Hang on, just let me pick myself back up off the floor & apologise to the family for laughing so loudly at this time of the night.

Damn, I'm going to have to go outside, I can't stop laughing.

Serious question. What do people think of McBean.?Not as direct swap for Yarran but maybe in a package. Skinny kid but tall.

Remembering listening to a pre draft analyst and he had big wraps for McBean.

Can he play ? Is he lacking opportunities with Jack being up forward ?

Can we change the thread title again to Chris Yarran - The Price Is Falling?

If Yarran's price is falling I hate to imagine what Henderson would be worth now. An interesting strategy to be sure. Based on his performances this season, there is no way the club could offer him a huge contract and therefore he nullifies any risk that the club would match any prospective offer. Very risky as it is never a good idea to sh*t in your own nest.

Leading VFL goalkicker and I've heard he's got a lot of promise. We could certainly do much worse.

Our very own Watson isn't far behind in the vfl goal kicking award and he has little to no supply. Rather keep Watson than pickup another teams spud....
Well that sunk my battleship.

Sorry T2B. Just seems we're always looking next door and thinking things a rosier than what might actually be. Nothing against McBean but I'd rather start investing in a player we drafted at 18 but haven't given any real opportunity to.

Would be happy for him to ply his trade elsewhere and prove his doubters wrong.

Why does it matter what we offer? He's not a free agent.

We could offer him $800k a season, Geelong $400k, and if he wants out he can still demand a trade.

Top few VFL goalkicker for two years running I think (Think he finished 3rd last year). Listed as 202cm and 93kg, so he's got some growing to do. Reason he doesn't get AFL games is because Vickery, Hampson, Maric, Griffiths are all the same height but are much more physically developed and can all ruck, and then Jack is the other tall forward.

He's behind a few players physically, and so hasn't got his chance yet at AFL level. Lots of talent, but unless he asked for a trade I don't think we'd want to move him on.

Personally i wouldnt even entertain the thought of a straight swap for yarran, Kid is really pushing hard and will be leading goal kicker in the VFL even missing 5-6 games.

202 com and still only 90 kgs but with the agility to crumb the ball like a 180cm player, Will be special when adds another 7-9kgs and has the body to compete with the defenders.

I wouldnt like to lose him

Have you seen McBean play, I think he is one of the most agile players going around for his size

Came to the club at 80kgs when drafted and has already added similar weight and is doing very very well
very much a Gunston type foward thats taller

Agreed he's very agile but you can't have it both ways. Put on 10kg he becomes a power forward but WILL lose agility, stay at 90kgs and he retains agility but will get pushed off the ball too easily. Gain 5kg and could be a sweet spot but gain that 5kg in 1 off season and you will get injured.
That's why he's a project player

Depends on the person really, I have seen some players that are over 200cm that are extremely agile and the player that comes to mind is NicNat
basically same height yet over 100kgs (im not saying Liam is another natunui but the agility aspect of it)

Also Nick Riewoldt is extremely agile for a 195-196cm player thats 96-98kgs

I personally believe that Liam will get to 96/97kg and will be his peak, But back on the topic I would ratherkeep him than trade him
KPF 202 cm developed extremely well in the VFL with 3 years under his belt and will be ready to go in 2 years when theres a chance we could lose 1 of Griffiths/Vickery would be a ready replacement

Agreed you would hate to lose a kpp after you put 4yrs into them.

Ok, what is a fair swap for a reserves player that won't finish top 20 in the senior b&f, Trent Cotchin :drunk: you tell me

You know as well as I do that Yarran is not a "reserves" player. He may well be playing in the VFL at the moment, but at his best, which, given his age, is still to come, is an extremely effectively player at AFL level & this will be why your club, among others have been/will be sniffing around Yarran.

AFL clubs know his worth & there would be certain coaches who would fancy themself to get the best out of Yarran. In a side playing well, Yarran is the player who sets up much of the scoring opportunities.

FWIW, your club traded a 2nd round pick for another "reserves" player, Hampson & Yarran has already been a far better player than Hampson ever will be & is only just about to move into his peak years.

Where is he likely to finish in b&f ? His currency is r2 at best but more likely better value for,you guys will be a player swap

Richmond rarely trade out their 1st pick these days & Personally i wouldn't think they would be looking to trade it for yarran if thats his value for carlton most probably the trade wont happen.

Regards to trading for Hampson, I remember the same things were being said then and our supporters all thought a 2nd pick was too much - Yes it was too much and we did get rolled in that trade. Should never have been more than a 3rd rounder otherwise should have been left well alone

Yarran moving into his peak, we dont really know if that will ever happen to be honest , There are no guarantee's he will ever be more than what he is currently. And could just as easily go the other way as Tambling did - Its a risk.

I am a Yarran fan and probably similar to most carlton supporters on here get dazzled by the pace and 'sometimes' his skills, but as much as his skills are good there have been as many times where they are just horrible as well but the problem i find with yarran is that even in the ratten years where he played is best football he was very inconsistent and hardly ever put in games for long periods

I do believe that yarran has checked out of carlton as much as carlton have checked out of yarran and does look like the club is shopping him around as much as yarran and looks like both parties want out. Very hard to see carlton getting a top 20 pick for him and i dont believe they have any interest in keeping him in 2016.

We on here will just give opinions be it right or wrong and all want our clubs to do well out of the trades but theres nothing us keyboard worriors will write that will influence what either your club takes for him or what my clubs give up for him - We just give our opinions
what will be will be.

just another question that come to mind is, Do you guys think that a new coach will have much influence in what happens with trades this year as im of the thinking that SoS is fully in charge and has the final say in these matters for this year atleast has been given a licence to do what he thinks is best

Look at all these Tugger flogs in here salivating over a cheap trade for Yarran...
Not really, Honestly not to fussed if it happens or not.

If it was a Dangerfield,Treloar,Motlop,Fyffe type player the it would be a group thing happening but yarran is just a if it happens it happens type of thing
