Clarkson - we shoulda had him instead

Damn Hawthorn. I wanted Clarkson far more than Craig at AFC. Posted a thread about it. Always thought Clarkson (unlike say, Rohde and Craig) was a hard, tough motivator, unlike the Rohde/Craig types who seem too soft. Look at the best coaches - Matthews, Sheedy, Jeans, Parkin, Blight - disciplinarians. The Craigs and the Rohdes fade away to nothing.

Rehn looked like a disciplinarian as well. To me Craig is someone who will let the players saty in their comfort zone. As a head coach, being warm and loving with the players only goes so far before it becomes an invitation to mediocrity.

I don't think I would like Clarkson as AFC coach. Just heard him on the radio yesterday and he didn't sound terribly impressive. A lot of his answers were kinda rehearsed and coined up. I could be wrong of course. I guess we'll see.

You'd think he would have at least been invited to interview for the position, he is much more qualified than Shaun Rehn.

You have to remember that he has just spent a lot of time with Choco.
