The show officially opens tonight Thursday 9th of April 2009 and runs until 10th of June down in Melbourne Docklands area.

Anyone from BF going?

From the dress rehearsal last night sounds rather spectacular going by the music and the ovation at the end.

* ps: Catman. May need to increase the number of prefixes available as this is clearly not TV, Movie or Radio.

I saw 'O' at the Bellagio in Las Vegas a few months back.

Sure it was impressive, but I can't say I'm a big fan of the Cirque shows.

I want a story, something I can follow. Cirque shows are just a mish-mash of activity, albeit spectacular, but I feel I don't get $150 value.

Personally, I'd much rather see a good stage show (eg. Les Miserables).

And for prefixes, how about:

Prefix: Show

Good stuff :thumbsu:

Re your comments above. Yet to see any of their shows. Got a freebie for tonights show. Will see if its worth the price of $287!

Went to the last two that came to Australia. Dont think this one is coming to Adelaide so wont be going this time.

im interested in going. love the asian theme to it as well.

saw zumanity in vegas a few years back, that had boobies in it so i liked it :D

Sorry Peter...no boobies this time....unless you count the topless male clowns :o

Very colorful. Thought some of the costumes more African than Oriental

Show starts at just after 8pm with the clowns clowning around till the audience is all settled and then the first act and finished around 10:40 with a 25 minute intermission inbetween.

Lots of trapeze and wire work. Juggling and gymnastics including a a female contortionist who turned herself just about inside out. Amazing show of strength and movement.

The hoop jumpers also very good although at least 3 hoops went down.

For me the highlight was the trampoline jumpers. The trapeze artists you can just see the guide wire to protect. These trampoline guys and girls had no such protection. Running up walls, clinging and bouncing onto ledges and other trampolines. Falling 8 metres backwards and bouncing back off the trampoline. What a buzz.

Merchanidise costs didnt seem to be OTT. $19 for a baseball cap. $45 for the DVD is a little high.

Overall a good night.

You pay for what you get. The best seats right in front of the stage looking straight down the stage of course are the most expensive. Still if you can afford it probably worth paying the extra.

sat directly in front, back row. great seats!

disappointed with the show, 6/10. zumanity was much better.

jumping through hoops was good. seen that sort of stuff in shanghai atn acrobatic show. only one hoop was knocked down.

trampolining was great!

i think that maybe my last cirques. practically the same thing each time for mine.

spoiler alert:
the guy who gets picked out of the crowd isnt a local (ie going to see the show), he's part of the show!

I went a few weeks ago and thought it was fantastic.
First time i'd ever been to on of their shows and just couldn't believe some of the things they could do. Only 1 hoop went down at my show, and I was kinda please because it just showed they were human!
Thought the guy and the girl who used the big long ribbons were pretty good too, that guy was absolutely ripped and had the biggest six pack I've ever seen!
Definitely think it's worth going if anyone still has a chance to go!

I've seen four of their shows now, 2 live and two on DVD.

The first live show we went to was Varekai - and my wife was chosen from the audience for one bit - so they aren't ALL plants.

I feel like I've seen about 3 hours of different stuff over the 6-8 hours of watching. There is definitely some repetition between shows - but that's generally in the skills. My wife raves about the stories, themes and the like - I just see people get thrown in the air, trampolines (would love to do that), etc.
