Rumour Clark to Freo?

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Shnoz Zempelis just on SEN, when asked about trade news out of the west said, "Freo prepared to be active if anyone wants to offer them something, but there doesn't seem to be anything going on there".

I smell bovine faecal matter.

Denham may be a twat but old Basil certainly isn't any more credibile.

FWIW I'd love to have Clark playing for us next year, I rate him highly but it's all unconfirmed and speculative at this point.

Hutchy stated this as fact on TFS but said Freo doesn't have the picks to get it done so he'll prolly stay.

Hutchy on TFS just reported that mitch asked to be traded to freo - but will likely stay in Brissy as they don't have the picks to make the trade.

For what it's worth - also reported that Dan Collins was sacked.

Browny's response: Mitch is a contracted player and believed he'll be here for many years to come

btw - for those who missed it... although he was grilled, browny handled himself superbly. 100% backs Vossy and believes we'll be a contender next year.

love this bloke

Why do people even bother with the constant 'we should be able to pay well under value for a player we want' crap?

I can understand Freo supporters loving Fyfe, but trying to say Clark isn't in the same value bracket is just garbage.

As a contracted player Clarke if he moves won't be cheap - young talented bigmen come at a premium.

However smart clubs generally don't trade out any of their top 3 kids unless they have to do so .....Freo are a smart club so Hill, Fyfe & Morabito are no chance.

If (and I'm playing the if game as I'm bored) a more likely price is going to be in the range of first round pick & player outside of top 3 kids/top 5 players.

Personally at the price of Palmer and a first round - I'd do it as a Freo fan but can see why Brissy fans would reject it.

So in other words he just repeated what he read in this thread today? ;)

Lions need to be careful here.

Get a deal done with Freo, free up some cap sapce and perhaps retain some other talent looking to leave.

If Clark is out of contract at the end of 2011, he will be right near the top of the list for GWS. Athletic talls who can ruck to AA standard and also play not just play forward as a resting ruck, but play as a genuine Key forward do not grow on trees!

Someone like Clark would be at or near the top of the shopping list for 16 other clubs right now, and 17 at the end of next year.

Agreed, and that's why I reckon we'd have a shot at getting two first round picks for him if he did go to GWS.

So what's the rush?

So Brissy keep him - get another year out of him and then get compensation from GWS .....it is hardly end of the world stuff

I, an official representative of the Fremantle Football Club, will trade you, the reader, Hill and Pav for Mitch Clark.

If the Eagles were after him that would be a different story

Been trying to work out what would get it done from our end.

Picks 4 and 26 for Clark and pick 10 - is that in the ballpark?

Probably ripping you off a little I suppose.

You can't even see the ballpark from where you are.

That might be the car park of the ballpark over there? ......no sorry that's my ironing board

Really bad news if true.

Hopefully this is entirely made up and stems from Bruce and Dennis' commentating during the Essendon match.

However, if there is some truth to it, will the Lions risk keeping him on the list and losing him next year to GWS for nothing? Being second fiddle behind Leuenberger in the ruck stakes and Brown and Fev in the forward line might be more factors for leaving than anything else going on behind the scenes. Clark was great as a first choice ruck but he had that duty removed- instead becoming a swingman. He may want to call a position his own and sees a move as the best way to make this happen.

If he does intend to leave after his current contract we should look to trade now whilst we have some bargaining power. I would personally be happy with a Rhys Palmer and Nick Suban (or another pick in the first round) for Clark and our second pick. Fremantle could cover those losses and gain a very valuable forward/ruck. Certainly do not want to lose Clark- but if it's going to happen lets make sure we get something out of it.

If GWS works the same as GC then even though he's uncontracted we'll get compensation pick(s) from the AFL. So we won't get 'nothing' for him.

Having said that whether the AFL compensation would be higher than what we could get for him this year from Freo (if this is all true which sounds doubtful) is debatable.

I am starting to feel pretty confident that many people on here haven't watched Palmer at all this year. In our current situation we would be trading Sherman and getting a worse kick. Palmer was recovering from injury sure but he went backwards a long way this year and was dropped three times (note I haven't checked causation of each on - may have been injured :)). His kicking is terrible, he was not the accumlator he was when he was no longer the focus and he dropped off as a goal scoring threat. Having him as the centre piece of any trade is highly overvaluing his trade worth. Its like valuing Sherman based on last year rather than this year.

Yes good point. Although a pick or two at the end of the first round for a player of Mitch's calibre would be a big loss. IMO if he wants out and Freo want him entertain it and see what they come up with.

No...try just pick #4 ;)

Rather trade Mitch Brown to the Blues for pick 18.

Pick 18 + 26 for Clark to the Eagles.

Pick 4 will still get an eliete midfielder or even a Sam Day this year.

Clark is good, if he had a similar year in 2010 to 2009 maybe pick 4 would be okish but ...................... he didn't.

Only 1 player at Brisbane is worth pick 4 to the Eagles, and it isn't Clark.

Given he's still contracted don't see this being anywhere near good enough. Tall athletic utilities like clark don't grow on trees. One of the few players who could genuinely make a team either as a ruckman or a forward, even a larger bodied mid at a pinch.

I don't think he will be going anywhere, just dont see a good enough deal being presented to us. Only thing I can think of is if he actually wanted to go home rather than just freo, then we could run the risk of losing him in the PSD next year to WC providing they finished last again, which is a big if.

GWS would be the biggest threat to us keeping him but at least we would get compo for that.
