Mate he finished third, there are plenty in parliament who finished second and got in on a dodgy preference deal, dr Karen Phelps comes to mind I’m sure there are others she got 29% of the vote the other bloke got 41 and she got in,is that democracy?
Dr Phelps got 29% of the Primary Vote, which isn't the same as Anning's vote in the senate.
She ended up with 51% in the Two-candidate-preferred result, which is how the winner of each seat in the House of Representatives is decided and it's far more democratic than First Past the Post.

So let me clarify this, if there is a reprisal massacre of Christians in any other part of the world in response to Christchurch you would say 'no' for a minutes silence?
How many battles can you fight. There are wars going on across the globe, all equally tragic, but when it comes home so to speak, there is a bit more poignancy. Just human nature. Personally I feel for them all pretty much equally, until it becomes one of your friends or family.

He didn't finish "second," One Nation won two Queensland senate seats in the 2016 election, which were given to Pauline and Malcolm Roberts. Roberts was caught up in that dual citizen stuff and was declared ineligible, after a re-count, Fraser, who was listed 3rd on the list of One Nation candidates, was elected in place of Roberts. Not entirely sure why, but he abandoned One Nation and sat as an independent. He briefly joined Katter's Australian Party last year.
Don't try and explain politics to simpletons.you're wasting your time.

Winning on the back of preferences is like the moral premiership the pies won last uear

Not at all. What I'm saying is I think it's worth examining why we (royal we) feel this particular tragedy so much more than when things like this happen in other parts of the world. But that doesn't change how we feel, and it's my opinion that it would be appropriate to acknowledge that.

It's time for the club to cancel Andrew Bolts membership for one.
thought police, fascist, marxist, totalitarian, despotic, how else would you describe your point of view?
give a plonker like bolt enough rope, that's what you do in a democracy.
you don't crush dissent, you beat it with facts, logic and education

Well I don't think it's despotic, it would be a good thing for the community if the club made a statement. You can't let these things fester imo.

what statement is that? what legal basis would the club have? would the club open itself up to claims of prejudicial conduct? murky waters.

https://www.breitbart.com/africa/20...im-militants-kill-120-christians-three-weeks/. The reports are ubiquitous yet absent from the msm.

A video on the massacres:

https://www.infowars.com/the-truth-about-the-new-zealand-mosque-attack/

Probably the most balanced commentary I have seen:

"His core grievances and his concerns about the society we are living have merit. His journey started out of legitimate fears" Tell me what hardships Tarrant has been forced to endure growing up in the NSW north coast? And even then living in a country like NZ? This guy who made this video is a serious fcuking snowflake. boo hoo life is so hard because the media are telling me who to feel sorry for. Grow the fckk up.

Tarrant was a personal trainer who's job gave him money to live a full life and travel the world. Spare me.

Not a joke at all and of course I’ve seen what’s happened over the last 10 years , I meant this is the start of a wave of new retaliation attacks in response to Christchurch .

Dickhead did what he did in christchurch in response to the myriad of attacks around the world. ISIS and the far right are as evil and twisted as each other.

That video is not balanced, extremely one sided. Images of Hilary Clinton and Obama in relation to the wars in the Middle East, but where was Bush and Cheney etc who started it all. Nigerian extremists have been massacring both Muslim and Christians for the best part of a decade, in fact far more muslims have been killed in the conflict.... etc etc

Guys from the far right like Tommy Robinson are ruining the battle against terrorism, all cultures and big religions need to work together to stop the deadly hate that is present in the world at the moment. White people cannot hate islam because of terrorism because quite obviously we are just as bad as each other. If we want to stop the shootings and deaths of innocent people we need to put our differences aside.
