good', 'we have had a much better week on the track so are confident on a better performance' rhetoric coming out every week. That stuff alienates us but also makes us think the club have no idea where we are at.
Some say, bugger the supporters, they do not need to know things and the club should keep it in house while others scream for more info. Damned either way. You need members and lying to people and saying it's a slow start to the season, we'll come right so jump on board, doesn't cut it.
It only blew up because the coach immediately realised he would have no way of proving himself to get an extension and supposedly because some precious players found it hard to concentrate on playing because a rebuild means uncertainty for their futures, as if getting smashed every week hadn't already threatened those futures. Interesting that some players have lifted since the coaching change with the rebuild still on.
I believe the club had a dilemma, am still not convinced whether the rebuild announcement was a good thing or a bad thing but I'm prepared not to judge even if they did the wrong thing for the right reason. I know receiving shock therapy to manage my expectations early has helped to limit my frustration this year. Point is, these things are not so clear cut for all. One man's stuff up makes perfect sense to another. Depends on your particular slant.
