Where have you been lately? The last 12 months the gamers have been all about deifying the east and demonizing the west...
For what it's worth I love both games you've mentioned and have thoroughly enjoyed my time with this so far.

Was looking for an excuse to go back and platinum this gameFree DLC![]()
Deserves everything it won, especially GOTY. My only beef is winning the RPG category in a year where we had KCD2. I guess that comes down to your own definition of what an RPG is though and it gets very loosely applied to anything with class progression these days when IMO the bare minimum should actually require some sort of role playing.
I can't comment on KCD2
Only played e33 and it's definitely one of the best in a long time for me
Almost gave up on it too early though
gotta admit I had to double take when I saw that RPG win as well. Both are amazing games and I feel like this is the only place I can level that criticism at the best RPG award without anyone taking it the wrong way (the internet is rabid). KCD2 is a pure RPG. You can truly role play in just about any way you want and there are many decisions with consequences that drastically alter the story. I know that under modern criteria that Expedition 33 qualifies as an RPG but I think to award it the best RPG over an actual traditional and true RPG (that is also amazing in its own right) is a bit rough. But then again if you win GOTY you're probably also going to win your category so I guess it wins best RPG by default. I just think it's a bit of a snub. Again that's not to fault E33. I think we all knew it was going to deservedly sweep the awards and it's genuinely a game that's going to be still talked about in 5 or even maybe 10 years time.
Been waiting for a sale to get this but might have to bite the bullet after Christmas

I was gonna be glib earlier and say e33 qualified because it has 2 endingsBoth are amazing games and I feel like this is the only place I can level that criticism at the best RPG award without anyone taking it the wrong way (the internet is rabid). Nah, but keep pushing through!Just started this - am I supposed to have any clue WTF is up with the world and setting?
Feels like I missed an intro cutscene or something lol
Battle is closer to a final fantasy 10/12 (and apparently persona but I've never played that). Level design is mint. No Gwent mini game but the side quests in general are ones that really make you want to do them and are not just fetch quests. What's the combat most like? I'm pretty keen to give it a go but all the hype has me worried my expectations might be too high.
Is the level design good? Does it encourage and reward exploring every nook and crevice?
Is there a Gwent type mini-game at all? I'm a sucker for those and if there is ill be way more tempted to buy it.
FF10/12 are my two favourites. Cheers Dank I'll give it a go.Battle is closer to a final fantasy 10/12 (and apparently persona but I've never played that). Level design is mint.
